I love the way you say, "We." "Remember when WE transplanted this peony and that one and there's another one back there last year? It's always "we," instead of "I." I always think to myself, "Why yes, I do remember when WE did that." You probably don't even think about it, but it's really special because we do feel like we're there with you.
I’m so proud of you for feeling okay to lessen your load in certain areas of your garden. Such wisdom you’ve shared in this decision… so many try to do ALL the things, but often it makes other areas actually suffer. Like, our sanity. 😊 I have prayed that you don’t take on more than you can handle because I’d be so sad if you got burnt out and stopped enjoying yourself. ❤ Wise lady you are! ❤️
I’ve been watching GA for about 3 years now. You kept talking about how wonderful bubblegum was. My mother and I always loved petunias, but had no luck , so we had given up. I finally bought 1 bubblegum to try and we were pleasantly surprised by how well it did. Mom was thrilled! She passed a year ago, but not before she could enjoy her beloved petunias. Thank you so much for that. This year I am growing 4 different petunias. Wish me luck!
I only have a porch to put plants on so I decided to try the Sure Fire Rose Begonia in pots. My porch gets morning sun and the plants are awesome. The blooms don't fall off at the slightest touch like the older versions.
The Laura Edition auger I bought from your online store is a total game changer and back saver for sure! I feel pretty cool using it while sporting my Garden Answer t-shirt. I'll admit...I'm a GA Junkie!🤩
Since learning that moving a plant is just okay, I did some revamping in my garden this spring. After awhile I thought I could hear the bushes whimpering to each other, “Here comes that old woman with the shovel again!” They all did great and I am much happier with the changes. Was inspired as my small garden is in the area garden walk at the end of June. Thank you for all the inspiration!
Oh, Laura, I’m so proud of you for cutting back on your tomatoes this year. It seems you have always ended up with thirty something every year. A lot of work….and space….to end up giving them away. I’ve noticed lately that you seem to be “working smarter not harder” as the saying goes. Just little things here and there that make a difference. I’m glad you’re feeling less pressure. Planting tomatoes in the rose garden instead of roses when you’re not sure what you’re going to do about the rose spacing is such a good idea. You have a lot more property and a lot of projects. It’s good to see you going with the flow and relaxing a bit with all that’s going on. You love what you do and you are fortunate to be able to do what you love for a job. Relaxing with the process is a game changer. Kudos. 👍🌺🥰
My goodness you were a busy girl today. Well everyday, who are we kidding. Sooo beautiful Laura. I just love the education you give to us gardeners out here. Especially like me who is learning day by day with your videos. My beautiful yard is only getting more beautiful thanks to you. Be blessed. See you in the next one!!🌿🌿🪴🪴🦋🦋🦋🌳🌳🐝🐝🐝
Thank you for stopping to show us the peonies! With all we see you plant, it’s nice to see how those plants grow on and flush out. I know you share this on your garden tours, but a quick stop to show us something feels similar to how I enjoy my own garden… seeing things day by day as they bring their own beauty.
Dear Video Editor -- THANK YOU so much for the soothing background music, slower-speed footage, and drone footage during the planting of the Supertunia Bubble Gum! Is it possible to do more of that? Gardening, though hard work, should always be a relaxing, restorative process. Well done!
Your gardens are like the Garden of Eden. No issues with rabbits, deer or rampant squirrels. No serpents either 😉Everything thrives. You plant a tree and it grows so quickly. I know a lot of work goes into it but dang I go outside a tree I put in is scraped bare by a buck. 😩 You give us all hope.
I wonder if low humidity has something to do with it ( aside from her gardening skills). In humid areas it’s so wet where slugs, and fungal diseases are so common.
