I installed Scribblenauts Unlimited just to test this, and im pretty sure the Lawnmower killing Zombies is a reference because it does nothing at all to friendly People (just spawned a person), animals OR enemy aggressive monsters. I tried "Ghoul" and "Monster" and the lawnmower did nothing to them while instantly killing the zombie making it fall apart into little pieces like in the PvZ so i think its pretty safe to say that it is a reference. Unless zombies getting lawnmowered is a common thing in Media.
