Yea like when I truly think about it my favorite video game out of the games I’ve most played the most fun the most friends I made on pvz is definitely on the top on everything
I imagine the designing process for imp went a little like this: "So he's going to be small and annoying, maybe we can even implement the gargan-" _"titanfall"_ "What?" _"what if we just did titanfall but... again"_
@@marshallarnold4827 Not really, the Z-Mechs are kinda what made the imps in GW2, especially the Variation on them per, well, variant. Drake Mech, Z-Mech, S.H.R.Imp Mech, Scallywag Mech. You couldn't do the same with gargs without them feeling all the same. Its why I prefer the mechs for the imps, keep the Gargantuars as bosses.
The only characters they really “sold” were torchwood and hovergoat. But even those you could grind for, and the card packs were just right for the amount of grinding it took to get them
Not gonna lie. This is really well edited and fun to watch. I feel bad for small channels like this who just don't get enough recognition. Keep going man
after my over 1400 hours and over 2/3 years playing this game made me think that GW2 did a huge improvement from GW1, it fixed a lot of problems that GW1 had, GW2 also buffed many variants from gw1 (chomp thing was really bad in GW1). i love GW2, the atmophere, the chaotic (in a good way) gameplay, more classes (and variants) to play, the problems i have GW2 that the game didnt get as much attention as it should, also this game feels rushed if you look at a lot of unused content it had (bosses, music, abilities, pottable plants etc.) if this game had these unused content, then this game would be more big than it is now, and sadly this game is not longer updated cause BFN, also i like your review, weird to see a review of 4 year old game in 2020, but its still nice that people still remembers and loves this game
To sum up gw2 updates in 2019: -Rux moved to backyard -Taco Bandits town hall w/new backyard map added that specific rotation -Wallnut hills remastered and added into Twilight chomper community challenge -New torchwood and hovergoat skins
Use super brainz? He can skip entire sections with his abilities so on the later ones you can just kick through the air. My problem is the grill one that insttakills you if you get hit
I admittedly bought torchwood and hover-goat back when I was somewhat still new to the game. Then again I also bought the pack that contained Commando corn and scallywag imp thinking it was the game itself so...
And after aaaaaall the work me and my brothers in just for someone to cheap it up with a couple bucks. Took me a lot of colorful stars and a lot of annoying gnomes, but it was a helluva journey. There journey consisted of asking there dad for their monthly 20 bucks
god that game was a blast, so nostalgic, this video was amazing and made me want to replay it, right now im loading up gw2 on my ps4, I really can't express how much I love that game, thank you for truly reminding me of how good it was
@@yelpeter ok, I don’t know how you become friends with a person that you haven’t seen or even met. If I play with a person a lot then I guess they’re my friend.
Sad they ditched this game for bfn I know they can’t support it forever but they didn’t have a problem adding things after people considers the game dead and I wouldn’t have a problem with it if they released a gw3 but no they made bfn
@@Thepre-fixfordeath I could have understood decreasing the amount of variants because of the new classes, but like why not include like at least 2 per class
I still remember every single detail of the Trials of Gnomes Update. How mysterious everything was, the frustration of not getting a Key out of the chest, the struggle with the memory Trial and the ultimate satisfaction when I finally unlocked Torchwood. It was just a all around awesome time for me.
Oh man, this video really brought me back! I forgot how hyped I was for GW2 and how much I followed the game from its initial announcement to the final update. Thank you for making me remember how good of a game GW2 was and still is :D
I loved doing the gnome Easter eggs and unlocking everything in the backyard. I even bot the deluxe version and pirate imp pack, this game truly was my favourite.
this was my favorate shooter game ever in my life. my first shooter game was gw1 and loved it so I nearly screamed when I heard of this. to this day I have 3100 hours in gw2
@@matty_daddy If you are going to play on PC and want multiplayer there are not many servers, but on console you can find lobbies (I think, I suggest looking it up)
It also had festivus, lawn of doom, summer nights, fall party, summer nights part two and three, Easter dlc, winter party and some others. So a lot of other dlc
To think that GW2 was just so kicked under the bus by EA once BFN was around the corner grows my hatred from them even more. You could tell PopCap put their hearts into GW2, it keeps a certain charm that felt unique and kept the player coming back for more. This love was something that EA rushed and eventually killed, as for the case of BFN. Man, to think if PopCap was published under a better studio, who knows where the franchise could've been. But great vid, it just goes to show how much effort was put in until eventually EA crumbled the damn game.