In Atlanta here and already ran into five copperheads since I started planting in early April! That's the most I've ever found in my yard. They were babies, but found in all different areas, which makes me a little bit nervous. Like they've surrounded us! And already nursed a few mosquito and spider bites... When I see Laura putting her bare hands into places I hold my breath often! The good news is, my five year old blueberry bushes are FILLED with berries right now! Usually the deer get them. Not sure why this year, perhaps my neighbor's getting all the visitors. And Rhonda, I've only had to water my garden once in the last five weeks, the rain's been fantastic here.
Laura, I’ve been watching your channel for a couple of years and you continue to keep the inspiration fresh and fun. Thank you for helping me be a better gardener.
I know there will come a day when you will retire or call it quits, so I will enjoy your gardens every day until that sad day comes. Love your family and all the wonderful things you do.
I have such great memories of my entire family going to a local farm, taking a hay ride out to pick pumpkins, and then drinking cider and eating donuts.😊
Totally understandable to want to pair down & condense. I think it's a universal thing of gardening... what we dream vs. what is attainable and realistic. I think we are always trying to find the balance. 💚
Thank you for being so positive & inspirational. I figured why I enjoyed you so much. You are so knowledgeable, truthful, inspirational, thoughtful, appreciative, imaginative, dreamer, nice voice, pretty, your videos have lovely music AND share your beautiful family. But most of all you bring love and beauty to this world. So THANK YOU LAURA so much for what you all do to inspire us.❤❤❤❤🌹🌹🌹🌹🙏🙏🙏🙏🌺🌷🪷🌸💮🏵️🪻🌻🌼
Hi Laura and Aaron! I was wondering if you would consider a butterfly/PeterRabbit/fairy type garden near the play area for Benjamin and Samantha? The garden you made before with Benjamin was so sweet. I remember him picking out plants. I think Samantha would love it! Love your channel, I have my coffee with you every morning.🍄🪺🌸
I'm happy to hear you talk about changing your mind, experience and maturity shining through!! Laura you're such a beautiful light in this world, thank you for sharing your entire family and your life with us.!!
I have a soft spot for begonias, all kinds. My parents’ garden was mostly shaded under live oaks. And begonias were an ever present part of the yard. I especially remember huge angel wing begonia hanging baskets all along the back of the house. Wonderful memories associated with begonias.
14:59 "Look at how much this plant has not resented me for it!" 😂😂😂Love how real you are and so proud of you for recognizing the need to cut back in some areas. None of us know how you do it all already. Looking forward to seeing all that this year brings!
Good morning Laura I love your show. I think you’re very wise to scale back on your tomatoes and pumpkins and other vegetables. I watch a couple of other gardeners as well and most people plant way more than they need. It’s nice to put in what you will use and what you plan to share, good choice
Love, love, love your trick of removing the begonias from their pots prior to taking them to the planting area! I tried this, and it's so nice not wrestling with all the pots and labels while planting. Thanks for your continued inspiration!
Laura One suggestion: maybe it would be nice to put those black benches under the Maples, but on the side where you planted the Begonias, and on the other side to put some smaller urns. In the summer, it is beautiful to sit in the shade under the Maples and look at the rest of the yard. Great time.
Morning Sweet Laura, Aaron, and Children, Sure love the new changes on your property, garden is all about the change.Hope all is going your way, stay safe, Sending my love and God's blessings 🙏🙏🙏🙏 to you all.Wabda In Bartlesville, Ok.
Awww...Your pumpkin harvest videos have become a fall tradition in my household. You always have such wonderful uses for them, and grow such fabulous varieties. I understand your reasons for changing your mind this year, I will miss the harvest video this year!
@@angelarios8305I don’t think the sponsors had anything to do with it. Laura is free to plant what she likes. I think it’s more about space and time management this year. The dream stream is being installed in October. Plus, last year she had to be really careful of black widows in the open field patch so the kids couldn’t be quite as involved. If she takes a breather this year then next year she’ll find a space because she does love to grow them.
Nicely edited video - loved the music with Laura's work - it fit beautifully together. Thank you again to everyone at Garden Answer for all your hard work!
