I mean, i haven't played BFN but i gotta say GW2 is just really damn good lol, it truly stands up to today's standards, no wonder you can still find full lobbies with little effort, it is quite a gem
As a OG garden warfare 1 player and a collector of all 3 games I say Bfn is trash They change so many things look what they do to torchwood- I mean oak why the hell is rose like that and why does citron have a giant shield why does peashooter have blue eyes and looks like a alien HELP ME
The plants in garden warfare just felt more alive and fun. The shooting felt better and more satisfying. Every plant and zombie were balanced and fun to play, and most important, garden warfare had variants.
Yes until bfn came out it isn't even the same anymore they added extra health FOR NO REASON and added this bs superbrains ability that cost 300 stars which ruins everyone's fun
I preferred the old graphics because they look just overall better imo. I also think the old graphics worked better because they appealed more to both audiences (kids and adults) alike.
Personaly I like the BFN art style because the hyper-realism they were trying to go for in GW and GW2 was a bit much for me when I was younger, and first impressions make a difference.
I think its kinda sad how in BFN they made the characters and abilities more cartoonish but the surroundings better... it just doesnt fit the game world... GW2 has beautiful characters and abilities and a absolutly stunning slightly cartoonish world around that is just beautifull and there was no reason to change that :)
We can all agree gw2 was a perfect game they didnt need to change anything. Upgrading the engine expanding the backyard and adding more challenges maps and variants maybe a new class or two and then even better
@@pretendtheresaname9213 I mean, I also hope that the new classes won't never come back. I feel like that variants for Acorn, Nightcap, Snapdragon, Iceberg Lettuce(it did never come out, but its progress was good enough that I'm gonna count it) Wildflower, Space Cadet, 80s Action Hero, Electric Slide, Wizard, and TV Head could exist and work well. *But for the love of god, they shouldn't bring back the reward-o-tron.* And if they do, they should make it like the sticker packs and not just random items for random categories.
It’s like they made it both more realistic and cartoony at the same time, and while it does appeal to kids, it can most definitely appeal to adults too :)
Tbh, all of these comparisons are good and all, but the fact chomper was supposed to be a stealth character, and then make his burrow like as loud as hell, it's as if nightcap was the new chomper, but weaker
Yeah they hear me coming and since mobility has gone up and the lack of a back chomp makes getting kills actually harder at times, also I miss fire chomp or hot rod chomp
@@questerer1 hell no. You would never see a chomper as a top player in the leaderboard. Trying to survive while chewing a zombie was pretty much impossible unless you had the hot rod, which only had 125 hp. They were only op in 1v1s, and i wouldn't even say they were op because of it since that was the whole point of the plant
@@hoesmad7689 Chomper has a kill wich doesn't allow for revives. That alone should be a big warning of a character that can be overpowered... For that reason in BFN there is only 1 ability for doing that kill. In GW2 there are 2 ways of doing that.
When I saw gameplay of BFN I thought the same thing, although at that time it was like early access or something and I just assumed it was going to be polished. Don’t get me wrong some of the things in BFN look good, but I feel some of the UIs and characters are just missing the same stylization that the gw series (and even the main series) is iconic for. I’ve never played BFN but from what I’ve seen - it’s not bad. It’s just not GW even though it’s so comparable to GW. It looked like they wanted to distance themselves just for the sake of being different.
@@SSS_413 Well if you have PS Plus BFN is going free tmrw as a monthly game so I suggest try it out as i’ll probably see whether i enjoy it or not as both GW1 and 2 I loved so much and both games I have platinum and spent soo many hours on
The whole game needs work, so does GW2. But Popcap doesn't give enough of a shit so they left that game to dead, it's almost like both games have similar problems.
