8:47 this one actually relates to the okapi, during an expedition to find one a guy talked about how he shot an animal that looked like a forest pig/rodent, but he said that scientists only believed that animals like that lived in Central America (ie the capybara)
8:34 This one actually refers to sightings of a possible new o'o on Maui. There were sightings between 1828-1981, including a spate of sightings between 1970-1981 on the then-unexplored east slope of Haleakala
To be fair I really am surprised this didn't even include Bigfoot/Sasquatches on here at all, because it's honestly still 50/50 considering the history there, let alone similar encounters of similar creatures around the world in different cultures. One major thing people never seem to think of or bring up as an interesting topic in terms of Bigfoot is the existence of the Short-Faced Bear, given the size and range of them we'd have to consider the fact that they could've been a major competitor to them in their shared ecosystems, if not a major factor in the diminished population of Sasquatches. But you could also argue that they couldn't even exist or thrive AT ALL in North America simply due to the Short-Faced Bear, with them being fully capable of outcompeting Bigfoots for resources and even hunting them where they would be sharing said territories. However on the other hand as well, you do have native cultures depicting two different creatures in many of their cultures for thousands of years, so they clearly weren't mistaking one for another...
Great video!👍 Also Mekosuchus should be on the next list, its a dwarf and fully terrestrial and arboreal crocodile species that has a similar ecological niche to monitor lizards and is very Likely to still persist in remote jungles of new Guinea, the and even the Solomon Islands and remote South Pacific islands, probably among the most likely species to still be extant and most possible. Even David Alderton speculated that mekosuchus or descendent, or even a close relative could still survive in countless unexplored islands near New Caledonia. Also unknown giant goannas of New Guinea and south east Asia are another interesting one.
Just a tip, when you see a c with a little comma like line underneath it, like in the Onça-canguçú, it's pronounced as an s sound. Otherwise, enjoyed this series of videos.
Thats not a bad idea ive been reading the comments and I enjoy seeing the bizarre creature stories. Also im glad you enjoyed the series i definitely want to cover some cryptids in independent videos(especially the ground sloths).
Very cool stuff. Learned a few new things that I had never heard of before. great work. Going to put all 4 parts in 1 video later down the road? I've noticed those tend to get a bit more traction in the RU-vid Algorithm.
You get so many things wrong in this video. When you call a Haast’s Eagle an elyes harrier was the straw that broke the camel’s back though. You are misinforming people. Please remake this video with correct information
Bro your voice over Audio work is suspect. Can you um, fix that? It’s dropping and cutting at random points but your BG music stays consistent- tells me your voice over audio is all bad.
