I purchased the Prefounte in several colors (yes, I’m in treatment 😏) when it came available. I have silicone grease and I have O rings. Now that I’ve watched Brian eye-dropper convert this pen in 30 seconds while being incredibly distracted, I’m actually going to try it. Thanks, guys! A delight, as always.

Also, I can speak for the slip n' seal cap. I have a Preppy that I bought over a year ago now, that I keep IN THE CAR, and it still writes immediately every time I use it still with it's original cartridge.

Unrelated to the video but today is my birthday! For my birthday I bought a Goulet EF nib for my Edison N premier, Noodler’s Black, and 2 Clairefontaine Spiral Notebooks for class! Thanks for loading great content and being there so I can feel good about my writing experience.

I already bought one, and I actually prefer it to the Plaisir, because I found the aluminum dented too easily. Great penablement purchase for friends and family.

I bought two of these pens. Very nice! I mostly buy fairly inexpensive pens, and I find that they are very reliable.

You guys crack me up! Along with all the GOOD information on pens too, thank you! LOVE your Corgi shirt Drew! I've got to get a Westie one someday LOL! Unfortunately I already have about 5 Preppy pens. I'm being drawn to "the DARK side" (more expensive) of the pen world!

I have 3 of the Prefountes, all fine points. I love them and use them as eye dropper pens. You can't beat the price, and I agree, they look way better than a Preppy.

Love the Prefounte. Bought the crimson red one back in December. Use it almost daily, it never fails. The slip and seal cap is great. Bought 3 more yesterday, graphite blue, emerald and night sea. I bought converters for all. I think it’s worth the extra expense because the pen is so good.

An informative and fun video. I am so glad you explained that the workings are the same as the Preppy as I'd read some reviews that made me hesitate to buy one of these. I'm also thrilled that I can swap the extra fine nib. Hurray! Will that also work for the Crystal?

Platinum have really hit the right spot with all of the colours on this pen, they look great. To answer your question, a gem and a jewel are not the same. Basically a gem is specific to particular grades of particular stones whereas a jewel can be made anything including diamond, glass and plastic alike. Despite common thinking neither gems or jewels are necessarily cut however more often than not they are.

The Prefounte online appeared (to me) that the grip section was a tiny bit larger in diameter than the Preppy. (Which is what I was looking for.) Thanks for clearing that up!

Although I love this episode, I have to say I don't understand the reason behind even having a pen like Prefounte and even Plaisir since they share the nib with a $5 pen. I have the Preppy and I wouldn't upgrade it to either of the two. But that's just a personal opinion! Happy writing!

Maybe it has to do with saved costs from packaging. Since the barcode being on the barrel means you don't need individual packages. Some people might not like the barcode.

I love the nib (m)! But I’ve noticed that some ink seeps in near the area between the section and the nib, I can clean it with tissue, but I’m worried that it may leak. Any ideas?

The metal clip, if proven to be more durable, seems to be attractive, personally. I have 3 Preppies and my best performer had its clip break off last year. Otherwise, it's still perfectly usable if a bit thick for an F nib. XD

I feel like such a newbie in this section. You can get silicone grease in a drugstore? I'm in Belgium, what other stuff do they sell in drugstores? Just so I know where to find it. I really like the idea of the barrel becoming the ink well. Great trick!

Section and nib also interchangeable with the Plaisir.

Yeah, when I first used a clear section I thought there was some leaking or problem with ink being where it shouldn't be. However I am yet to have a fountain pen leak on me without taking a level of significant damage first.

Awww man. I really wanted one but I don't want to get pizzazz-y. In all seriousness, I just made an order and threw a preppy in, now I wish it was this but I didn't know they were still semi transparent so I skipped. I will have to throw one in on the next order for sure. : D

Okay this question is for the Plaisir and not the Prefounte but the body of my Plaisir keeps coming off on it’s own is there a way to fix that? Maybe with some silicone grease? I love the pen but I keep losing the body to the bottom of my bag lol

Is there a reason that the Preppy cartridge holds much less ink than the Platinum cartridges hold?

Dry nib solutions: 1) Just dip it into that bottle of ink for a couple seconds. 2) Put the cap on, hold the end of the pen between my thumb and finger, nib down, and waggle it 5 to 10 to 15 times. If the ink flies out the end it's in the cap not on me or my desk. :)

I actually have that exact pen, and went with Diamine Twilight (www.gouletpens.com/products/diamine-twilight-30ml-bottled-ink ) and its a great match. If you're wanting something lighter, Pelham Blue could work too: www.gouletpens.com/products/diamine-pelham-blue-30ml-bottled-ink - Colin

So I looked it up like a nerd: essentially, a jewel is a shaped/polished work made from a gem (i.e. precious or semi-precious stone). It's like the difference between gemstone and jewelry.

When I see the Dark Emerald in videos and in about 50% of pictures, it looks positively teal. Doesn't matter if I look at it on my phone or my calibrated monitor. However, the one I have looks 100% green and 0% blue in real life, regardless of lighting. What is your experience with the ones you have at Goulet? Does it look more teal in this video than in real life for you as well or is the colour perhaps slightly different on the batch of pens that made it to Europe?

it'll probably look much more emerald in proper lighting and compared to other blue-green pens, like the taccia spectrum forest green.

Looking at our stock, it's definitely more of a teal green than a true green. Haven't heard of regional variations. If I had to compare it to an ink, Robert Oster Peppermint is pretty close (www.gouletpens.com/products/robert-oster-peppermint-50ml-bottled-ink?variant=11884775505963 ) and overall, the photos on the product page are accurate to our stock! - Colin
