So happy that you were allowed to go into the lithops house. What a great collection and oh the pretty colored flowers. Thanks for another great video.
Some of those pots are so nice it’s hard to believe that they’re included with the plant at those prices. I’ve gotta wonder if someone died and a lot of that was their private collection. I would rather my beloved stuff be sold rather than given away so that it goes to someone that cares about it. Otherwise this place simply is set up to feel like you’re shopping someone else’s collection
It certainly offers a different shopping experience from other nurseries, which I personally really enjoy. It's interesting that you got that vibe. I got to chat with the owner, Gene, for a little bit and mentioned that I haven't seen so many stages plants for sale before. He said that they had just moved a bunch of cold sensitive plants into their winter house, so he ended up staging a bunch of more cold hardy plants to fill up the space left behind. Now to the vibe that you picked up. There's a really nice interview on RU-vid done by a local news station where Gene and Jane talk about how they are entering retirement age and the difficulties in transitioning (and whether they want to transition) into life after running a nursery for so many decades. They used to have an online shop which they don't run anymore, and their nursery hours are much more limited than before. So you can kind of see the direction the business is going. Not saying that they'll be going away any time soon but perhaps some of their own precious plants show up on the sale table sometimes.
When ever I am looking for something to watch and that peaks my interest as soon as I see someone’s hand I find that very distracting so I lose interest and move on and will not subscribe to that channel.
Oh darn, then my videos definitely won't work for you. My hand(s) shows up in nearly every single video. Out of pure curiosity, can you share your intention for leaving me this comment? Is it just to let me know? Or are you hoping that I'll change my video style?
Pronunciation for kalanchoe is …kă- luhn-kō-ēē…I looked it up 😉. I think it is a regional thing, depending where you live the pronunciation can be different. Love these videos…I am just starting my cactus journey…and loving it! I planted some seeds and oh my goodness, they are germinating! This is some seriously fun stuff!
Hehehehehehe, I also heard it's a regional thing! Welcome to the cactus obsession, the forever bottomless rabbit hole of amazingness 😁🙏💚 and that's so cool that you're growing from seed! It's the best!
Love this video, thank you! I’ll be visiting Plants for the Southwest on my trip to Arizona in late feb.. and I can’t wait!! I just love that they sell mature specimens potted and staged.. ugh, I’ll be broke after visiting this one!
Ohh ohh I'm so excited that you'll get to see the nursery yourself in the near future! You're going to have a blast! If I lived in Tucson I would be in huuuuge trouble...
not right now. sometimes i go to Tucson for the gem shows because i like to cut stones. maybe i can figure out how to feed the cut up stone to some cacti after i read the Stone Eaters pdf. 🪨🌵
Nurseries have beautiful stuff, but over priced.. they have a lot of overhead to pay for. I try to stay away from nurseries. I purchase many of my plants from big box stores that have nurseries.
Big boxes are great. I've bought many plants from big boxes. But the nurseries do have selection that the big boxes don't carry, so it's nice to have options.
@@cookiescacti Also Germany. We've got your usual gardencenters here and flower shops, but only a handful of specialty nurseries that truly still can't compare with yours over there. Living vicariously through your tour videos, gotta say 😄
It's coming! I'm planning to pull all the plants and pots I purchased since the fall sale at the garden and recording one massive haul. Stay tuned! Lots of plant love from Arizona!
Thank you for sharing! I went there once with my fam. I am from the Chicago area. If I would have gone by myself I would have maxed out the credit cards...😉
You have to go again! I'm already wanting to go back... but I really shouldn't be buying more plants and I know that "cactus window shopping" are three words that never go together...
Hello Lori! I hope you're staying warm in SW Virginia! Omg I could never take the cold... hats off to you for real! I'm so glad you enjoyed the virtual sun in this one!
Another nice tour video. Really makes me want to get down there. Every time I'm in Tucson they are closed, after watching your video I will make the effort to plan my trip better. As always, your videos are a joy to watch! Keep up the good work...
I've never seen anything like those employees-only areas-so cool! Thanks for sharing the video. You're really lucky to have seen them in person. Super jealous!
Great video, tour, and lay of the land! You could easily spend the the whole day, maybe several! While we didnt get as many close ups, your video really was a great macro view of the nursery and gave me a better sense of all that they have. BTW, growing well is often a function of time and practice, so study, start small, and thrive, because if they can, you can! Thanks for taking us on your tours, and pray tell what you ended up buying!😅❤🌵☀️🌺
I'm so glad you enjoyed this one, James! I still struggle with slowing down during these recording sessions... I get too excited lol. I'll be working on recording my plant haul video this week... most likely publish in a week or two. Stay tuned!
@@cookiescacti I can appreciate it because you have two opposite objectives, first to do a cool video, and second, to find cool plants for your collection, so you are kinda doing twice as much work. AND, Plants for the Southwest has so many cool plants and pots, many are also my favorites. You are doing well with your videos and thank you for taking us along for the ride.
I never left AZ (because I can never move away from AZ now LOL). In fact, I can never leave this house either... The more plants I put in the ground or grow, the more rooted I am!
If there is such thing as “sympathy crying”, then I’m a “sympathy excitement”😅 your excitement and joy seeing everyone at the Lithops house and the other house makes me smile and happy and excited too 😅
Ha!! I love this so much. I feel the same way when I watch other people's videos - it's nice knowing I'm not the only one! I'm so glad you enjoyed this one!
Jenny thank you for sharing your trip Southwest nursery what a treat to see wonderful plants I do love the spectacular plants growing outside i look forward to your videos
You're so very welcome, William! I'm so glad you enjoyed this trip. I want to go back but that drive doesn't allow me to go all the time (which is probably a good thing 😁).
@@dai12nao thanks for the feedback. I've been working a lot on pacing (you should see my older videos where I move a lot faster). I'm not sure I can move any slower. RU-vid has a setting on playback speed, perhaps you can set it to 0.75x?
Whoa, the staged plants were especially nice, absolutely gorgeous! And so many of them, too? Incredible! Also, as a haworthia lover, some of their long grown haworthia that you skimmed over had my heart jump for joy. Prettyyyy!!!
Those staged plants make me feel like we're walking through someone's private collection except that everything is for sale! I wish I had focused on the Haworthia more! I'm so glad you enjoyed this one!
@@cookiescacti Yeah, I can see how it would feel like that. A bit like a collector's fancy plant yardsale. I think one could visit that place a thousand times and still find something new to look at every single time. Truly amazing.