Planting annuals is always fun, and it sure brings me joy to see all those beautiful trees in the background growing and providing structure. The before and after in the east bed really showcases the impact. This video feels different in a good way, I’m not sure if it’s the music, but I like it.
Laura I’m excited for anything that gives you time to work on new areas of your wonderful garden. Going to buy pumpkins will be such fun for the children. And not being overwhelmed by produce will be freeing. I’m eager to see what you will do in front of the house, the dream stream, the dirt lands and the playground area as well as all the other areas. I’m amazed you get so much done. Can’t wait to see more. 😎👍🏼
Laura, you could market yourself as an efficiency expert! I am just as fascinated by how you set up your process as what you plant and why. Today it was how you took all the begonias out of their containers at the gator and put them in the cardboard tray and planted them from that. Simple step but, in my eyes, genius! No plastic containers to deal with as you’re planting! And you do this ALL the time and I love seeing it. It jives with my love of order and, well, efficiency. I’ve been watching you and Aaron since townhouse days. You are in my morning routine and ALWAYS give me new, great ideas. I have to say that not only do I feel such a deep gratitude for your happy, healthy RU-vid offerings, but I also feel an abiding affection for you and your family. Thanks! Thanks! Thanks! ❤ PS you posted something on Instagram not too long ago where Benjamin and Samantha Grace were pulling weeds instead of helping you bake brownies, and I could listen to Samantha Grace say Benjamin‘s name 1 million times and it wouldn’t be too many. So Flippin adorable. 😂❤😂❤
I was surprised that I had never thought about taking the plants out of their containers and taking them to their new home. I've always disliked having to corral those wind blown plastic containers at the planting site.
Great video, cant wait to see the bubble gum suoertunias start filling in they are going to be very beautiful and such a large impact. And the veggies are looking great ❤
Hi Laura! We gardeners always change things up and we learn as we go. The garden is constantly evolving and the journey is always fun! Thanks for sharing that with us!
Love the evolution of your garden and how you purpose your time. Taking the begonias out then in a tray. Smart, efficient step. Time well spent! Very excited for your family. Lovely and peaceful part of my day. God bless!
Sorry for so many comments. Just wanted to add I'm in zone 6b and I have given up on Buddleia. I planted 3 dwarf Lo & Behold and lost all of them. When I shopped for replacements, I read so many negative comments (on Buddleia in general) that I decided to take a different direction.
Excellent camera work capturing planting the tomatoes & showing the drip line! Excellent perspective!!❤️👀❤️ This is one of the ways your videos stand out from others. Music is also pleasing & positive & active . Excellent!!!
This is by far my favorite gardening utube Laura and Aaron and kiddos and kitties oh my!! I've recommended it to many friends. Carry on and thrive my friends on Garden Answers.
I'm so excited for the supertunia experiment with 26 plants. Sometimes I'll flip threw your monthly tour episodes and watch them change over the seasons. I'd love some before and after type videos.
Idk how to express how much I love these daily videos ❤I always learn something, and so enjoy seeing your gorgeous property. Your family adds the icing on the cake❤ great way to start my day with a cup of joe❤
Hi Laura and family I'm 1day behind on this video but, that's ok now I get to watch 2 this morning. The begonias are going to look great yum on the tomatoes. Thank you Laura for sharing this video hope you all had a great day. 👋🙂
Those begonias looked so beautiful two years ago I’m glad you are repeating it. Do you know how much you influence plant choices? When I see something I like in your videos and go to buy it - a lot of times they are sold out. I think God smiles at all the all the different plants growing now because of you and Aaron 😊
I first started watching the Garden Answer channel when the brick walkway was being installed, creating the west side garden. I have been a non-stop viewer ever since. I have gone into "the archives " and binge watched most of the available videos from the start... boy, what a transformation your property (and your lives) has taken through the years.♡ The Surefire Rose Begonias are going to be stunning in their spot under the trees. As you were planting, I could envision the black benches on the opposite side along the pathway... maybe with a simple pot of Surefires and Dichondra Silverfalls combo on each side of each bench? ♡
Last year I put just 4 vista bubblegum in a 10 x 25 space and they were soooo vigorous they ate the rose bushes behind them and the African daisies and lemon coral sedum in front of them! So this year I planted 3 and will prune them regularly. On another more protected space, they wintered over and have been 2 feet high by 4 feet wide for a month already. I’ve trimmed them weekly to keep them from climbing the roses and alliums, and covering over the alyssum at the edges.
