The cute rap is a meme lol. Yejun was given homework by the two rappers to compose a rap to their debut Wait For You. He came up with that and it went viral some months ago. Sometimes the group adds inside jokes to their songs.

Because plave self produces their own music, sometimes they would just insert an inside joke or memes to their songs. It’s just their unique quirk and we love it!

So a little bit of Plave lore: If you watch their debut MV Wait for You, you will notice how they're all from different places/worlds, that is because they are from different Manhwa's/Webtoon. Their Webtoons are unpopular though, so their 'world' is about to disappear, only them are left. Except Hamin who looks like he is in a dark void in the MV. That's because he hasn't officially debuted in a Webtoon yet, he's a draft basically. Somehow, Hamin was able to hack the system and called all of the other 4 members and transported them to another world called Asterum. That's the title of their album. If you play Way 4 Luv just a little bit more, you will see figures at the end looking at Plave at a distance, let's say that's the rouge-webtoon-police. Basically, they are hunting Plave, because they're not supposed to communicate to Earth or 'Terra'. These webtoon police is called Caligo. In Pump up the Volume, notice how it looks like a desert? They're actually in Mars, broadcasting to Earth. That's all for now, sorry for the long text.

Fans loved it and used it in some special situations to tease him like when asking for an encore, instead of yelling "encore" like other groups, we would yell "jjamkkan gidarimyeon doraogetjiii (means If I waited a bit, you would come back)". Since the purpose of the 3 members Noah (yellow), Yejun (blue), Eunho (white) making this song on a livestream 3 months ago was to confess to their fans, they decided to add this rap as a memorable moment between the group and the fans. 18:44 The members actually know how to play instruments and they also participated in some songs on their albums. You can try checking the credits from their Highlight Medley videos. There are members playing - drum in "Why?", "The 6th Summer", "Dear. PLLI"; - bass in "I Just Love Ya"; - keyboard in "Way 4 Luv"; - synth in "Virtual Idol"; - piano in "Merry Pllistmas". As for "Pump Up The Volume", the members played their respective instruments in the teaser clips but in the official song, it was played by professionals. Also, the members have been practicing to play this song fluently and promised to perform this song while playing instruments for fans to see in the future. Finally, I recommend you to try listening to their solo covers next so that you can recognize their voices more easily when listening to other their songs. Hello, thank you for making a video about PLAVE. It's an amazing analysis and a really detailed one. So here I want to share about PLAVE lore since you are interested, and they do have an interesting one. - First of all, the 4 members (except Hamin - the black-haired one) are manhwa (Korean comic) characters. All characters made on *Terra* (earth) are in a cube form within *Vitaexcubo* (space of life) in *Asterum* (This is a mysterious intermediate space implemented as a program through communication with developers) orbit. Once the character gets enough love, the cube will fall as a meteor, bringing it to life in the *Caelum* (It is a computer-based virtual world created by developers and a kind of parallel universe where beings in the PLAVE worldview live, also the beings belonging to that world and the world itself have egos). But when they're being forgotten by people on Terra, they will be transformed back to cube form. - In the case of member Hamin, he was not born in Caelum, as in his character is never being released, but he was born by himself on the computer, which was found by a developer. There is a setting that he is 'the only boy in the world with the ability to communicate with humans'. The details of Hamin existence aren't yet to be disclosed. - In the "Wait for You" M/V, there is a scene where Hamin seems to be trapped in a black digital space, unlike the other members who are freely active in their own spaces. Also, you can see that only the main characters (4 members) still live in their respective worlds which means the side characters have already disappeared and transformed into cube form, leaving them alone and feeling lonely. - The world view is that members who lived in Caelum were given the ability by Terra's developer to come to Asterum, and were able to communicate with Terra through cracks existing in Asterum. The reason why the members were brought to Asterum is still unknown. So in "Wait for You" M/V explains the members' journey from Caelum to Asterum. - In "The Sixth Summer" M/V unfolds from the perspective of Bamby (the pink-haired one)'s dream after coming to Asterum, and depicts another parallel universe created with the setting 'If PLAVE, who became an idol, where the beings of Terra'. While in the "Way 4 Luv" M/V contains their journey from Asterum to Terra to see PLLI (PLAVE fandom name), following the guidance of the heart that symbolizes PLLI's love. Five unidentified people wearing capes (at the end of the M/V) called *Caligo.* - Caligo is the character who had disappeared and then being revived as an army in Caelum. They're the nameless fighters who lost their senses and only followed Caelum's will. When some characters disappear, Caligo plays a role in suppressing the rest of the characters who go berserk and control the conflict between characters. The problem between PLAVE and Caligo has not yet been resolved.

