Yes. Some make food forests that will look great after 3-5 years, but will not work after 10. I have planted "too much". No way me and my family can eat it all. Not now. And no where near in a few years. But I also give fruit and berries to my chickens, ducks, geese and rabbits. And it would be nice to have enough to give away. And there should be some for wild birds. So when is too much..
Yes, agreed, we definitely want to leave some fruit for the birds, both wild and domestic! And being able to gift some to friends and family is also good, especially if you can involve them in the harvest! I think too much is when you have a lot of rotting fruit on the ground at the end of the season, especially from the trees (I'm less concerned about the berries). While some of this is helpful in terms of returning it back into the soil, it can also add to your maintenance tasks. Like always, it's a balance!

Some great points, i have a traditional garden but am looking at a food forest plot. Where would a person find a "plan" for planting a food forest? Thanks for posting.
Thanks for watching and glad the video was useful for you. Have you seen my food forest video where I go over other design tips? You might find some good examples of fruit tree guilds that will help you with your food forest but every site is different depending on prevailing wind, climate, slope etc. I offer some design tips here and a tour of my food forest, if you haven't seen it: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-T4gSnSlKGZI.html&lc=UgwkYSIM0o_YcKmfDqV4AaABAg
