I was afraid that was the case! I just stumbled on his channel, and wondered why he hasn’t posted in a couple years. R.I.P. Larry! He seemed like a good dude! I just hope it wasn’t that thing ‘they’ wanted ALL of us to get, that was supposed to work SOOO well! Yet, from the beginning took MANY lives!!! IYKYK!
You're fabulous, mate. My dad tried tobacco seeds a couple of years ago, and I think he kept them in dark and humidity for too long and they all ended up with damping off. So he was really disheartened and didn't want to try them again. So I bought some seeds this year to get them started for him, and they're doing great mainly because of your vids. Now they're started, he's getting pretty excited and it's a good hobby for him:) Thanks so much!
I started my seeds directly in the sun on the side of my patio and only one sprouted. Its been 20days today and its still growing, very small but still growing thank god. I thought I wouldnt have any luck growing these microscopic seeds but at least one came to live haha.
Excellent video larry. Very informative. Self sufficient is my new motto. I'm brewing my own beer. Distilling my own liquor. And growing tobacco is my new project
When growing taller crops like this you can plant low growing nitrogen fixers like clover to deal with the nitrogen and help with moisture retention in the soil.
Hey Larry,,,my second attempt at germinating "your seed,,Big Thanks". First died from a too chilly a night "in the spare bedroom". The light wasn't enough to keep it warm. Now, starting to warm up here "East Texas" and I'm going to start germinating again later today. Won't have them in the chilly spare room but in the hallway "warmer" and in a large box with a light. Thanks for all the help info !
Just ran across your videos and love them so far. Definitely wanting to grow some tobacco it’s very sacred to my people. Gonna have to find a place to get some good seeds from as it’s probably way too late to take you up on your mail seeds to subscribers lol
Hiya Larry. Thanks so much for the amazing teaching videos. I'm in the UK, is it possible 4:30 to get some of your tobacco seeds? If possible, How much are the seeds? Thanks 😊

Hi Larry: Great video!! Very helpful. Thank You. I have tobacco planted in my organic garden here in New York. Two types for the pipe: Orinoco, and Black Sea Samsun (Turkish). So far, so good. This is my first time growing tobacco. As we get closer to harvest time, I may have some questions for you. Thanks again. Be Well. Ed

You're video helped me out to see how home growers grow their own tobacco. i plan to grow soil during spring and summer and hydroponically indoors during fall and winter and encourage friends that use tobacco to grow their own. i have wild aztec tobacco seeds coming so i'm excited to start growing indoors for now :) Awesome video.
What a great series! I live in Michigan and you answered every problem I experienced when I tried to grow tobacco! I did everything wrong! Gonna try and grow my own pipe tobacco again next summer! Do you sell seed? Please let me know!!! 👍
I got my seeds this year online off of urban farmer. First year doing it and they are already huge in their small pots. About to start hardening them off
Jeremy from Vancouver Island British Columbia.Larry Hall you rock buddy!!!! Love how your videos are put together.Canadian taxation is crazy high on tobacco could you send me some seeds?
Did you try VA Gold grown tobacco rolled in cigarettes with filters? Does the homegrown tobacco taste better inhaled than that of store bought cigarettes?