The weather in Pa 6B was in our favor and was able to get my front gardens planted. I economized by choosing fewer plants this year. Hopefully Mother Nature will allow them to grow and flourish!
Laura you are showing such wisdom !! Less is more and you will find you enjoy your garden and family!! It’s good to find flowers that perform great and reuse them. Although your job is to try new plants BUT REMEMBER YOUR GARDEN SHOULD BRING JOY!! 😊! Enjoy watching you and your gardens grow🤓
Espoma needs to make a spout for you on those backs. So you don't have to rip it open you just open a little plastic spout and it has a little pour out.
I need to start watching your videos in the afternoon after work because I always feel ready to go. If I watch in the morning, the feeling is gone by the time I get done with work!
Have you ever shared your favorite soap for using after gardening to get all of the dirt off and favorite hand lotion to keep you fingers from cracking? I am not a fan of gardening gloves either, but my hands take a beating!
My goodness, look at how far your property has come! It is beyond stunning!! I'm happy you're lightening your load some now too, you are so much more relaxed and don't seem so overwhelmed. Ease back now, once your littles start extracurriculars you'll be happy you did. Pumpkin farms are some of my kids and grandkids fondest memories. So much fun!
Putting mangaves in those urns on the west side garden would be beautiful and very structurally interesting. You wouldn’t need to worry about clashing colors either. Maybe if you have space you can underplant it with lemon coral sedum.
Aaron, your editing is so well done! I really appreciate the hard work you put into the videos . Laura, I'm glad you are paring down some just for your sake! I have fond memories of meeting you two in Rhode Island a couple of years ago.
I enjoyed this video. Planting those begonias was very educational for me. I bought some last year and I just didn't do something right. Thank goodness proven winners refunded my money with a gift card. They're really a class act. So with this video I will have some insight on what to do. Thank you for all that you and Aaron do for us. I have learned so much from you all.
Glad to hear its ok to amend the soil annually in containers instead of replacing it unless you've had an infestation..Thats something I've always felt was ok but it made me feel better hearing you say it is was ok..Lol If you have big containers that can be quite the task!!
I love your story, your memories of picking out a pumpkin when you were little. You are supporting a small farm so all good memories for your children! I love your videos! Hoping to start my garden soon!
Oh so much to love about this video. At about 15:50, the shots of you planting, framed in all the green, lovely! The grass is spectacular too. Plus just enough music so you can still hear the birds. Perfection. Also love the ground level filming. You are just such a joy to watch. Thank you for sharing with us.
"Their roots are sensitive to rotting, and if they spend any amount of time in wet soil, they can be set back or even die. Most of the time, if you lose a butterfly bush after winter, it wasn't due to low temperatures or snow or ice - it was because the plant sat in cold, wet soil in fall or spring." Proven Winners
My husband & I are daily watchers and LOVE you guys! Question - how do Paul and Bethany know what you would have them tackle each day? Do you all chat each morning or have some sort of calendar? You all work so in sync with one another! Thank you both!
Laura, I know we should be content with who we are and what we have, but I must admit I'm jealous of your knowledge of drip irrigation! It's such an important way to save water. I wish I could find a tutor to teach me how to do that. You make it look so easy. My town has such a prolific gardening mentality, if someone were to begin classes on irrigation, they would have huge success.
