I love how the comments are so positive about this channel!! I really enjoy this channel because it isn't cheesy about their products! I love jet pens!!
For the longest time I thought fountain pens were expensive luxuries for old rich guys but this pen right here single handedly dispelled that preconception for me. Had I known that the world of fountain pens is filled with great budget choices I would've gotten into it long ago.
I recently bought the 0.3mm in black and purple. Absolutely love them, along with JetPens in general. In addition, I've bought the FriXion pens as well as a few of the brush pens that you all offer. Love those as well! I own well over 400 pens and JetPens does not help in my addiction lol. Also, these videos are great quality and I could watch them all day!
No it doesn’t come with a converter, but it can be purchased separately. It comes with a cartridge that can be refilled with a syringe, blunt tip needle, and bottled ink. Hope that helps!
I was kinda “meh”, when I first dipped into the world of fountain pen with preppy fine and extra fine. I thought gel pens are way smoother and more reliable for many types of paper, but then I tried the medium preppy. Hook, line, and sinker.
I just bought and received a Preppy yesterday, the 0.3mm Fine nib, and it's one of my two favorite cheapo fountain pens (the other being my $1.50 Daiso Japan no-brand fountain). Super-smooth, fun-lookin', and writing is just lovely. :-D
You know, as much as I love these pens...... I just can't get over how neat and legible that lady's handwriting is. It's a trivial thing, but I just find it cool.
These are great pens. To make sure they write well, I'd use a lubricated ink or one that's considered wet. Monteverde horizon blue or pilot inks. Private reserve has new infinity inks that I'm looking forward to trying.
Interesting but I found my preppy pens dried out. I moved houses while buying a new home and had to box a lot of my items up. I finally found my pens after a couple of years along with my Pilot Petite ones. All stored the same way. The Pilot ones wrote like new, nothing I had to do to them. The Preppy had dried up, along with the cartridges. I had to flush them and install new cartridges. They are still not writing as well as the petite. And before I get comments, I know I should have cleaned and removed the ink before storing.
You can refill the cartridge by using a normal seringe to transfer fresh ink from the ink bottle to the cartridge. It's so easy!!! I'm a beginner, and I love my extra-fine nib Preppy. I've got the 0.2 one. 😄

I've been using using this pen for 2 years now and i just wanna warn you, DO NOT DROP THIS PEN,it WILL break very easily the plastic seems be super fragile, tho its common sense not to drop your pen, I've noticed these break much more easily compared to other fountain pens I've used, tho this is the only downside to this pen, after 2 years of writting, i can this pen is literal perfection (except ofc the fact that its almost on it's breaking point because of me dropping it all the time :P )
Coming from a ballpen the fountain pen gives me zero feedback that I don't even know if the nib is touching the paper and I might bend and ruin a few nibs before acquiring the feel of how to write with less force with a fountain pen. I was very surprised.
Kamarae Haas lol i know that. it came in the mail for me a couple of months ago and its pretty difficult to draw or doodle with it so WRITING IT IS THEN XD
Nah, not very good for that purpose. You can find unexpensive pens like that, that are good to draw with, but it's far better to spend a little more on something more suitable
Kaweco makes a great extra fine nib, but you should also consider writing on high quality paper such as that made by Rhodia or Maruman as this significantly reduces scratchy writing.
How ridiculous is this video not to show the most significant feature of this pen!? It did NOT show how to convert it into an eyedropper pen. It just gloss over that but did not show how it's done for those who are new to fountain pens and to this one is particular. I know how to convert it into an eyedropper, but you folks didn't show that in your video and you should because that is what this pen is most famous for. Like for real!
Hey now, back that truck up. I love all 8 of my Preppys: 1 05 and 7 03's and I unequivocally wish they were ALL 05's!!!!! So, "line variation" is all you can muster for 05's??? Try 03 scratchiness out the astericks. Wow, I call narrator bias on this. ;-)
Recently bought a Preppie because of all the good reviews. It is very dry with very poor ink flow, unusable actually. Any ideas on how to fix that. Smoothest nib I felt ever. Would to get it writing. Its a medium.
What nib do you suggest me to use for note taking and some rough use.I am thinking about a medium size and the quality of paper I use is just like an A4 size paper quality.
I have one, and LOVE it but wondering how to go about refilling the ink? I'd rather not go the cartridge way due to waste ... So it's maybe looking like I need a converter?
You can also reuse the cartridge by cleaning it up and then fill it up with ink if your liking by using a syringe ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-QloRQWHe5Gk.html
I hve bought preppy seeing good reviews, using it with its own cartridge, writing very smooth but its ink supply is very poor, it keeps on stoping after writing a while. Any solution to that.
I wonder if these pens write well on the Hobonichi planners' tomoe river paper? I'm a little concerned if it would bleed through or ghost on the other side of the paper. Hope to get replies! Thanks for a great video introducing this fountain pen!
I have seen some comments that the the 0.3 that is fine nib gets dried fastly is that true because I need to buy the pen. Please give me a reply anyone who bought the pen. And even jetpens.
Could anyone suggest which other brand's cartridges will fit in a Platinum Preppy fountain pen? I have the green ink pen but have found the ink to be very light- almost as if it's mixed with water. I am looking for green ink cartridges only. Thanks in advance!!
Hi there! You can see all the compatible ink cartridges here: www.jetpens.com/Platinum-Preppy-Fountain-Pen-Black-03-Fine-Nib/pd/24021/refills?&f=605e3cb4f7e12d265eb14346b2ddddb1f42861f02487a643
can i switch the colors in the pen? i bought the 05 pen in black, as well as the pink + violet refills. I haven't started using them yet but i was wondering if i should just buy a the violet + pink pens instead of using the black pen case?
vladutzzvm It's really personal preference! If you're used to smaller tip sizes we would go with the 0.3! It is scratchier than the 0.5, so if you're sensitive to that, go for the 0.5. :)
The cartridge that comes with the Preppy is not water-resistant, but a separate waterproof refill does exist: www.jetpens.com/Platinum-Carbon-Pen-Ink-Cartridge-Pack-of-4-Black/pd/3462

The nibs don't really flex so you won't get the thick/thin line variation that you need in calligraphy. If you want to try anyway, the Medium nib size is your best bet!

The fine produces more feedback than the extra fine? Stop making idiotic commercials and do real reviews. At least nine times out of ten, the fine produces no feedback, and the extra fine produces a good bit. Just like with every other fountain pen on the market. The finer the nib, the more feedback you get, always, unless a nib is simply bad. What, did you try ONE pen, pick your nose, flick off a few brain cells, and shoot this commercial?
