They ought to sell this video with every snowblower. Good crisp lines. Doesn’t blow the snow into the street. This is the way to use a snowblower. Out here in north Idaho we have about 3 ft so have had fun with mine. Nice to see you taking care of your neighbors. Use to do the same when I lived in Minnesota. Stay safe hope you get more snow. 👍
Hey PlayHouse. I hope we do too. 2’ outside here right now. Chance of snow on Fri & Sat, but not much. Itchin to get my SHO out and clear some more snow. Thanks for the + comments!
Hi Ryan. With the autoTurn it rolls so easy, you have to watch it when your on a grade. I saw it start to take off, and I thought “crap, I should have pointed it across the hill.” Oh well… live and learn. Thanks for the positive comment.
Looks good, I got to run mine for the first time today as well. You gotta love that growl you get at the end of the driveway. It put a smile on my face. Thanks for sharing.
Hi John. Your right, that engine with its 17 Lbs. of torque definitely growls when under load. I’ve never owned a snow blower before that loves to have its bucket full like this one does. The more you feed it, the further it throws it. Thanks for the + comment John, and remember, fear no blizzard with an Ariens with your garage.
Finally! Someone on RU-vid who knows the correct way to blow snow!! With the wind and doesn’t blow snow over what was just cleared. My hat is off to you sir.
Thanks David… got lucky with the steady west wind today. We live 5 minutes from Lake Michigan and after storms pass, the wind usually is very shifty. Thanks for the compliment!
Yah David, I started with machines that ran the auger all the time (Snow Boy) LOL . I try to keep the auger engaged as much as possible after I start. I Figure it’s much easier on the belts and the machine. Thanks for the + comment!
Hi Michael. I could probably get by with a smaller machine 80% of the time. However, when we get 12” with a storm, and then 10” wrap around lake effect snow, I’m glad I have the bigger machine! I hear good things about the compact 24. It’s an Ariens, so I know it’s a a quality machine. This winter has been slow here. We’ve only gotten 14” total for the whole winter. Lots of 1& 2” crap that I have to shovel. Had .5” of ice a couple of nights ago, which really stunk. Thanks for the comment.
Had the same snow here in Michigan today. Got the new GL Edition out for first time. Same as you, great machine. Good technique in the video. Thanks Bruce!
That little LED light bar looks perfectly positioned. Most lights back further cast a shadow up close to the machine in front that the extra light catches.
Got to use my Platinum 24 SHO a couple days ago. 6”-8” of powder like this. A very powerful machine. Probably the most powerful 24” blower on the market. It really does blow this kind of powder snow further if I’m moving faster in like 4th gear as opposed to going slower in 1st or 2nd gear. These things just love to eat up the snow!❄️
Greetings Adam…. I believe it is the most powerful 24” snow blower produced at this time. I agree these machines scream “feed me”, I wish I could walk faster with a light powdery snow like this, but the old legs don’t move as fast as they used to LOL. 3rd gear is usually tops for me unless I’m in transport mode. Thanks for the + comment, and remember, fear no blizzard with an Ariens in your garage.
@@blowingsnow4fun Owning one of these Ariens definitely makes you wish it would snow more.. yes I said snow more lol.. ❄️ thanks for the comment! Really enjoy your videos!
You love to see it! I love a good snow blower! my buddy works at lowes and is always telling me to get this Platinum SHO and now i'm thinking, maybe I should!
Great video! Just got our first snow over the state line here in Illinois as well yesterday, got around 5 inches as well. I don't have an Ariens blower, but I have a single stage Toro and a 2 stage craftsman that I just bought. Got to use the craftsman and I'm pleased with the performance so far!
Hey Neighbor… thanks for the + comment. I’ve had lots of machines over the years. I have a 1980’s Toro 824 that is still operational, and has served me faithfully. Never had a Craftsmsn. What kind of engine do you have?
@@blowingsnow4fun It's a Craftsman 208cc engine. The snowblower is a 2015 that I bought used. The previous owner only used it once or twice a year so it has very few hours on it, oil changed yearly anf runs flawlessly
@@andyslawncareandoutdooradv glad you have a machine that you have confidence in and runs well. My father had a Reo Wheelhorse back in the early 70’s that he bought new. That thing would just randomly not start, and usually when there was 16” of fresh snow! He had no confidence in that machine, and it was in the days before electric start.
