Oh yes, katydid eggs! I love these guys, so neat. Sometimes they look like a welder stopped by. I find these quite often, along with katydids.

I am from the western side of Oregon where blackberries are a nuisance. When I moved out of state I had job as a cashier. A customer came came through my line with a blackberry plant and I was so confused! I could not believe what I was seeing and told them I should have been in the blackberry selling business!

Love blackberries! They grow wild here and I have fond memories of my dad giving my brother and I a bucket and sending us out on our bikes to go find berries for homemade ice cream and cobbler. Can't wait to see how these grow. The south garden is really coming together

Those katydid eggs. They overwinter. They hatch in spring but, it is so close and our weather in Oregon this year has been pretty mild. I love the perfect symmetry of how they lay their eggs!

Great job! We have grown Triple Crown blackberries in our zone 8b California garden for the last 15 years. They are wonderful! I would like to tear out the other two varieties we have altogether and just leave the Triple Crown. Enjoy!!

Triple Crown is more of a vining type of blackberry, and it will quickly take over a trellis or arbor. I have to train mine like a climbing rose, weaving the very long canes back and forth.

As a first time gardener, I am learning so much from you! Even the simple way you set up materials for efficient work! Kudos to your photographer/videographer for their skills!!

Blackberries always make me feel nostalgic... Growing up in Oregon there were blackberry bushes EVERYWHERE. There was a field behind our house and in the back there were bushes (we had some right at our fence line, but my dad would cut them back cause they were a pain!) and we'd go back there and pick TONS and eat them fresh or make blackberry vanilla milkshakes... If they lasted that long haha. I have no clue what varieties any of the bushes were, but they were always so big and plump and delicious!

A great tool for your arsenal would be a Wilton trenching spade to slip watering tube into the soil without digging up a larger ditch.

Take 3 different photos and send or take to your County Extension office. They "usually" have a number of resources to consult. Or, usually, they can send it off to an Oregon Extension lab for an official I. D. May cost a nominal fee.

Thank you, Laura, for this tidbit of information. I know your video is on blackberries, but at the end you talked about gathering your strawberries together into a waist-high type of raised garden, and THAT is what really caught my attention today. BINGO! Sam's Club has a raised container planter that is 44" X 18" X 33" high for just over a hundred dollars in my Middle TN, Zone 7 area. I'd already decided that I am going to invest in one of them this season for my back deck area, but was still mulling over what I wanted to plant in it. Meanwhile, I also have a large, plastic wash tub of strawberries that will be going on it's third summer, I believe. That container is aged and cracking and needing to be replaced. So now, because of your nonchalant side comment about strawberries at the end, I am going to transplant my strawberries, and add to them, into that raised garden that I want from Sam's. It will be perfect. Thank you for the inspiration you give. THANK YOU so much for sharing your lives with us! May God continue to bless you and keep you in the palm of His hand.

I like this video! It was a whole buffet of Garden Answer! A little bit of harvest, a little of sweet baby girl, some biology mystery, the family and garden center, and planting with some tips. Your my hero, love the berry beds and the garden. I can’t imagine what you will do with all the new things in your garden. It a journey I’ve loved watching.

My parents have blackberry bushes in southern California, my Mom planted 3 branches she got from her brother who cut them from wild blackberries on his property near Yosemite. She literally stuck them into the ground near a border fence and they grew and spread and took over the whole fence that I think is about 30 feet long and 6 feet tall and they reach over the fence all the way to the ground on the other side into the neighbors side yard and they have to cut them back just so they don’t grow into the walkway but they let them grow and harvest too. My Mom fills her freezer with what she harvests and gives away a lot to neighbors and family and can’t harvest it all. The birds love them too. They have been growing there for now over 20 years and she has never fertilized them, my Dad has cut them back every few years when they get too thick. They are the biggest, juiciest and sweetest blackberries I have ever had and we have no idea what kind they are but it’s now impossible for me to eat any other blackberries.

I am excited too!!!! Can't wait to see everything greening up & producing flowers, fruit & berries! Samantha Grace is so cute, she is growing up too quickly!! Wasn't it just yesterday that you brought her as a newborn home from the hospital?! Anyway great informative video!! 😃🌿💚

Cylinder towers with multiple openings would be really cool for the strawberries! Put them in the corners of the berry patch like pretty edible pillars. They’d look so pretty trailing down the sides of the tower. 🍓

Could you plant strawberries with your blackberries and raspberries? I was once in a community garden that did that and they performed beautifully. It also helped with weed control and maybe satisfy Laura's need to cover every square inch of dirt. 😍😂
