I have two daughters. My 15 year old daughter has for the past 10 years said she wants to be a doctor. I encourage her and tell her that she can be a doctor if she is willing to work hard for it. She gets good grades and she is very self disciplined. Gets up early every morning and gets to school on time without me having to nag her. She does her school work again without help. I do believe she has what it takes to reach her dreams. And as I tell her, if she discover along the way that her dreams have changed, that's alright too. My 8 year old daughter doesn't know yet what her dreams are, only that she would like to work with animals. I tell her that she has all the time in the world to figure it out. What ever she chooses to do she will be great! She is a good student too. She asked me once after big sister got a top grade if I was really proud of her. I told her that of course I was proud of her sister, but I was proud that she did her best and if she was a student that had a learning disability and got a much lower grade, I would be equally as proud as long as she did her best. It's not the grade, but the hard work I was proud of. Love from Denmark

You're a great ambassador of not just for the Danish people but also for many Scandinavian countries . The rest of the world should now try and learn and adopt some valuable lessons from these happy Scandinavian countries and societies if we are to evolve into a humanitarian society . You're also a great and humane teacher and the world needs more people like you more so today . Hope you continue to impart and spread your humane wisdom and hope you will one day be awarded with a Nobel peace price for all your tireless efforts .

Live in peace with nature. Treat animals respectfully, carry spiders outside unsteady of hoovering them away, go for a walk in the forest every day, only speak kindly and look for the good in others, make your house/flat a home, every now and then invite someone in your home, grow some veggies in your garden or some herbs on your balcony, cook and eat together with friends, family or strangers, read the bible, listen and dance to music, get up early to watch the sunrise, go to church and pray - and you will be happy, no matter where you live. It's not about living in Denmark or being a Danish person, it's about living in peace with yourself, other human beings, God and the nature and animals. ♡♡♡

I came here because I love Danish culture, style and history... I found this lecture one of the best I ever listen to.

Wow! What an amazing speech. This has really made me really happy. I've always wanted to be a writer and a gardener. Fiction and flowers are like my favorite things. I graduated as the salutatorian of my class and I could feel the tension and wonder on other people's faces when I told them I liked horticulture and I want to be a writer. This speech has really empowered me to strive for what I truly want and not be shaken by people who think I'm silly. Doing what you love is really one of the best ways to be happy!

I love this discourse. I know she means well. I am working on local council development. People are content with misery. Hopeless about their leaders' ability to make signicant changes. Yet, happy to vote for them to serve again. Our culture here is to be miserably happy.

We have something like this in rural India. (Particularly in the south). In small towns and villeges, we all work together and there is a strong sense of trust and community I don't see in the US. The air is fresh, the sky is blue, and the Earth is right beneath your feet. It's quite beautiful. I would recommend that if you have the time and resources, take a trip to rural India. Take a trip into the mountains of East India. You won't regret it.

Becoming you is one of the hardest things to achieve....planting seeds waiting for germination is what makes purpose so worth while...thank you for this ted talk..reminding us that anything is possible..⭐

So often we choose to do what will keep a roof over our heads- because being homeless is not a path to happiness for most people. One of the problems with the culture I live in is not believing all persons involved in a project (company) have a great value and are necessary for the project to be accomplished, not wanting to pay them a "living wage"

Know after I watched this video 😊 and based on details provided, danish people are amazing to let a freeway to human fall into there interested pattern of life this is a freedom country this is a great nation made by great people, what a great nation who understands that life is temporary and we must respect each other support each other and watching successful stories all over the place my respect and gratitude to all danish citizen keep it up mates 😊

Actually she gave us a simple way to finding our own happiness but I assure it's an effective method, we need to be ourselves, we need to trust ourselves and others, for me she presented the solution to our problems perfectly.

I was in Denmark last week and it was fabulous. There's a lot to learn from the Danes.

Planting seeds = creating value - Creating value for self and others, bringing our talents to bear in our immediate environment, having meaningful dialogues and contributing to our community. One Summer I worked as a cleaner in Denmark. It was one of the happiest times of my life. I often describe Denmark as my second favourite country. 'What is my favourite country ?' you may ask; as yet, I haven't decided ! Trust through friendship, peace through trust.

Excellent talk and very profound reflection on how the Danish society functions with high level of trust and freedom of being you, unmasked.

I feel this way about my son, I have noticed even intelligent, caring, gentle parents have ideas of what their children should be. What a waste of time! I would tell these parents to achieve their own goals and set their own intentions for themselves. It is not my responsibility to tell my son what area he should go into, he belongs where he is guided by his own mind.

It really feels like home.

The goal for anyone should be to minimize suffering on themselves, each other and animals.

