That’s amazing that you can keep equipment together in a field that rocky! Can’t wait to see more planting footage and I hope there’s late season freezes don’t hurt any of your crops.

I try to be really careful and not push it in that field. That field can be unforgiving on the equipment

Your rocks remind me of farming in Wigtownshire in Galloway Scotland, you would never be able to gather stones fast enough. Though some farmers believe that the soils warm faster in rocky stony areas. But they certainly tried in my area, hence the thousands of miles of drystone wall still in use today, great videos keep up the good work. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿👍

Some really awesome footage Mike! I see what you mean about the rocks there’s quite a few in that field. I can remember being younger and picking rocks by hand all day and then looking behind you and feeling like you didn’t even do anything lol. Also I was listening to Andy Hourigans Live stream the other day while I was in the tractor, and he was talking about a John Deere tractor that they traded in that you guys actually still have today. That’s pretty cool. Take care man hope you and your family are staying healthy and safe.

Get that or poor guy an air seat. You got some rocks. Around here we have widely scattered small ones but most of ours are between 20-75 lbs and the occasional 200 lbs boulder.

Maybe invest in a rock rake.... great video mike... keep up the great work... hopefully the cold ground doesn’t hurt the yields!

Thanks Boss. It shouldn't hurt the yields. Having all these rocks in this field isn't anything new. I got videos of combining soybean in this field last year and corn the year before that

Yeah this field can be a headache if you aren't careful. Next year I'm going to buy a rock bucket and get some of the big ones out of there

I have several friends in the midwest..I try to tell them how rocky our soil is.. When they show pics of them plowing or digging out there i always ask if they had sand brought in for fill.lol

@@mikep7810 Had to dig a hole for my back porch for a 8x8 post.. 1 hole three guys hour and a half. only got down about 38 inchs. pulled out an entire wheelbarrow full of rocks.. Hole was almost 4 feet across by time we got done.. Yeah we got rocks around here for sure.

With all due respect, this looks a lot like a Northern Wisconsin field, especially the clay-soil hills. Camp No-Fun exists in NY too. I have to think fields in upstate NY around Saranac Lake and in the foothills of the Adirondacks are loaded with stone seeds like I've never seen huh??

We did soybeans in it last year but if you go back a year ago and look at my high moisture corn video you will see us combining corn in that field

I use to plant 1200 acres of corn with JD no-till 7000 8-30 corn planter and a JD 4020 in 3rn gear / We to had rocks in Virginia

Not nearly as good. It still yields decent but not as good as our other fields

It's been awhile since I've helped somebody crop Farm. I'm a maple guy but Isn't it kind of cold to be planting corn? Don't you want the soil temperature to be at least 50°? I'm in the western part of the state and it hasn't been anywhere near that warm around here! We've been getting snow! What are you able to get away with when planting corn in terms of How many days ahead of time you can see a warm up coming?

It drop down a couple days buts its been pretty good temperature wise. Its going to get warmer too. There are a few people around us planting corn too

How many rows does your dad usually make for the headland 12 or 16. I always planted the silage corn a little different from the grain corn. Nice cloudy day up here in central ny.

When I disk, chisel plow, or run the finisher i go back and forth then outsides last to clean up my marks where I turned. When planting you go around the outside first so you know where to pick up your planter or seeder

Milk 50 cows. With heifers and dry cows probably a little over 100 total

No by machine. Milking by hand hasn't been done in a lone time. I believe people started going to the milking machines in the 60s
