In today's video I'm planting an emerald green arborvitae hedge, and creating 2 large no dig garden beds. The no dig garden beds were created by suffocating my lawn with cardboard, then adding compost on top. These no dig beds will be my new expanded veggie garden. This was a lot of work but made such a big difference to my property and I finally have way less of a back yard and way more of a back garden and some space to grow.

Nice to see such enthusiasm. Don't mean to be negative but from one gardener to another...cardboard no dig can be a great way to go...landscape material ends up being a nightmare most of the time 😢. Hope you are the exception to the rule tho.❤❤❤

I appreciate the advice Sandi. I try to use landscape fabric only in areas where I know I will never plant (like under this hedge). Cardboard would not have been enough for this particular situation as it’d break down in a season or two and I’d have to be hand pulling weeds as I wouldn’t be able to spray near trees.

They look very healthy and what type of soil do you have. Happy gardening.

Thank you! 💚🙏🏽 I’d say we have clay loam with lots of rocks in it. It’s not very well draining and is very hard to dig in when it’s dry but I’ve noticed so long as I have drip irrigation on most things and plant high, not many things have minded it.
