Thanks for your time getting video for us it was a good one. That Oliver really sounds tough and I mean really good!!! Listening it really sounds crisp and throaty!!! She is a horse. The White is a war horse without saying. Sure pulls strong.

I have a Garmin GPS that you can hold in your hand (I usually use a Ram mount on the handlebars of a quad) and drive around the perimeter of the field. When you get back to where you started you just hit “Calculate” and it gives you the area in acres. Cost less than $300 and it’s very accurate.

I have one like that I inherited. Its years old like from the late 90's and it can do the same. So you can find used ones for less.

That planter is working nice. I enjoy watching for instance the Welkers out west with their 60+ foot planters with carts. But this is more what I am used to here in the upper south.

Do you have any trouble with hard pan condition in your soils? I am in Georgia and most all of our ground is strip tilled with a subsoil type plow now for corn and cotton and double crop soybeans. Only think we mold board plow is our peanut land to bury the trash. We just spray a burn down apply fertilizer and strip it then plant. Some people run strip till planter combination plows for one trip planting. Would something like that work in your soil? I know different parts of the country are farmed differently. Just curious...
@Oliver66FarmBoy
@Oliver66FarmBoy Год назад
Strip till lasted for about 3 years here. Didn’t work for shit.

So you seem to love your old equipment. If you got a boatload of money would you buy newer equipment with the new technology? Around by me there's not to many little farms left.
@Oliver66FarmBoy
@Oliver66FarmBoy Год назад
No I’d buy land. Equipment doesn’t mean anything.

I know what you mean about hay season drawing ever nearer. Seems like I looked out one day and the fields barely had any growth, look out the next and the fescue is 2.5-3 feet tall. Wish our Bermuda fields looked that good. I really need to come up with a good herbicide program for them if I intend on keeping them in hay much longer. That or moldboard them under and start over. Consistent cuttings haven't been doing much to help the weeds we have unfortunately.

When you converted the planter to 30" were you able to switch the monitor to 30" as well for the acre/area count/cover?
@Oliver66FarmBoy
@Oliver66FarmBoy Год назад
There is no switching the monitor. It’s asks what the row spacing is whenever it starts up.

This is a sincere question and I do not mean any disrespect. Why do you record in 480p instead of 720p or higher? I mean it doesn't matter, I would watch your videos if you recorded them in the dark or with the lens cap on, but I was just wondering. I know Chris Losey also records in 480p. I just thought about it when you were trying to show the wildlife. Great video and always love the frequency with which you upload content. Keep 'em coming.
