@@dracoswhitewolf he's referring to the imperial guard from warhammer 40k. pretty much any faction from that universe could stomp any faction from star wars, but imo comparing universes never really works, the power levels are too different.
Pretty easy when you barely need much food and pretty much everything can be expendable and eventually replaced. The Republic probably could output more vehicles, but it was the manpower that was the hardest to replace, thus the eventual specialization over fielding larger numbers.
A small but reliable and logistically effective transport. If only we could see more of it. A CIS focused version of The Clone Wars TV show would be a great way to reintroduce this vehicle back into the main Star Wars series. Also that tweet at the end was hilarious.
As someone who works in logistics and loves star wars vehicles i really appreciate designs like this. Its just so good, compact and it makes sense. Good job trade federation! And thank you metanerdz, i always wondered what this vehicle was called after noticing it in the background on naboo and kashyyyk. I also own all 3 versions of it that lego has made
Makes sense to me, you have a few MTTs in front to soak up the enemy fire, and the PATs behind to carry the rest of the troops. With the PAT being smaller and lighter, you can carry more of them on a transport ship.
You could consider the PAC equivalent to the deuce and a half or other unarmoured truck to carry a lot of troops to different locations where they'll unload before the battle and advance mostly on foot. That's why we dont see them a lot in the shows and movies, but you can probably assume any time we see battle droids, they were at one point dropped off by a PAC behind the lines. Compared to the MTT which is more equivalent to a IFV where it takes part in the battle while offloading troops.
The CIS council being almost solely comprised of industry leaders was no doubt beneficial due to the abundance of logistical expertise they brought to the table.
The BX commando droid is the best! Should have replaced the B1, B2 and droideka battle droids the instant it was made! It's an improvement in every single way possible! Even if it is expensive, it's well worth having a droid 50 to 100 times more effective on the battlefield!
well, but it's right there in the name; "commando" droid. sure, it's superior to the standard battle droid in pretty much every way, but that doesn't only come at a higher cost, but also a different use case. just consider why the republic used an army of standard clones, with the clone commandos being much fewer in number and only assigned to special missions, even though, technically, they could've just cloned a ton of clone commandos.
And what about the cost ? No. B1 are the best because they be built in number and they are not expensive. BX are usefull in infiltration mission or security in small space (like droidekas).
I've always felt like the GAR is really missing having a few utility vehicles. We only see the AT-OT, but I feel like it's really missing something between the BARC/AT-RT/Swamp Speeder and the AT-TE. Like a truck or jeep equivalent like this. A nice 4-10 man vehicle.
Yes! I love these videos. The complete "life of" and species analysis are great, but it's nice to have more of the shorter vehicle/droid/tech videos from time to time.
I just want to say you’re doing great quality stuff still. I remember a couple years back watching your livestreams, the one that comes to mind is when you made the gonk droid cosplay. Keep it up man👍🏽
Man, the detail you bring to this videos is so impressive..... Most Impressive. Perfect and thought provoking while I enjoy my morning Caf. Which of course, is strong, hot, and black. Made using a Naboo Press.
Honestly, the only battle use I see for these in the Clone Wars is either droidekas or commando droids. No point to waste space carrying B1 or B2 droids when the MTT does that better
I disagree. It's basically a truck, it's propably much cheaper to operate than MTT and is faster. Excellent way to bring up reinforcements as second wave after droids deployed by MTT have been spent.
@@dragonblaster-vu8wzit's not meant to be on an active battlefield, its meant to shuttle droids in calmer environments where the armor and size of the MTT is not only unnecessary but may be easier overall
@@dragonblaster-vu8wzDid you watch the video? It's a support vehicle meant to transport infantry from storage to another staging area efficiently. Tanks and armored carriers like the AAT and MTT go in with those vehicles even if holding onto handrails.
@@dragonblaster-vu8wz Well, Since Indirect fire is not really that much of a thing in Star Wars Battlefields, It can get pretty close to frontline, and just behind the frontline it can deploy its droids, which then can walk to battle lines to help MTTs and AATs without exposing the vehicle to much danger, basically how military trucks work with modern armies.
As I kid, I got 3 of these Lego Droid carriers for my birthday the year phantom menace came out 😁 the next year I got the MTT, I had my own little Lego Droid army ❤
Cool practical concept. I’d love to see a Technical version with improvised armor to protect the cargo tho. Also as cool as the MTT droid rack is the ones we see in Phantom menace are ludicrously complex. Why not just have the droids unfold INSIDE the MTT and walk out the front hatch instead?
