John Powson of Ryedale Plasterers Limited talks us through the process of casting a reverse cast, fibrous plaster, cornice mould in the Ryedale Workshops, North Yorkshire, UK
I owned a fibrous plastering company for many years, and with the exception of not brushing and splashing on the first coat with a brush and no support wads or laths along its length this is exactly the method we used, though we preferred to fit with it still a bit green as it has more give on unlevel ceilings, even your plaster hopper in the background is identical, I did wonder if you mix lime or a retarder into your plaster as I don't remember working so casually, maybe our water is dirtier down south. we used to make mix our own shellac with flakes and meths i my memory serves, great to watch, love your website, wish I was still doing it. excellent work and thanks for sharing.