@@cheddarsunchipsyes8144 I am pretty sure popcap worked on the gama and ea only publishes the games or was that only for the tower defense game like pvz and pvz 2
B*tch stfu people act like ea makes the game literally all they do is fund popcap BFN was a bomb (which is 100% pop cap's fault and people who say different are just stupid)so ea doesn’t want to make gw3 which is imo justified plus most of the devs of gw2 left do to bfn’s failure so even if ea wanted to make a new shooter it wouldn’t work
i was so mad when i realized you only had 3k subs, really really thought you'd have a lot considering the beautiful edit and the amazing review! thanks for this wonderful piece of art but the fact that pvz went so downhill and how underrated and p2w pvzgw2 is makes me sad ;-;
Replay ability is the determining factor in how long I enjoy and play a game. the sticker pack , legendary characters, trials of gnomus, and the leveling up variant system in this is exactly why I still play the game to this day. It’s engineered so well that every variant of a character I play feels like an entirely new character with it’s own strengths, weaknesses, and play styles. The trials of gnomus was a really fun experience and goal to get to, and it really made me feel proud of the hard work I had to done to get to that point with special characters that were exclusive (back then) to the ones who put in the work. The game was really steered towards progression through time and effort, and always got me back on it to get new characters, master the ones I had, and dream of the legendary scallywag that I have never gotten before. It really stood the testament of time for me, even if the game hasn’t been updated for the better part of two years. You just summed up all my thoughts about the game really well, and it’s great to know someone as awesome as you Vile enjoys this game as much as I do!
It’s sad that they replaced the MASTERPIECE of garden warfare for the immediately abandoned “i’d play this for a month and then drop it” battle for neighborville. And yes, battle for neighborville is super fun and you should try it. But it gets stale soo fast and it makes me super sad.
@@NotUndulateCrown58 lies. That game that you pick up and either drop or become that guy who everyone hates would never replace such a timeless classic
I played the game when you could buy it a month before release for a cheaper price, I played it for the month and never touched it again. After playing the campaign and unlocking everything, i got burnt out.
Dude the whole Gnome dimension thing is probably the coolest update a game has ever had for me, the aura of mystery it had when it first came out was amazing to experience
Remember when you could check the mailbox to see the monthly schedule for town hall gamemodes? When you could actually play the community boss hunt without using mods? Good times.
With over 2800 hours in GW2, it may well be my favorite game of all time, and as I grew up with arcade games like Missile Command, Pac-Man, and Donkey Kong, as well as the Atari 2600 console being THE console to get, that's a lot of video games in my time! Taking what made GW so good and making it even better (with a few stumbles like Toxic Brainz, the Detonation characters, and being able to buy stuff we all unlocked), GW2 is indeed brilliant fun and improves upon GW1 in many ways. It also makes BfN feel even worse in comparison. We really need a GW3 that returns the GW and GW2 maps, characters/variants, and game modes (with any needed adjustments), has more single player stuff to do, keeps and expands the awesome Backyard Battleground (Giddy Park just never compared, it's worse in almost every way), and gives us new stuff to do and to explore and they'd have a winner. Also, they need to promote it more; BfN had so little promotion that it was almost as if they were ashamed of it.
I wish instead of just selling touchwood and hover goat they sold access to all four gnome keys, meaning you could pay to skip the wait to the trials but still have to earn the characters
This is literally one of my favorite games of all times. It was such a step up from PvZ gw. I do, however, liked the maps better in gw 1, but this game was still amazing. Trials of gnomus was fun and finding all the gnomes was great. Also the mastering feature was so cool imo.