They didn't play instruments but they did learn the instruments for Pump Up The Volume and played it themselves for the teasers, but for the official song recording it's the official band people not them.

Hi, I think it's very important to point this out since you mentioned Naevis😞 Just to clarify, Naevis doesn't work like PLAVE does. I highly support what I call "traditional" virtual artists, like PLAVE, bc regardless of the type of visual representation they opt for, you can witness real singers-producers collaborating with real visual/digital/tech artists (ofc no AI involved at all). But SM has explicitly mentioned that the Naevis project would be developed on the generative AI platform ixi-gen. The voice is also created with the help of AI and the hyperrealism of the 3D model was achieved this way as well. I personally think its use is unethical, but rather than worrying about people supporting AI-powered content, what I fear most is that many people- who don't support it-are still not aware of the use of AI in that project, and genuinely believe they're supporting a project created with only animators and singers. I'm pretty sure there are talented people behind Naevis, but if they cannot fully achieve a "concept" without resorting to AI, it's pretty disappointing imo. Especially because I know that SM has no need to resort to it, yet even the promotional images have those hands with like 6 fingers that they didn't even bother to correct, which is even worse, bc you start to wonder if there really is genuine love behind that project. That's why I also didn't like MAVE after I knew it's also a project made with the help of deep fake tech, from a company that aims for these characters to be fully AI-powered in the future. I know that every virtual act works differently. You can create characters that function only as characters, or create characters that only function as avatars (as a representation of yourself), or a mix of both like this group. And I don't see any problem with any of those options as long as you know that talented artists are behind their voices and appearance. But I do think there is a problem in creating a virtual act just for the sake of showing that you're innovative, replacing with technology the work of human artists; instead of creating it just as a nice platform for real artists from different fields-who love what they do- to showcase their work and/or help each other grow in the process. That's just my opinion. Anyway, I just mentioned this in case someone is not aware of that info. I really have no intention of attacking or anything like that😭. I am very grateful for this video because it's an honor to have a vocal coach analyzing some of my favorite voices in kpop. I'm personally obsessed with Noah's huge vocal range and the way he makes his voice sound different depending on the song. Can't wait to see more Plave reactions 💜

they do play the instruments! if you go to their credit on their songs, most of them were done by the members. instruments, lyrics, composed etc etc with small helps by their friends composer. that's why they have 100% freedom to make music 🎉

You're right about Pump Up The Volume The composerz (Yejun, Noah Eunho) said they listened to many 2000s songs to get the vibe. 😊 there is really a lot of content but I guess I recommend checking out their live performances (since you focus on singing technique). They perform their own songs on their comeback livestreams, and sometimes do fun karaoke sessions on their livestreams. And you may be interested to know that Yejun, Noah, Bamby sang musical before - their official channel has a highlight video of it, sometime in January. You can also check out their many, many cover songs. It shows different sides to their voices. Also all available on their official channel, divided in a few different playlists. They did their first fan concert in April, and you can watch fancams to see how their stage performances look like. They also performed on Music Core, and various cons (Idol Radio, Weverse con) before. If you'd like to watch fan guides, there are good ones by virtual npc, Pie_diaries, Rhysalle, and 별이랑 고래랑 토성. 15:26 I agree!!! The members in charge of producing songs always say they aim for "easy listening" with their songs and I wholeheartedly believe that they've nailed the formula down to the core. There's not a single Plave song that's been hard to remember. Even as a non-native Korean speaker, it's been extremely easy to remember the lyrics to their songs, which is something I'm always in awe of whenever they release new music Anyways, welcome to the club, Plave has tons of content so you can take your time to savour each and every one of them 😁 On their official youtube channel, their individual song covers and comeback live highlight clips are a good start if you want to hear more of their singing!