Maybe it's just the area that I live...but many years ago I was taught by my father that you are to help your neighbors. I've not seen what you have done and appears that you are doing to help your neighbors. I live in a very friendly neighborhood with neighbors knowing everyone's name. But when it comes to helping "your neighbor," I don't see it. I have noticed that most all neighbors, when removing snow, will clear their sidewalks JUST to their property line. I have a neighbor across the street who in her 50's and is a widow with many of her neighbors go to the same church as she does. But in the 20 years I have never seen anyone help her in anyway when it comes to yard work. I've been removing her snow for around 17 of those 20 years. Over the years I thought shivery was dead...it's renewing my faith in mankind (or should I say personkind) when I see what you are doing to help your neighbors. Now please don't tell me you are being paid to clear the neighbor's driveways.
Hi Sandy. No, no pay. I remember in the 70’s my father putting new shingles on our roof. By the time 5:00 rolled around, 3 of our neighbors were up there alongside of him shingling. That’s the way many neighborhoods used to be, and that’s the way I was raised . I miss that! Glad to hear your helping your neighbors. Maybe it will catch on. Thanks for the + comment.
Hey TwoBuck. Good call…I was having fun. I’ve been waiting to take the SHO out of the stable since last February. Just wish we’d get more snow so I could have more fun. Good hearing from you !
Running an Ariens Platinum 24 SHO here in New Hampshire....what year is this Platinum? Great machine but a real workout (the old auto-turn nightmare) until the 150' up-sloping driveway was totally redone this past summer. In previous years imperfections in the driveway surface would make the Ariens turn sharply right/left...no degree of tire inflation, ride height adjustment would solve the problem. A problem that Ariens was well aware of for many years...
Hey. Mines a 2019. I have heard the first years of autoturn resulted in a lot of customer frustration. I am fortunate to own the design that probably resulted from the early mistakes. Even my wife can easily use this powerful machine, and that’s due to the autoturn. I’ve read some guys say they found some improvement with early autoturn with Arnold roller skids. IDK personally if they help or not. I wish you luck with your machine.
@@blowingsnow4fun It's a 2015 model year and unfortunately has the auto-turn problem. But it seems to have been "solved" by the new very smooth asphalt driveway put in this past summer (2021)...after 5+ years of dealing with a bucking bronco each time it hit an imperfection. Which made for a great workout each time it was used. Redesigning moving the axle location made a big difference in later models. Later confirmed with Ariens support/engineering over the phone...
Glad it’s working for you now. Guess you skipped the gym on days you blew snow in the past! We’ve only had 7” of total snow here this year. Wish we’d get some more so I can give my machines a workout!
Thanks … with an Ariens, it’s actually enjoyable to go out there and do battle with the snow. We’ve only gotten 14” all winter here in SE WI with 5” being the biggest single snowfall. Hell we get 14” in a single storm sometimes!!
@@blowingsnow4fun we have around 3 to 4 feet of snow in most places around here on average. Moncton NB Where the snow drifted is worse. In a lot of sections in the city where the houses are closer together the snow is piled up 10-12 feet, running out of room to put the snow. I am fortunate i have place to put the snow. We recently got mild temperature with a mix of rain and snow. everything is pretty soggy right now. hopefully it will turn cold again soon as this mild temperature is gonna make a bigger mess if it does not get cold again soon.
New Brunswick … that makes sense why you have the snow you have. Well you sure have the right machine for it! I know you enjoy snow. Check out these guys blowing snow. There a little reckless, and the snow is really light and fluffy, but this is probably the best snow blower video I’ve ever seen. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-XPBZsipD8-M.html Let me know what you think.
Hi….It’s 24” with a 369CC engine. If I go any wider, I can’t get it out of the garage without pulling a vehicle out, and I hate compacting there snow down before I blow it. Thanks for the comment. Murphy’s law….buy a snow blower, or a snowmobile, and it won’t snow. LOL
Thanks John…My driveway is not that steep, but these machines really roll quite easily. I should have parked the machine Acrossed the grade, as I know I should. I do appreciate your positive comment, and I will check the adjustment as soon as it warms up a little here.