devs dropped the game after 6 months kinda hard to enjoy a game that they clearly didnt care about. bfn was a last minute cash grab for a dying series. fucking tragic cuz i loved the games so much but bfn was such a massive letdown. maybe if corona didnt happen we woulda seen more dev livestreams. shame they went radiosilent when they went into quarantine : ^)
Bfn is not too bad, honestly it would have been better if they'd put variants and perks and create even more personalization I don't think the game is bad, I think that it is weaker than its predecessors
yeah, it feels like an oddball frankenstein of all the previous Garden Warfare games, but everything is lesser. Garden and Graveyard Ops are back, but you can't queue for a specific map or team, you can't select your difficulty unless you're in a private match, and they are only 5 waves instead of 10. I feel I have more control over the tide of battle thanks to the enhanced movement and 8 player lobbies, but it results in games feeling less chaotic with longer moments of downtime. Character variants aren't in this one, but there are different weapon types that you can give to characters, but they don't change how the characters or their weapons appear so enemy and weapon readability is out the window (Not to mention that only a small fraction of the roster actually have unlock-able weapon types, which is reeks of "god they really didnt have much development time at all did they"). I personally really like this game, I feel I have more control of how the game progresses and plays, but golly it's lesser in almost every way. i wish the folks at Popcap had more time to work on it because it came and went like a breeze :((
In GW 2 it felt like you are free to choose what ever class you want. In BFN it felt like it forces you to play a certain class to balance out an already imbalanced class system.
Why EA... just why. In my opinion GW 2 is still superior in almost every aspect aside from a couple changes that could’ve just been a big update for GW 2 or the release of GW 3. Someone please tell me otherwise. *like brah citron* 🤧
@TIM ok WTH the first guy who commented told me it was because of popcap, and now you are saying it’s because of EA... so who is to blame here? Should I just blame them both?
I like the more cartoony style of Bfn, tho i would like for classes too be added, those are my favourite thing about Gw2, and i think since bfn was the first one that i knew and played i kinda got attached more.(also idk why but Gw2 cactus creeps me out a bit)
I feel like all the plants and zombies are so much more appealing in the garden warfare games, bfn has some good mechanics, but it doesn't surpass the old games. Though, I do really like the team work bfn tries to encourage (like space cadets being able to attach to one another, wizards being able to attach to other zombies, acorns being able to stack together) those examples would of been so fun in the garden warfare games
They could have fleshed out the graphics and details in bfn but they went for a simple style and I can’t really blame them it looks nice and simple in bfn.
For those of you complaining about graphics, they probably made graphics more "cartoony" to make them animate more smoothly, before the models were a little too realistic and "stiff" to make them stretch and bend like they do in bfn, and Thats the best part about bfn, it feels new, garden warfare 1 and 2 used basically the same animations models and gw2 only added new characters, hardly a difference between gw1 and 2 models with everyone having the exact same abilities too. But bfn is from the ground up, no character is exactly the same, the closest we got is soldier having the same abilities, but every other character got somthing new. new animations, models, and abilities, and besides, if you dislike a game for the graphics you probably shouldn't criticize games, not every game has to be realistic, you're gonna sit here and complain about graphics on a game thats litteraly about sentient plants fighting ZOMBIES. Games are not all about graphics
Yeah also bfn actually has other maps to explore and GW2 just had the main map and GW1 didn’t even have a map I don’t think I think it just had all the normal options
The problem with BfN's graphics wasn't that it was cartoony. It was that it lacked charm. It tried too hard to fit into the regular PvZ game's art styles and as a result didn't feel unique, whereas Garden Warfare 1 and 2 did something different with their graphics and made their own style
What really grinds my gears is they took out the variants and wasted all the time, effort, and resources to make the snap dragon which in my opinion is a fire variant chomper
you know BFN would be good if they slowly added variants like little updates 1 variant every 2 weeks would be amazing. If only they slowly made the game better by adding in things that had good reactions and removing the things people didn't like the game would be genuinely AMAZING but its EA they only care about money not about happiness 😢
*What did they do to my girl...* Unlike most people, I'm okay with Rose's redesign in BfN, though admittedly the original design is better, with the bigger head, eyes being closer to each other, the sparkly purple cloak, etc.
