I was 14 yo when the Beatles played at Ed Sullivan show. My twin sister, everyone at school screamed and sang their songs all the time! They “saved” America. JFK had been assassinated Nov 22, 1963. We were in deep mourning and impossible grief. LBJ sent hundreds of thousands of our neighbors to Vietnam. All seemed lost. THEN the Beatles arrived in February 1964. The absolute joy they brought revived our country! They led us out of a dark pit into Good day sunshine!

One time when I was an Uber driver, I drove some friends from Colorado who had flown into LA for the Paul McCartney concert at Dodgers Stadium. We chatted and got along well and as I pulled into the Stadium’s parking lot, they told me that 1 of their friends couldn’t make it and asked if I wanted her ticket. I’ve had a permanent smile on my face ever since.