Hygge... what is it .for me living in Denmark .most of my life but also having resided in the states and japan and traveled to many countries it is the place where you find a moment of peace. Where you sit and relax without thinking of choirs, time or worries. It is right now when i am writing this, it is in 5 min when i have taken my shower and sit and enjoy my cup of tea . It is when i read a book or take in a movie or when i put candles on the table tonight and have a nice dinner with a talk of how life is going with my son and daughterinlaw... hygge is what you make it to be. To be in the moment. To listen to the People that join you. To hear them speak to listen to their voice to feel them... that is hygge.. to take a blanket and curl up on the sofa... to go to the beach for a barbacue in good company.. to have a birthday party in the woods with family and friends... that is hygge... and never rush off to the next thing... the next person... the next spot... be in the moment. And enjoy where you are and with whom you are

Watched the Tour de France in Denmark yesterday 🇩🇰 and the commentators commented how happy the big roadside crowds looked. A sea of cheerful faces and Danish flags. 🇩🇰

My father’s youngest sister married a Danish poet. They were lovely people. Had 3 children. I have been in Denmark many times, and loved it.

Trust, Enthusiasm & Wellbeing 🇩🇰 in our society we enjoy today & Looking forward. Which in fact is a way of life. We recognize the ability to reach individual definition of success. In Denmark growth is not the goal. Our ideology is mainly freedom. Next year or next season is a positive path. Just try not to Take it for granted. We trust eachother by being “naive” or vulnerable individuals. If you cheat us you make a failure against us. I believe in everyone untill they show me the opposite manner in life. Tolerance. 🇩🇰 Whenever We celebrate our goals or achievements. Next year or decade We never Take for granted. In some countries it might be standard to calculate in growth. Just imagine if you lower your Expectations a little. 🇩🇰 Your effort remain the same High level. Then when you reach a level of success and not taking it for granted. That makes you pretty close to happiness when it occurs.

A lot of people seem to be missing the message that it is up to the individual to spark change in their life. In any democratic society, there exists the privilege to enact change within a system. I would argue that even when your life is threatened every day by being born into a society that does not value you - even then you have the ability to control your own actions and perspective. People from every culture like to blame the system that they are in because they want to be valued but they do not want to value others. Attitude is everything.

nice...for me this points to the power of , collective agreement over values. Living values in moral isolation is heroism, and therefore not a practical social solution. Creating some sort of moral collective support group, is.

Watching this, from the UK, and picturing our nation being this content... Might have helped if we could have aired this to our MPs and citizens before and during the Brexit debacle. I feel like we've lost our purpose a little

I don't normally post irrelevant comments but I can't help myself this time. During this whole video, I kept thinking to myself "paradise would be living in Denmark with this beautiful intelligent woman" lmao

Well, I'm Danish and I don't really disagree with what she says. Similar things has been said by plenty of other people before. We do indeed seem to be very trusting compared to most other nations in the world. We don't assume people will want to do bad things. Like the whole baby in a stroller thing for example. The thought that someone might steal a child would never cross my mind. Why would they do that? I wouldn't want to steal a child so I guess I just sort of assume my fellow Danes feel the same way. However, I do think she just saw an opportunity to make some money and went for it. Apparently she left Denmark twenty years ago. She's not part of what makes Danes or Denmark trustworthy then, is she? She's not a part of that trusting nation at all and hasn't been for 20 years. And if she hasn't lived there for 20 years, why on earth should she be the one telling you how Danish people are? lol It seems to me like she's just copying what other people are saying and pretending she has some sort of special insight into it. She left as a teenager. If you should pick someone to tell the world the truth about your country, your people or your culture, would you pick a teenager? Her only experience of living in Denmark is apparently as a child and teenager. How much did *you* really know about what makes your nation work, about what makes your culture the way it is etc. when you were 18? :P

It actually needs some reengineering. Great are the chances that this happiness is somewhat forged by de novo synthesis, ir order to keep people conformed despite to what the kingdom's corporations do overseas.

As an American who has lived in Sweden for years, I am really tired of surface conversations regarding Scandinavia's "happiness" without explaining demographic or historical background. What is Denmark's immigration history? What is the variation of Denmark's population? How was Denmark plagued by poverty and illness at one point that sent people fleeing to other parts of the world? She mentioned how a woman was arrested for leaving a baby alone in New York. The state of New York is one of the most diverse states in the United States (one could say one of the most diverse places in the world) with a long history accepting immigrants from all over the world, and has much higher criminality compared to Denmark. It also has approximately three million more people than Denmark. What would be the fate of Denmark if it became as diverse as New York? It's ideal to discuss highlights of Scandinavia, but be sure to mention how it is different than many countries in regards to population, immigration, history, religion, etc.

here we got a women, telling about the way of livin in a free world/country. well, she is just telling you, how it is to live in a free country. i dont see anything unusual. it is the way of living in Denmark.

The problem is nobody is real free to do what wants. In the real life you can't choose who to be or what to do. I am not a pessimist person but realist.

Made in Italy was made by generation...and still is something unique.. We love OURSELF for what we are... We are different... We are connected with these differences because every single child is unique. And be hard working... it's our philosophy.... Love and happiness have the roots on these two.. Love....live...love