I just typed in Larry Hall, Brandon Minnesota to get an address and I found his obituary . He died in May last year. www.brainerddispatch.com/obituaries/4615776-larry-hall
your video was very helpful and had lots of good information plain and simple. thanks for posting! -- somebody had just given me three small plants that are more than ready to go into the ground and i have NEVER grown tobacco before & i don't know the kind of tobacco it is, does that matter and how can i find out the type it is?
Great and informative video. Now I'll go back to see the first one about germinating. I'm looking at getting some farm land in a few years, and will be trying tobacco aquaponically in NFT tubes. I figure it will be a great way to grow on the many (otherwise unusable) hillsides I expect from any property I will be able to afford in the foothills of the California mid to upper central valley. I would be spacing them out between rows a bit more, and planting lavender in between the rows to keep out weeds, and shade the pipe tubes to keep them cool. Roots don't like hot water nutrient solution very much. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
I'm just in the first season auf growing my own tobacor here in good old Europe (Germany). Country i'm only growing Virginia. I have seen a lot of videos about harvesting tobacco, yours or the best! But I have one question do you have no problems with snails in the US? The red and brown snails here are a pain in the as, because they love too.
I am from Iceland.. thats right almost at the north pole :) i have just put my seeds in soil and i will experiment with tobacco growing outside this summer.. i sure hope it will work.. and thanks for the video
Mr.Hall are you still sending out seeds? Also dumb question would the plants be okay in a greenhouse during the colder months? Or would it be better to start after winter? I'm in Oklahoma and getting a late start. I'm interested in growing for pipe tobacco and cigars. I have also heard for different types, grow far apart to not cross pollinate, but I'd be growing in 5 gallon buckets hopefully in a greenhouse. Thank you very much for your videos and all your information.
hi, I'm like gardening and stumbled across your vid about growing tobacco, I can't grow the stuff in Australia coz it's illegal to do so, which sux, it have to go through the ATO for permisson and more then likey you won't get it, I think you guys are lucky to grow your own there, it cost me $13.50 for a lower shelf packet of cigs of 25, up to $20 or more for a pack of 25 top shelf, it is interesting to see how it grows tho but I can't grow it here :(
Hi nice to see a fellow tobacco enthusiast and answers appreciated My question is how does the oriental and burley tobacco smell during the curing/drying process (not the fermentation process). I am going to dry them out on the veranda on a clothes hanger. Does the tobacco emit a powerful smell so that it smells that I am smoking all the time or does it smell like weed. I do not wan the neighbors calling the cops because they think I am curing marijuana. Do the plants whilst growing emit a scent. Again I am thinking of the neighbors bothering me and calling the cops.
its my first time growing tobacco and ive been using ur videos for instructions...unfortunatly i didnt read the part about not puting them into direct sunlight, instead of puting them in the shade for a bit then puting them into the sun....so ya i put them in the sun for maybe 20-30 min and they started to wilt like crazy....so im crossing my fingers i didnt kill them.
You start seeds indoors and move your transplants outside in spring! People are raising tobacco in Alaska no problem for you! For more info go to how to grow tobacco dot com
Hi Larry, omg! I did not know we could grow tobacco here in mn.. The heck with peppers and cucumbers, I want to grow Tobacco. How do I get starter plants??
Hi Larry I am going to be growing my own tobacco this year (I don't smoke but my father does and it'll save him some money) the fertalizer you spoke of about how much Manure and Wood Ash do you use? I was going to grow a few plants indoors as well so i was going to use the 5g bucket idea (those are just for fun though)
I would put a hanful of wood ash and use about 1 cup of 10-10-10 fertilizer around the top of the bucket after you plant it! Thanks So Much For Watching The Video! See All My Most Popular Video's By Category On Pinterest! www.pinterest.com/larryhall50/boards/
I'm curious how you prepare the tobacco for rolling cigarettes. I use to purchase leaf tobacco from a guy out in California but I never could come up with a good way to chop it up to use it in my rolling machine. If you have any suggestions I would sure appreciate it.
Hi Larry, A guy living in sweden here. Do you have any tips for growing a single plant indoors in an apartment? I'm doing it just for fun but i still want to succeed. I bought a 30l pot, some basic pot-mix and i just bought a grow light. The plan is to grow them during the winter in a warm corner of the apartment. I also read that tobacco is related to tomatoes so i was planning to use tomato fertilizer, heard it works great. I was planning on using this since ash or manure isn't really a great idea in an apartment. Any tips? ideas? pointers?
Never have done it but give it a try! Thanks for watching my video! I appreciate that! Check out all my most popular videos by category on Pinterest! www.pinterest.com/larryhall50/
Thanks Larry for the info, and I'm mailing as we speak, im excited! theres just too many additives in stuff today and doc has told me i have c.o.p.d but i love a good smoke man! so ,maybe a lil more healthier! lol, but how many seeds in each hole, and how deep? 1/2 inch? how much will 1 plant yield? I'll keep in touch with u thru the process but thx brother, Oh BTW, I got family there in roundlake,Mn just sayin.....take care Alan Caudill.
I loved the Video just starting tobacco here in VA, and would love to grow the Virginia Gold, DO you still have seeds for sale or do you send them out some way or another ?

Nice video! You mentioned a blend of tobaccos might be better for taste and to alleviate the ammonia level. Is there a blend you would recommend or a good reference sight for blend "recipes"?
Hi Larry great vid. You mention using up all the nutrients as the tobacco nears harvest time, does this mean there is a point I should stop fertilizing? Or switch to less nitrogen?
Hello there I'm still waiting for a stamp but if the first week of march is too late I'll understand and perhaps try again next year though my growing season does not start till mid April.. I'm sorry for the delay. thanks for sharing Larry :)
Larry, I harvested my plants a little late and I have almost completely dry brown leaves (only on the bottomest part of the plant stalk) that now look like curled up cinnamon bark growing on the bottom part of the plant. Because they are so brown and dried, are they immediately smokable? What do I do with them?
I live in Ireland and our weather is very cold and wet here, Can you still grow your own Tobacco in this climate, Im only starting out Can you give some advice please..... Very little sun here.
i have been making my cigarettes for over 15 years and now im going to try to grow my own to save some money not ready to quit yet what kind of seed would you recommend for growing in west texas with the winds that we have and I have also heard that used coffee grounds is high in nitrogen do you recommend this and if you do how much do you use for each plant I have an acre that I don't use and I was going to use for this how many plants should I plant I smoke about a pound every 2 weeks waiting anxiously and patiently to hear from you thank you tina

Hi thanks for this informative video. i live in Wales, UK and am thinking of planting tobacco. A lot of the videos here and forums online gear for the USA and i just wondered if any of your subscribers or indeed yourself had any advice or links for UK growing? Obviously we get very very cold snowy winters here in Wales and i wondered if a wise idea may be to grow undercover in this country?
hi Larry, you have some great vids, just one question I have hardened off my virg. gold plants and some leaves have turned white but the plants are still ok. do I just nip off white leaves at this early stage or just leave them (am in England and have extremely hot weather at the moment) thanks n subbed.
Thanks for the info. This is something I would like to try. I could sure use some seeds if you have some. I live in S. Texas and plan to get started this spring. I do container gardening using 5 gallon buckets, I have about 50 as well as other recycled/re-purposed plastic containers I use around the house and backyard for vegetables (We live in a subdivision so space restricted).
Hi Larry, great vids. Have a question. Will they grow as big and healthy if I plant them on 5 gallon buckets? I know you said it, but on a picture on your video the ones on the buckets look really small.
Many thanks to you for this video...just wanted to ask ...the seeds if one would want to harvest the seeds does one leave the flower? And for how long ?
I live in an apartment. No outdoors anywhere to grow it. What would you suggest then? I was thinking clearing my other kitchen table off and growing it all on that table in plant pots with a light over it. Any ideas? seems you do not notice my question....

where I live, the coldest day is like 48,5F°. Can I grow them at any time of the year? Can I geminate and plant them out now? November? It is like 65 right now and 40F at night.
Still possible to send you an envelope? I got some from you 5 ish years ago, last time around total fail in the garden, and no flowers!! Ahhhhhh We used to come through Brainerd when we summered in mn. Have a place in laporte, but its been ages since i was out that way
