Plasma Flame Generator with the GU-50 Tube (HFVTTC)

Hello, I would like to show my GU-50 Plasma Flame Generator (also known as HFVTTC). Despite the GU-50 having a smaller anode than a lot of power tubes like the PL509/ PL519, it can dissipate more power than those tubes due to its anode coating. And it can also handle higher currents due to a thicker Cathode bonding wire, but still, a fuse is a must-have in case the oscillation were to stop.
This Plasma Flame Generator works with doubled 230Vac Mains Voltage using a Full doubler circuit, but it performs best with higher voltages like 700Vdc.
On 700Vdc input, I get around 3 cm of flame discharge vs. a bit over 2 cm on 650Vdc.
The Flame must be manually ignited, and it only starts giving off a permanent flame around 500 volts B+.
The Frequency is around 25 MHz. Keep this away from sensitive equipment because it can break things that aren't shielded properly!

Very cool, you definitely need to use a ceramic insulator on top to prevent fire! The nice thing about ceramic is it is also heat resistant. Very cool to see these tube types, its simple , nostalgic yet quite capable at the same time. Good job

@@newmonengineering Thank you very much for your comment. Yes Ceramic would be a great fit if I had such a ceramic pipe at the time. Afterwards i moved the wite further away from the cardboard tube and it fixed it, the cardboard doesnt ignite anymore. Yes tubes are very cool, especially the glow they give off and It makes your project look more dangerous because you have to use very high voltages :)