@@handsomeoz9248 Indeed. She got some solid skins and cosmetics. People often use her as the butt of BFN's "bad redesigns" jokes, but as I said, I'm alright with it. I said the top line as a sorta joke
Gw2 definitely had better maps and gameplay but i loved bfn art style like it is how PvZ supposed to be like, they are supposed to be a funny chaotic cartoonish shooter like they aren’t supposed to be realistic. Though this has exception to gw1 which had a better realistic art style than gw2. The biggest reason i think why bfn has less player was that they dumped the character system where there are no more fire type or ice type of that specific character which sucks a lot and if they manages to merge the old characters in with the bfn art style then yes bfn would be better than its current state
Eh, that's questionable, imo the worst thing about bfn is how the hitboxes aren't as accurate as GW if you're shooting enemies from afar, chances are you'll barely hit, which takes a toll on the gameplay and makes it more boring
@guesst 326 I do too. The old art style looked too realistic (it’s supposed to be based of the first PvZ game’s artstyle). I real like how the characters look in bfn besides rose, super brainz and the scientist’s goggles
how two play chomper in bfn 1. bait your opponent some where far away or hide in a corner but make sure the opponent is alone 2.goop 3.burrow 4. run away 5. Repeat
I can't be the only one who thinks all star especially feels way weaker His bullet spread and clunkier movements take away the fun from using him in the original Not to mention the tackle ability is pathetic compared it it's original counterpart
Honestly nothing makes sense in this, the plants are big as hell, chomper literally digests anything and mostly everything and is taller than you that’s just the start, personally I’ve never seen the “realistic” aspect but gw2 was better cause everyone was fair and OP at once and you can play however you see fit and do good, now you actually have to worry about your build rather than I wanna be a fire cactus than a alien sunflower.
Considero que los mapas del PvZ BFN son mucho más bonitos que el de PvZ GW 2, pero me gustan mucho más los diseños de personaje del PvZ GW 2 que el de PvZ BFN
You can really tell who abused Citron and all of the fire and ice variant characters just by reading the comments. That's why they did away with variants and certain abilities. They made it more balanced so you tool bags couldn't abuse specific characters. Even now, literally everyone uses Chomper, Snapdragon, Nightcap, Foot soldier, and Space Cadet all the time. I'll continue to say it. You can tell which characters are broken because people will abuse them the most.
Plants VS Zombies Battle for Neighborville is garbage. I would know because I have it. The combat system is based on who can hit the most shots while bunny hopping around and spamming abilities that the players need to abuse not to be terrible. There was NO reason to remove variants, they could’ve just introduced new variants while rebalancing the old ones. But instead, they had to remove every subclass and introduce a pathetic upgrade system and a sprint system which removes the purpose of Hyper, Engi’s jackhammer, etc. To replace them with shit like hover, which makes peashooter float midair HOWEVER peashooter has HORRIBLE air speed while hovering and is a sitting duck.
To be honest I don’t understand why people hate on bfn so much. The Artstyle migt be different than the one from the Garden Warfare games but I think it doesn’t look bad at all. I like how most characters are balanced unlike in GW2 and the perks may be not that great but I think it is a concept just as okay as variants, who provoked pay2win and made Garden Warfare 2 extremely unbalanced. I also prefer the new maps over the Garden Warfare ones because no longer are they only takeover after takeover, but also have payload tasks. The singleplayer in my opinion is far better aswell. Only having 3 different maps may not be alot but they all provide a cool story, a big layout and are overall fun and rewarding. Garden Warfare 2 only had the backyard which was great aswell but I felt like it didn’t provide this much after all.
Depends how you see it. Gw 2 was going for a more realistic look and bfn looks like plastic. The models in gw2 look more detailed. Bfn is still good graphically but not as good as gw2.
@Dev King well some people say Minecraft has bad graphics because of a lot of cubes but it’s the bestselling game which was Tetris for the longest time
