This was our first time staying at The Platte River Campground and we loved it! Not only is there a lot to do in the immediate campground area, it is also at the base of The Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore - providing plenty of activity for a weekend away.

Sorry for the late response, it’s been a busy summer! So glad you enjoyed the review. The wood vending machine was amazing! Was there in 18'. Best camping near Sleeping Bear. Biked part of the trail to Travers City. Kayaked the Platte River to the lake while Salmon swam up stream.

At 11:15 this is where I locked up my bike to ride down to the putin up stream and retrieve my truck and pick up the "Yak's" after paddling the Platte River. 2 mile ride 15 minutes tops.