GW2 has probably been my favorite game since the open beta… so much to do and so much I still haven’t done, I’m still looking for that last snow globe for the seagull 😂😂😂
God, I love this game. I’ve sunk hundreds of hours into both games, and I’m still completing the second (I unlocked everything in the first). Absolutely recommend this game. Side note: Single player is my preferred mode for playing this game, it’s more balanced than multiplayer and the AI is decent
I'm sure all of us that liked this game were the only ones around us that like the game. Sure the artstyle is wacky and it's plants vs zombies but at the time it was SO unique and fun. Sadly I'm sure all of us failed at trying to get people into the game. I spent so much time into this game and hope for the day I see another game like this again. 💙
MAN this was a trip down memory lane. I remember watching the clock during lunch in 4th grade with my buddies and counting down to noon. I got the game that afternoon and it has held such a great place in my heart. I got the platinum only a year and a half ago, finishing some challenges that were just grindy (like the EMPeach mech one and maxing out a character) but still feeling the nostalgia. The fact that I'm going to be a senior in High School in a few days, and that this game is gonna turn 8 years old in half a year is bewildering to me. Thanks for making this haha. Also I only played Battle for Neighborville Once before the servers shut down, that was such a waste of money unfortunately 😭
I remember having to painfully go through the trials of gnomus (especially the trial of recollection). It did annoy quite a bit when torchwood and hover goat where put up for sale
My only real issues with GardenWarfare 2 is the lack of other alt abilitys, cosmetics, and gardenops Firstly the lack of any good alt abilitys really holds the game back, alot of the time theyre either direct upgrades or to useless or hardly change how you use the ability, especially common for the bling variants of abilitys Cosmetics, most of the cosmetics in gw2 id consider the worst in the series, as the major of wearables are literal trash pieces turned into clothing, which i can understand for the zombies a small bit, but with such a lack of normal cosmetics, its hard to actually make any good looks without it looking like a dumpster fire. Also gold and silver reskins... God i fucking hate them Lastly garden ops, you may not notice it, but a huge issue with garden ops in gw2 is the lack of a predictable attack pattern for the ai, unlike gw1, the ai zombies (and plants now in this case now) don't have real attack patterns, they mostly just run and shoot and then occasionally use an ability, in gw1 however, each zombie class and bosses had there own attack pattern to recognise and respond to accordingly, footsoldiers always stick to roofs, scientists will teleporter over to you from a sertan distanc, taunting to give you a short frame time to react, etc, but in gw2 you dont have this kinda doom enemy fight, making it less enjoyable
I definitely agree with the first two points. Though I think the other big issue was the rather poor character balancing. Some characters, like Armor Chomper, were absolutely gutted. While other characters like Captain Cannon and Z7 Imp are way too oppressive. Oh yeah, and class design for the new characters wasn't great. Way too many stuns and get-out-of-jail-free cards.
@@limepie3801 i hope in the mext gw3 the variants could be inspired by diffrent species of plants like a small version of the peashooter being a mung pea
They should do what they did in Fortnite so after every jump your jump gets smaller. This will help prevent Pogo peas from ruining the experience for everyone else.
@@Sleepy_Cabbage one way to balance out hyper is that you can't shoot while you jump This would fix two things a. Pogo peas wont be annoying anymore and b. Hype would work as intended ( getting to higher vantage points)
So glad that this game released on steam recently so more people can finally experience this legendary game. And maybe. Just maybe. They’ll go back on their word again and add more content.
Its just mesmerizing just how much there is to this game. And I only have two characters on specialist! I just now got peashooter to advanced. And about all the other characters to specialist. Still I have a long way to go... I've gotten foot soldier to master, and peashooters to super elite. Still not done though. I have stopped playing this game for months. I moved on to other games, but i bought the torch and tail pack but didint unlock torchwood or hover goat until i finished the trials of gnomus, which was very hard.
I think this was the only FPS I ever played as a kid and purely because I just loved PvZ, I was pretty much shit at the game but it made those summer days when I was home alone a true treat.
I got the deluxe edition so I got a 25 digit code, which gave me the z7 imp, two new abilities, a bunch of cosmetics, and 200k coins. The embarrassing thing is I got the game when it first came out nearly 6 years ago and I just used the code and got the stuff yesterday.
@@ps4pro668 Yeah I'm like rank plate 22 and I was getting bored. Like I haven't played in a while but that's just cause I don't play on my Xbox one as often. That being said I had all characters at least advanced. I eventually just gave up and now I just want to main yeti chomper if I start playing a bunch again.
The imp is like the unholy zombified child of Tracer and Scout that was raised by robotic engineers Edit: I bought my copy of Garden Warfare 2 a few weeks back!!