I actually have that knockoff! That thing is straight flames; it's worth the price in comparison to official Lego, and the quality is still quite good despite being off-brand! I'd recommend it if you're looking for that vehicle. For reference, I also had Lego's official one, so I had a basis to compare. Another great video! Thanks lots.
@@aurorahasfallen definetily, back in the day i got five of the 7929 set, only downside is i have five Jar jars aswell but also 50 b1 droids just from that, around 200 in total. How many droids do you have? Oh and cant blame you for not remembering the og one, i didnt even know it was thing before i found one online. Pretty nice for its time but the 2014 version outmatches it in all categories
@@falloutgamer347 Better to have 5 jar jars then none lol, I probably have around 300 maybe 400 with the different variants (I kinda cheat by buying fakes on Amazon sometimes for like $20) I recently bought the 7662 MTT and got a ton from that.
@@aurorahasfallen Impressive! I dont think thats cheating really, a droid is a droid. Do you have them all on display? If you do they must take up a lot of space, i can barely fit my droids on my shelves, thinking of just putting them in a box to get more space for other sets. I got the 7662 somewhat recently too, around 4 months now. Hands down the best separatist set ever made but you could argue that the 8018 AAT or 7654 droids battlepack could take that place. Those are really the best CIS sets we have gotten so far, doesnt look like we are getting any now either, its been 3 years since the last CIS set
I think that these things were used very often, it doesn't make sense to have the battle droids use up power that they have to spend recharging moving across field to get to their position from the garrison. Instead you have sleds that transport them in a low power or shut down state until they get to the spot where they can be deployed safely deploy them and you have battle droids that have a full charge. Rather than ones that have had to cross terrain burn through their power supply maybe not all of it but plenty of it which essentially means they'll have a longer lifespan on the battlefield just power wise. Then you have to take into account the financial logistics, as well as the resource logistics. Even though the PAC is only a little less than a third The cost of the AAT, I guarantee you it uses a 10th of the amount of materials to build. You also pointed out with the PAC if someone were to remove the deployment rack of droids, you would end up with what is essentially a cargo sled. That makes perfect sense So it's a very good logistical tool to have for both moving supplies and troops.
one of the weakest droid designs, it really looks just like a quick kitbash to fill in the scenes of EP1 a little more, which is probably why its never really featured in a big manner again
I have a question involving the arquitens Where is the hanger bay on it, it can store 3 tie’s and 2 shuttles but i can’t figure out where the shuttles goes or how they dock to the cruiser
why would the MTT not be able to cross the lake tho. It's a repulsor lift vehicle. It should be able to cross the lake just as easily as an ATT or PAC.
They are essencially trucks. But the real difference to the MTT is probably that, deploying from the MTT, barley takes a minute. The PAC uses the same racks, but it has obviously not the MTTs rails and ability to just slide it out in full on its own power, so they probably take a lot longer to get out. Probably ten whole minutes or so. Simply put: Not good for the frontline. Brilliant to restock your MTT when they go full shuttle mode, just stack the droids somewhere in the rack, drive up to the MTT, have the thing just pick up the rack from the back of the PAC and go on. Also, perfectly adequate to get a formation from A to B without wasting the droids charge or risking them stumbling and breaking their blaster or something equally inconvinient.
There was an MTT storming the beach on Kashyyyk in BF2 (the newer one). Was this wrong of them to put in there? Are there repulsorlifts that can’t hover over water? Can you do a video explaining why some speeders can fly anywhere but some are stuck a few feet above the ground? 1:37
Why is Star Wars ship scaling so weird? Every time I hear ship they always feel either way too big or way too small even when it’s coming from official sources
These guys were cool, until they weren’t.. As I recall, these droids supposedly cost next to nothing, which is why there are so many. Think $0.003 a dozen, vs $12k per droideka. This was used to explain why they were so dumb too, but I think the AI was a weird situation. I don’t recall if they were actually dumb, or heavily suppressed.
You know I gotta ask for 90,000 or a 100,000 credits for one vehicle. That's almost as much as what we can buy here. So what is the minimum wage of the star? Wars universe like if I worked at dexs dinner Would I be getting thirty credits an hour
because I think they are bad, wanted to delete them, people said they want to see them, but they are so bad they hurt the channel growth, so I figured the only way to keep them and not hurt the channel is to put in membership, $0.99 a month gets you hundreds of old videos and I don't worry about deleting them
@@ethanbird5399 that’s also true you are very right but that got me thinking, one clone trooper with a bazooka on top of a roof or one grenade thrown in a small street and lights out you know? Haha sorry I shouldn’t put logic into our beloved Star Wars
