An auger you put on a drill is a game changer for planting bulbs. Many hardware store sell them, Amazon has a good selection too.

Have you or anyone else here ever tried to grow spring bulbs for indoor display out of season or at Christmas? It is something different I thought I may try with the school children I work with to inspire them to think outside the box.🙂 I love seeing how you look after your garden and solve problems that arise very inspiring, we don't have deer or goffers just slugs and snails here in UK zone 8b.😊

Hello, Rosemary. It's nice to meet you! I occasionally used to start bulbs early for indoors but haven't for a long time. It's a great topic, though, perhaps for next winter. I'm glad you have been enjoying my videos. I love the UK and enjoy watching Gardener's World, Gardening with Carol Klein, Life in a Cottage Garden, and Beechgrove Garden.

I have Tulipa Humilis Persian Pearl and it is really one of my favorites! The color on the picture you showed is very close to reality but as always it looks even nicer live!! They are fairly small plants but the flower heads are bigger and truly beautiful 😍 Especially if you already love purple. Can't wait what you will think about them when you see them! 😊 Greetings, Judit

Back for another comment : If you like that tulip, check out Tulipa bakeri Lilac Wonder. It is rather pink but it is the most cheerful little tulip I ever seen and it lasts longer than the Persian Pearl 😊

Wow, you and another gal I watch are up early! She is up to her eyeballs in over 1,000 bulbs and was going to use her auger😂 until she realized the effort😂 I planted a lot of bulbs last year late in frozen ground and waiting to see if we got rid of the Voles😏. Never seen in my life and they had the trails I seen late winter and they ate all the blue flowered bulbs and some tulips. We never had a problem with gophers, but those voles are destructive. I have a ton of those miniature irises, so much I ripped most of them out and gave away. Ugh! Everything here has to be behind barriers- they eat resistant anything as well. So many planting tons of bulbs this year. I didn’t know if I should fertilize this fall with bonemeal as I know shrews like bones and don’t want to attract any rodents. I have trouble digging into bulbs later and now I have to watch new irrigation lines which I did hit and I think either me or a helper hit another🙄. Can’t wait to see the spring display.

Another great video!. Darn it I missed the opportunity to add bulbs this year. Thanks for the name of your supplier. I definitely will give them a try next season. I am curious about the metal edging you showed us. Do you have a video on the installation process?

Hi, Mark. We didn't shoot a video on that, sorry. It primarily involved reshaping some of the beds (for the curves), making little trenches to slide them into place, overlapping each strip by a few inches, and then Bill screwed them together at the seams. We back-filled the trenches as necessary and put down new bark mulch for the walking paths.

Hi Susan, How’s your GreenStalk Planter garden doing?

Hi there. I'm sorry for the slow reply but I've been out of town. The GreenStalk planter did really well for us. Since we knew the temperatures were really going to drop while we were gone, we harvested the last of the veggies and removed the plants and soil. I'll definitely be planting it again next year!