Forgive my ignorance but did Battle for Neighborville remove variants? That was one of my favorite features from GW1. Plus it feels so much harder to get cosmetics.
Really the only thing missing from this game in my opinion was the maps from the first game. It would have been awesome too see Zombified maps from the first game evidenced to exist from an old trailer. They could’ve tweaked them a bit to fit the new characters.
I love this game so much and i still play it. I was so hyped for it i pre ordered the deluxe edition. After a couple years i stopped play gw2 because i pretty much beat the game. Another like 3-4 years go by and pvz gw2 is on sale of 5$. I had lost my account wich had pvz gw2 and i was really happy about the sale going on so i bought it. When i logged on to a fresh account i was flushed with nostalgia. I check the mail mailbox and i see all those bundles and i was a little mad but not surprised as its EA. I actually bought them except for the iron citron and party characters. I still love this game its amazing
My lil brother bought torchwood and hovergoat where as I got it legit I would always join his multiplayer and continuously kill him he doesn’t play anymore. $10 wasted
I remember I just got done finishing infinity time and I went to the bathroom and came back and saw that I unlocked Party imp.Highest moment of my life
I don't know why.... but I always found it relaxing whenever you log into the game or you finish a match, and your inventory is just full of packs you can open..... I always liked that type of mechanic
My main problem with garden warfare 2 is that it doesn't feel like a plants vs zombies game. Garden warfare 1 literally felt like what it was meant to be. A shooter version of the 2009 pc game plants vs zombies. Garden warfare 2 felt like a completely different series. Not that it's a bad game, but I just feel like it strayed away from its roots (no pun intended).
I agree, I played the crap out of these game, especially one. It was the first shooter my parents let me buy, except playing halo 2 at my grandparents house. Never touched a COD game until I was 16, and by that time I’d really been exploring a lot of other titles, and COD just felt bland in comparison.
I remember buying a game magazine back when those were a thing, and seeing PVZGW2 alongside Guacamelee 2. Bought it on day one and loved it. It is by far my most favourite game, everything about it is incredible.
my favorite part about Garden Warfare is it's deep commitment to the wack, so many modern shooters wanna be the next esport and so many more tries to strike a balance between competitive seriousness, and casual fun and many of them fail, Gardenwarfare shits on the very concept of competitive games and goes full throttle on having a casual fun game and for that I salute it, Battle For Neighborville is a nice game but, i think the biggest problem it had from the start, is that it tried to take itself too seriously, this is a game where Plants fight Zombies and the secret villains behind everything are the celestial gnome gods. I've seen plenty of competitive shooters and plenty more that have mix of both casual and serious, to mixed results but this is the first, (that i've seen at least) that goes 100% full casual in everything it does, and i love it also I kinda also hate that they sell the ledgendaries just like that I've found temptation beckoning me to buy, but i've declined and (not so subtle brag incoming) managed to get 4 of the party characters legit, while also beating all the trials, finished them just this month in fact, proud owner of goat and torchwood, and whenever i incinerate an innocent zombie, i think to myself "i earned that"
Despite how much better the game did compared to the predecessor, there were still things it did inferiorly to GW1, like having only two taunt slots instead of four and a lack of taunts to unlock in general, barring the GW1 taunts they brought back (which even then they didn't bring back all of them).
GW1 there was no free play hub, they FORCED you to play online and i immediately skipped it because of that, i liked gw2 because i wasn't forced to play with other players, and only 2 taunts what tragedy
@@Leostar-Regalius The “hub” in GW2 is something I would consider a flaw. It’s so small and empty that I might as well just have a quicker, more convenient method of entering multiplayer in the form of a menu that was present in GW1.
I remember being the biggest fan girl of the first game. And I only heard rumours of it coming out. Then I went on this big trip all over Europe with some family and opening RU-vid to see the trailer for it and OH MY DARWIN. I was so fuckin excited and I'm not ashamed to say that I memorized the entire trailer AND the trailer for the multiplayer beta. Man......these were seriously awesome times.....
I remember when they made it so we could buy the torch wood and hover goat me and my brother were so exited so we could play as them without doing the trials. Now I’m sad that we did that. I wish this game came out when I knew how to enjoy games like how I do now
