We had one bloom. We live in a very woody area. Them bloom shot up by itself. It popped up through leaves so I never saw a plant. It was absolutely beautiful and a pleasant fine after the winter months of cold.
Possibly my favourite plant and flower, other than my French roses (Catherine Deneuve and Cannes Festival) but the dwarf iris is very difficult to obtain and cultivate from risomes here in southern Australia. Still, this was useful information providing yet another layer of 'hope' for next year garden plans.
Found this little beauty killing time in natural tunnel state park in far southwestern virginia a few years back.
