In real time it looked like a knockdown. But once you see the replay you see that the momentum of him going back while being attacked cause him to go down
Dude was boxing well but getting caught too often with awkward punches that were rattling him… So he went forehead to forehead to smother Mccumby & eliminate the threat of that midrange leaping hook… smart af.
@@DoctorEduardohe got caught 1 time clean with a left in the 3rd round that hurt him a little😂 other than that plant controlled every sec of the fight he didn’t need to adjust he just stuck to the game plan
@@jessec.6876 You must not have watched the entire fight. Plant was down on the canvas 3 different times (thrown when trying to hold McCumby, straight left at the end of the 2nd, and an arm shot that sent Plant flying that look like a knock down), how many times was McCumby down? Plant was also saved at the end of the 2nd round, clear shot and knock down that the ref called a slip, and even when Plant bullied McCumby on the ropes, in every other flurry Plant was throwing, McCumby was humbling him over and over with that left hook which would stop Plant's aggression. Congrats to both fighters, Fight of the Night for sure!
@@learncadadia7832 I’ll admit I watched the fight at the beginning of round 3 when plant was “officially” knocked down, which to be fair wasn’t really a knockdown at all. Plant went down due to the momentum. But after that Plant went into second gear and immediately lit up McCumby. You said McCumby “humbled” him with his left hook in between sequences but does a humbled fighter start taunting and dancing in the middle of the ring? Nope. As soon as plant turned it on, he bullied him up against the ropes until the ref stopped the fight. McCumby is tough, sure but he gets destroyed by Munguia, Benavidez, and any of the other top super middleweights. Maybe a fight between him and Berlanga would be fun.
Wtf is American English? It blows my mind this slang way of talking. How tf does isn’t no”(is not no) make any sense? This literally means they are boxing fans tf🤦♂️
For real. Boxing is transitioning to a point where the "undefeated" record means less. Which is not a bad thing. We just want to see entertaining fights regardless of winning streaks. I'll admit it's probably thanks to the ufc
All due respect in my cheap 2 cents, Plant is a fan favorite fighter especially after his 0 left. I'm sure know boxing fans looked at any MMAer 12-5 records to decide which boxer and style is their favorite. I'm glad that 🦃 guy wants to make the best fight the best like what boxing us to be, 0s will roll
@@deeppocketsnyc maaan, plant/munguia..would be nice its berlanga/munguia for me,or hell just a mixture of mccumby, mbilli, derevyachenko,Andrade, morrell, munguia, benavidez bunch of fun fights at super middle.
McCumby should have been credited with two knockdowns. There was one early in the fight where Plant fell forward and got up staggered after the bell. Hats off to McCumby for making the best of his shot. He left it all out there and went out on his shield like a man.
CONGRATS PLANT I WISH THEY SHOWED THE PARTS WHERE THEY WERE BOTH SHOWBOATING THAT WAS FIGHT OF THE YEAR BOTH MEN LEFT IT ALL IN THE RING AND MCCUMBY EARNED HIM ANOTHER BIG FIGHT WITH THE HEART AND POWER HE SHOWED GOOD STUFF BUT PLANT IS ON ANOTHER LEVEL🥊
McCumby caught his arm on the rope because he was very badly stunned. It would have made no difference though, he was finished. He was against the rope because he was hurt.
Plant on the inside is fucking beautiful. And props to McCumby dude is entertaining don’t mind watching the peso pluma lumberjack again, they both delivered what they promised a good fucking fight. But yoooo that Salas vs Villa was a good fight too 💪🏼
Sweet Hands only two loses is too two all time greats and future hall of famers. The way Sweet hands adjusted is just beautiful. Plant a beast respect 🇲🇽
Love to see McCumby fight again... he's got the heart of a lion! Almost knocked Plant smooth out the ring, n made him stagger with another hit!! Long respect is what I got for him. Plant won but McCumby was a gladiator in gloves! He'll go down in history for that fight! Love n respect for my man!
Being from the UK I've never heard of plant but seem I'm on frotch yt chanel and I'll be watching all his fights after this great performance I really like his style of fighting
Happy to see my man Plant back to fight! Also seeing him trying more aggressive and close quarter tactic and having success there makes it more meaningful!
Caleb Plant 🇺🇲 improved a lot after the fight with Canelo, before he fought very defensively but after fighting with Canelo 🇲🇽, now he fights like the counterattacking and defensive Canelo... What a boxer Plant is, the truth is, my respects to him twice IBF world champion and now WBA 🏆 super middleweight. 🙌🏻
Beautiful display of mentality by both fighters. Plant comeback from knockdown, and McCumby still standing up and punching back even though his eyes seems to be spinning shut, hence the stoppage.
Plant not good enough. Plant another Zab Judah, he will lose all his fights against the top guys. Incredible fighter tho, just not good enough to compete against elite guys.
This was entertaining but it felt rigged against McCumby. He knocked down Plant twice, making him stagger after getting up the first time, yet they chose not to credit the first knockdown
Stopped the fight too early. That said, this Caleb is not the Caleb of three years ago…much more methodical and taxing on his opponents. Probably better to avoid him unless necessary.
McCumby hit hard he was knocking Caleb all around the ring then as a true champion he stepped it up cause he was doing good but not enough then man did he break him down I wish we was able to see the finish product cause Trevor was headed to star in a highlight reel
Seeing Plant adjusting his work to the Inside and completely taking over was just perfect, and all while being a real showman. But Mcumby stood his ground well.
I say it, Plant is a warrior, just watched his fight with the Monster, it don't matter if he lost to him and Canelo, he's a fkn warrior and he got the hands, what a great fight this was to give Plant that opportunity to bounce back! He's that fighter, fall , but get back up and handle the business! LEGEND!
@2:29 - For all those that think Tyson Fury being given a standing 8-count against Usyk was fair: this was the actual scenario that the rule exists for. Usyk should have won by TKO because Fury was completely out-on-his-feet and bouncing off the ropes: not being suspended by them; while McCumby ought to have been given a standing 8-count because his entire body was being held up by the ropes, then permitted to return to his corner and come out for another round. Poor, irrational, and inconsistent officiating again. Albeit, Plant was clearly in the ascendancy and probably would have got the knockout not long after.
usyk also clearly used an illegal inhaler before he unleashed on fury. usyk was done and then had superhuman power all of the sudden. boxing is a corrupt, dangerous, and dirty game to play for all. there are favorites, there are many ways to cheat. the refs were on plants side, as well as the judges. it is what it is.
