So cool that you can plant banana trees where you are! Also it is good to plant anything away from fence because your neighbours may not like having your plants/trees hanging over on their side. I accidentally planted a tree 20 years ago when new to gardening close to fence and my neighbour was so nasty, used to rip/break off overhanging heavy branches and toss them into my yard damaging all my flowers planted below. We ended up cutting it down it was too much stress. It was an honest mistake that became a huge issue.
Sweet lady I know who lives in Oak Cliff and blogs on RU-vid as Gardening with Lady Cheryl grew a Small Jamaican banana with red-hued leaves and fruit. It snowed on her and the plant completely disappeared but came back up the next year. I'm almost tempted to try one!
Wondered where y'all went. Started watching when you were in VA, as I am. You popped back up just in time as I'm getting ready to plant 3 Elephant Ear bulbs. My girlfriend grew them for years & never got bananas, wonder if because of our climate?
Good afternoon!!! I love you guys, have been an inspiration, please don’t take this as negative comment, maybe you overlooked, if you paint the fence before planting that would be a background for your plants
it would be so amazing to walk out back and pick a banana; how awesome that would be! I really like that y'all are both working in the garden now and starting the process of making the land your own. Welcome back to Texas. I thank you and your family for your service. It's awesome having Texas gardening content to watch
Hi, recently found your show. Watched because my kids were transferred recently to Texas so was Watching for what they could plant. When you had previouly mentioned ,living in No Carolina and Virginia, I thought, military stations. Today you mentioned marines. One of your older videos you were taping in secret garden . Virginia any chance it was on Quantico? Visited kids many times and would help with planting a little. Grow bags and few flowers. Their area would be so wet with the clay.I remember my daughter showing me a Facebook photo of a lady who had plants all covered her patio. Love to garden. What was the soil you used in tomatoes self watering pot? Thank you for your service, not an easy life for families. I wonder if it was you? many
Thank you so much for your comments. Yes we did live in Quantico and gardening there helped us a lot through the rough times. There are plenty of videos of our garden there and about 90% of our yard were container plants. It was a great experience overall. We also worked a lot with the community bringing container gardening to their homes. I used Espoma potting soil for the tomato.💚💚💚💚💚💚
