I only discovered Platti a few years ago, but he certainly deserves to be heard more. Brilliant Classics does sterling work introducing us to unjustly neglected composers.
It's not a long time that i am listening to Platti's music..... i acknowledge that he is definitely a giant composer and one of the best in the classical world as well. Thanks for uploading.
Although Platti cannot be compared to the more famous composers in his era, he does deserve a place in our musical history. Thanks Brilliant Classics for recording and publishing these composers, on cd and now online.
A new (to me) composer. What mellow and lovely music! Thank you for this posting. In the Sonata No. 4, I enjoyed the unusual scoring, which placed an organ in the background, behind the strings.
Wunderschöne und spannende Interpretation dieser zwölf kompakten und fein oder perfekt komponierten Cellosonaten im veränderlichen Tempo mit tiefem doch gut phrasiertem Ton des genialen Solocellos sowie gut vereinigten und perfekt entsprechenden Tönen der anderen Instrumente. Die Virtuosität aller Spieler ist wahrlich ergreifend. Alles ist wunderbar und atemberaubend zugleich!
This has been a lovely discovery. Thank you. Brilliant Classics are especially good at drawing attention to the wonderful baroque music that has been composed. Like many many others I think J.S Bach is the supremo but you can be not as good as Bach and still be very good.
@@magrathea7777 I think it is very very hard to be as good as Bach but I also think that the closer a composer is to the present day the harder it is to assess their fundamental worth and staying power. There are many many people who know much more about music than me but I am rather confused about who the really really colossal composers are after Beethoven. A number stand out as being extremely good and important but I am talking really colossal. One also needs to bear in mind that some composers are buried and then rise up again and become a huge part of the scene which they weren't so much during their lifetime and in the immediate time afterwards. This to quite an extent happened to Bach who was known and respected more to other composers than to large audiences until Mendelson revived I think the Mass in B Minor (or was it a Passion?) at a concert around 1840 - after which the concert demand for Bach's music rocketed. It makes you wonder if in more modern times there is not some buried giant or giantess that is going to be unearthed and rise up again. Especially important here is that women composers and non white composers during their lifetimes were very often extremely unfairly dismissed by many and nowadays although there is still a hell of a lot of work to do making a level playing field and no grounds for complacency the playing field may be less uneven than it once was (but still very uneven)

Biographie Platti reçoit son éducation musicale en Italie ; il est l'élève de Francesco Gasparini à Venise, étudie le chant, le hautbois et le violon.
