Bendiciones 👍❤
Yo tambien ayudaba a mi abuela a esgranar gandules.
I think if you started them indoors to where they grew at least 4 inches then put them in the garden after any frost then I believe they will grow. You can also do the five gallon buckets and bring them indoors in the fall. I hope this helps.
Gandules create nitrogen in their roots. I saw that you planted the Peru corn next to the gandules. You should have a Great success in the growth of the stalks that will come out.
Saludos Ovi I'm excited for you with the gandules nothing like fresh gandules I've being thinking of trying to do the same Good luck with the plants I think you should start practicing with the arroz con gandules cause most likely they'll grow. Muchas Bendiciones
@oviduran thanks. I read that you have to treat them as annuals in cold climates. I was hoping to grow some guandules in ohio. Did you atleast get some peas out of the season?
Did you try growing gandules again? I started mine indoors from seed (Feb). It is now August and no gandules. The plants are approximately 4ft. Hope I have some by Sept. BTW I’m in NJ. I’m sure if I buy the gandules enano i will get better results. A friend of mine in my town was successful but he bought the plants from a nursery in south Jersey
Yes, I planted two plants and you will see them on my next video Saturday. They are gandules enanos. It might be much easier to buy the plants from a nursery. Find out from your friend which nursery he purchased his plants from. I am interested.
@@oviduranI just purchased 10 plants approximately 1.5 ft tall from the nursery. I plan on keeping them indoors until Mother’s Day. If you’re interested I can send you information. Not sure if Vineland, NJ is too much of a drive.
How do you keep groundhogs away from your plants? I'm also in Upstate, NY but I haven't been able to produce a lot veggies due to those animals. They eat everything beans, pumpkin, pepper, you name it. If you have a good technique to keep them away, I'll appreciate it. Blessings! I'm planting gandules this year, I have few plants already but I'm afraid the groundhog will eat them when I take them outside.
A hard task but it can be done. I have a deer fence around my garden, but the groundhogs go under it. One way to prevent that is to wrap hardware cloth or chicken wire a bout two feet high around the perimeter of the fence, and bury about six inches of it. The other way, and the one I used, is to buy a groundhog trap at Home Depot, put peanut butter inside, set it until a groundhog is trapped. Then relocate it. I have only caught one this way but I have another groundhog to contend with.
No. The plants grew but no gandules. I believe it's too cold in upstate NY for this. But they will do fine if you live south of NY. BTW, they must be planted this month if you want gandules before it gets too cold in the Fall.
Love the traditional jíbaro pava hat. Now you need to grow those long puertorriqueño gourds to make your güiro. Start playing some traditional Puerto Rican music.
I’ve been successfully growing that dwarf variety for the last two years here in NC. I got two harvests last year. But I start the seeds indoors first week of march. Check the Compostapr video on gandules Lazaro. Botanical garden UPR. The amount of fruit is amazing!
I have been growing one musa basjoo banana in a container for years, but always indoors. I have the Lazaro gandules plants, maybe about 15 of them and they are growing outside. Should harvest sometime later in the summer.
It's so weird how people feel compelled to water directly onto little seedlings. You can just water around them and they still get watered just fine without risking various seedling diseases that occur with the shoots come in contact with soil.
Quizas yo sea la primera persona en crecer gandules en este estado. Vamos a ver lo que pasa en los proximos tres meses. Si lo logro, voy hacer un arroz con gandules en este canal.
Are you sure they’ll grow in this weather? I thought that they’ll grow only in Florida. If you’re successful then perhaps I could do it in Chicago. Good luck Ovi.
I remember that my mom have a gandules tree and when I pic them and open them its was stress time because I never know what gandul have a worm inside 🤣🤣🤣
The last time I visited my father I helped him too. There were a few small worms but they did not bother me. It's all protein. LOL. I may have different results up here but we won't know for about three months. If successful, then I will make an arroz con gandules on this channel. Fingers crossed.
