aphids like specific plants. use row covers to block the aphids. i also plant a few plants that super attract aphids, so my predators will have aphids to eat. alternative;y, spray with water to control aphids. when you pick a plant that might have aphids, rinse, blanch, and rinse again. aphids will all be gone. my hubby says a but of protein is ok too, since the aphids are eating only your plants.

For "brushing" off your succulents keeping a small soft paintbrush or old make-up brush works really well. It is gentle and will get in the creases of the plants much more effectively. If you get a small paintbrush they are generally inexpensive and last a really long time. Just a thought for next time. ^_^

My boyfriend uses his subconscious a lot when he is stuck programming. He will read through the code and then go to bed. He will then either wake up during the night with a solution or he will know what to do in the morning. Always amazes me how he manage to do that. But I guess practice and as you said, pay attention.
@hormonel9136
@hormonel9136 4 года назад
Happened to me a few times, you just 'dream' the solution, wake up and get right into it. Maybe the stress of not having found a solution pushes the brain into doing the work for you. Neat.

11:43 Jun it's ok if you make some grammar mistakes, English is very tricky (it's my 2nd language too) I always enjoy listening to you (even if you make some mistakes)
@MewChocolateLuvHeart
@MewChocolateLuvHeart 2 года назад
Plus first-language speakers make "mistakes" all the time! We often deviate from grammar rules just because it's easier to say them a certain way or because we feel it fits the situation better (e.g. is less formal). For example, it's common to hear that someone "did good" instead of "well" because it's just easier (and less formal) to say! Another example is "Calvin and I went to the supermarket" (it can sound really pretentious if you're talking casually), so you'll often hear something like "Me and Calvin went to the supermarket". As someone who's studying to be an ESL teacher, I am in the camp that being understood is the ultimate goal, so as long as people can understand what you're saying that's awesome!

Don't know if you have a lot of nettle where you live, but in my garden, we're swimming in them, lol. I don't understand why the expression "to each their own" is bad? The origin, if I'm correct, is the latin phrase "suum cuique" (Cicero) and, in context, means: to each their own right? Or maybe I'm mistaken? Anyway, I'm sure someone would correct me if I'm wrong. I had a cat several years ago that was allergic to cat nip. It didn't mellow him out AT ALL. It was like putting him on speed. My mom and I spent HOURS trying to wear him out. We lived in an apartment at the time. We eventually used a laser pointer to run him up the stairs and back down into the front door where he Spider-cat'd up until he scratched the ceiling. His sister took to staying on the back of the couch but sometimes he would run laps around the living room and kitchen and run over her. She got angry enough (she had been a very chill cat) to chase him for the next 30 or so minutes. So tiring but it was a very funny night.

Chickens DO eradicate ticks, quite effectively, at least ours do. Chickens kinda "rake" the earth while they scratch the earth looking for bugs, which can disturb some plants. They will devour any tomatoes you try to grow. I think Jun would like chickens, they become like outdoor gardening buddies, always interested in what you are doing and wanting to be involved in any digging projects. But again, that's been my experience. Our chicken eggs tast so rich and the yolks are a deep orange and are rather plump.
@GriffinWarrior
@GriffinWarrior 4 года назад
You can also train chickens, at least any that show the aptitude. My experience has been that one in every five chickens has a sort of "spark" or interest in humans and what we do and have a desire to be involved in what we do.

Pineapple sage gets huge with red flowers, not the culinary kind, mine is a perennial. Rue is a great bug deterrent and smells great.

My cat Anya loves watching Rachel and Jun videos with me. Mainly waiting for Haku to show up. She constantly tries to find him whenever he left the frame 😆 thanks for these videos and hope Jun's foot heals well and fast :)

I've grown sage, rosemary (in a pot if you get a lot of rain, can't stand wet feet), thyme, oregano, basil, parsley, fennel, carrots, rue & dill. Anything in the parsley family, all after parsley, attracts Black Swallowtail butterflies in the US, don't know about Japan. I had a beautiful topiary rosemary that I had grown in a pot in our RV for 10 years, put it in the ground when we bought a house. We had 5 inches of rain and it died in 2 days!

Aww you should do a little fireworks night once summer is here! (assuming that we can all go outside by that time). Jun can show Rachel 線香花火 and maybe some other summer evening traditions in Japan.

Herbs. My dad and I keep trying to grow our own. Not always the most successful. We’re trying which I’m sure our dogs will appreciate. We don’t let them have a lot and we checked with the vet, but both our dogs love munching on basil! Weird dogs I know. One even loves mint. Since I do too she keeps begging for mine. I swear our dogs are mini horses sometimes, what with their love of carrots and apples too (seeds removed). Loved watching this! Thanks for posting it!

Your Bonsai is lovely. I moved from Arizona to Oregon last year, and I have no idea how to grow anything here. I'm used to growing full sun herbs and veggies like cilantro, rosemary and tomato. My Mom tried tomatoes last year, but we couldn't find a spot that got enough sun. I need to research good stuff to grow in the shade.