at 9:04 there was a point in that youtube live where the composerz line (yejun, noah, eunho) produced a little bit of PUTV where noah asked yejun to sing the alleged “original melody” of the chorus they first made and he kept singing it with a different last note than the one we hear now (which wasn’t so much of him attacking that tone, but rather just a smooth transition into a lower note than the current one). then noah kept insisting that it wasn’t the first melody that they made and that it didn’t sound the same but both eunho and yejun got confused since that version was the original they had been using throughout the live 😭 but at least the new note in the chorus is proof that noah finally found that subtle note difference LOL

I really love, I LOVE that Plave is gaining the fame and recognition they deserve. Many underestimate them for being "virtual" even though everything they do, they do it using mocap suits and they can still dance and sing. Also, the fact of being their own composers, writers, producers and choreographers is something that not many artists do. I hope more people give them the opportunity to show the talent they have. ❤ I hope there will soon be more Western Plli (I say this as a Mexican Plli, I know that soon there will be more of us and I also hope that we can keep the fandom as solid and respectable as we have done so far)

I frequently watch your reactions but I'm not one to comment often... Just wanted to thank you for giving them a chance and reacting! What really surprised me about Plave and got me into them, is that they're 100% self-produced! I don't mean a couple lines here and there, or a dance move in bits and pieces.. but literally 100% produce + compose + choreograph! (Blue, Blond, White haired members are the producers/ Pink and Black haired are the choreographers) They weren't formed by the conventional auditioning process, but rather friends gathering other friends to join. Yejun the leader (blue/navy hair) was the first to join, then called Eunho(white hair) and Noah(blond princess) they are the 3 producers of the group, and the two of them called up Bamby (pink hair) and Hamin (black hair) who are the choreographers of the group. Basically just a group of friends and friends of a friend, which is why their chemistry and relationship with each other is so wholesome and really endearing. The biggest reason i think many korean fans (and international fans) love them is not just because of their music (which is great), but because of their perseverance of not giving up their dreams on music. Most of them were in the music industry or training to be, but were about to give up considering how hard it is to make it unless you're from a big company. Them choosing to be virtual idols was kind of their last resort/chance, and you can really tell how thankful they are towards their fans (it was the first thing I noticed), it's their whole attitude and the word choices (might be harder to pick up on certain things for international fans since some things can't really be translated 100%) I love their original songs and the covers that they do (both official covers and ones sung live on their livestreams), so I recommend both if you have extra time to listen! Oh my god! I ve been waiting for your reaction on Plave!!!!! My favorite song is “our movie”. Plave song has something that tickles my heart… 🥹🥹🥹 I would loooove to see more of your vocal analysis on their live stages! 18:44 some members are known to play musical instruments (eg. Yejun played piano for the first fan concert - amazing stage btw, Noah played an acoustic guitar during live stream) but i dont believe they play instruments for the album. For PUTV, some members took the opportunity to learn bass, drum and guitar. All teaser inst was played by the members themselves. Actual song was played by professionals. *About the instruments:* While for "Pump Up the Volume" the members left the recording of the instruments to more professional people, some of the members, especially Noah, do play instruments such as piano, guitar, bass, drums (they've mentioned it, we've heard some of them play too, and we also know this from the credits of several songs). But for some reason, the instruments that some of them already know how to play don't match the instruments that the characters they represent play (for example, Yejun irl plays piano, but his character doesn't play any instrument), and tbh I have no idea why 🙃 If you watch their MV for "The 6th Summer" you can notice it's an MV made in 2D animation and their characters play the same instruments there, so my theory (JUST A THEORY) is that the artists for that MV assigned everyone the instruments that they thought looked the best without thinking too much about it; and now that they wanted another MV with a band concept but in 3D with mocap, the members probably wanted to play the same instruments to keep it consistent with that previous MV. That's probably why, as other comments have already mentioned, to record the teasers for this song and also make the MV, they learned and practice with those designated instruments. And they still did great imo. Anyway Thank you so much for this video!! 💜. I'm happy. I loved your comments about their voices. I was dreaming of watching a vocal coach analyze them as many people still don't know that these guys are real people with real talents. And the colors of their voices are one of my favorites, especially in pop rock songs.

they do play instrument but for official original songs (not cover) they said professional helped them, but for their individual covers, pump up the volume instrument trailer, they are the one whos playing, they also do play instrument at their live stream and concert, noah with guitar, yejun with piano
