Plate Hangers For Decorative Plates (Another Quick Tip)

Yeah those heat shrinking wire covers would work too But if you don't have them I'd use the glue!!

Another tip is to wrap a light piece of wire around the nail from which your plate is hung and around the plate holder. This prevents the plates from dancing off the nail in the event of a tremor or major earthquake. We've seen a few of those around the world lately and I dont think any place is immune. I adore birds too Bev. ♥

Bev, you can dip the hooks in liquid rubber. Widely available,cheap and easy.

try clear nail polish...a few coats

I used small strips of clear band aides so there is a rubber grip. :)

THE AUTO REPAIR STORES HAVE SOME SHRINK WRAP FOR WIRING TO KEEP THE WEATHER OFF THE REPAIRED WIRE ON A CAR AND THAT WORKS TOO BLESSINGS & BE HOPE FILLED

Please, Bev, never use that type of hanger on anything with any value. Even if you have stopped the edge from chipping, the springs will eventually crackle the glaze.

Great idea. You could also use short strips of the aquarium or medical type clear tubing. Your idea is way cheaper unless you just happen to have tubing sitting around. It would be similar to using the rubbery type backs on the wire type earrings. I love all your ideas and tips. I especially love your lessons in canning foods. Great job. try heat shrink tubing, less mess

Most Glues dry hard resulting in brittle and none protective. Clear Silicon dries with rubber like consistency. I’ve resolved, protected and completed endless projects with Clear Silicon.

I use Flatiron discs from amazon. com they are extra strong and do not require metal around the edge of gold rimmed plates .. Hobby Lobby and Amazon.. better and stronger than what you are using

hey bevy I. watch you and Wolfe everyday. I sent you an email a few months ago about soap. Did you ever get my email?

Coffee straws and a lighter will work beautifully and the straws are freeeeeeeeeeee! Just slip the straw on the hook and clip it off to size then lightly run a lighter flame over it to shrink it to the wire. No muss no fuss.

Great tip on saving from chipping! An FYI I had many plates hanging with those in my kitchen for years and one day I heard a loud crash, (the same type of hangers) one had failed/gave way and my plate was smashed to pieces on the floor.

Aquarium clear tubing would work.

I use the tubing you get for your fish tank air hoses.

Hey, Mrs. V. Just be careful with that kind of plate hanger as over time it can cause stress fractures (cracks) in your plates due to the tension of the springs. Since you have the certificates of authenticity for them, another options might be proper plate frames or possibly plate rails top and bottom with little stoppers on either side of the plate to keep them from rolling side to side. Just a thought as you would want to protect your investment. Thanks for sharing all you do and much love to the Volfpack.
