Some tips for DS2: Best dodge is sprint/strafe. Also if you are doing rolls keep your weight relatively low for minimum distance-its why the smelter sword kept roll catching you. AGL of minimum 89-91helps to have DS1 medium rolls. So attunement investment is good because of slots and AGL. Get small weapons and big weapons of at leats the 2 damage types. Strike dmg is god tier in DS2 Movement and positioning is better than big numbers generally. Smelter Demon is a small weapon fight, only use big weapons if you plan to use lightning resins to out trade in case you get hit. Poison trivializes Smelter Demon. For some other boss fights big weapons are better like Gargoyles, Mytha, Pursuer, and so on. Its not like DS3 where you can solo the game with your main/fave weapon. I mean, you can technically, but its pain. At the very least stick to small vs big weapons tiers I mentioned above. Usually the rule of thumb is that the more gigantic or less humanoid the enemy the better a small weapon will serve you. And the smaller or more humanoid the enemy the better big slow weapons will help. The same applies to DS3 with the missing poise issue but DS2 has poise(its on swings like hyperarmor of DS3) so weapon types and manuvers matter more than the other two games in the trilogy.
I noticed the Smelter Demon killed you during a roll. That means that your ADP(adaptability) is probably below 30 of your Soul Level. If your character have 10 points in ATN(Attunement) and 30 in ADP your Agility will be over 100. Meaning that you s will be the same as dodge rolling in Elden Ring. Also, I'll let you on a secret 😁...use the Rapier and Estoc. Those 2 weapons melt bosses health bars like Nashandra was melting you! Although, the Large Club and Great Club are still good.
Only Raime because you have to respec for ADP 20+ or full tank. It's almost like Soul Vessel is mandatory for that fight. And Frigid Outskirst op horses
is this a first time playthrough or not? i'm new and confused. if it is a first time, there is a problem with this video. you can't just skip a chunk of the game from shrine of amana to dragon aerie, but i guess it's not a blind playthrough at least (due to burning the windmill for the najka bossfight 1:03) just curious though.
Stop running from the mobs, in 2 you will end with the entire area chasing you. The best example is the dragon area, if you defeated the first big knights the rest of the knights will let you pass out of respect Btw if you complete the 3 dlcs you can take the crowns to the old king to "bless" them. You will still die like any other undead but you wont get cursed/go hollow. Really useful against nashandra
