@@CaerEsthar so play more patches cycles are 4 mnths. you have 7 weeks for normal raid. i play 2 characters, for rp. i have 5 jobs geared on my main as i play on my alt after im done my dailies.

@@azadalamiq we are talking about being BIS geared which is impossible for more than 2-3 jobs until several MONTHS after a raid release. Best compromise is to just unlock raids and tomes on the odd patches, the time gating is wholly unnecessary after that

@@azadalamiq Even if you have the time for this, you are still bottlenecking because of all the weekly limits. Why do you have an alt in the first place? Having an alt is just a way to cope around the weekly limits. Some actual solutions would be increasing the cap or making it so you can gear secondary jobs way easier. They could make it so you only have to pass the initial hard barrier for your main job and then getting the gear for alt jobs could be as simple as clearing something and getting a token for sets of gear that you already acquired for your main. You still need your alts leveled anyways if you want to equip the gear and plus you already gone through said process once so I don't see the problem if it's just for your secondary jobs. People just want to play new content on different jobs but have to suffer through the weekly capped gearing progress. Having to wait on weekly caps for an alt job is not fun and ridiculous.

Ever since I leveled everything to 90, I feel never bored. I change it up whenever I want and PF seems less stressful because I can switch to whatever job that they need. I've thought leveling all to 90 was going to be stressful but it turned out to be the opposite.

I've almost, got every job leveled to 90. I don't really know why I'm doing this to myself, but I can't stop. I've just got Paladin. Dragoon, Machinist and Bard to go, and I'm done.

Thankfully this only effects savage and ultimates, rest of the content, even extremes, can be done in crafted gear with any job you wish

Depending what stats you want, a penta-melded crafted gear may be BiS for certain jobs... 🤣 I find this hilarious, I haven't checked BiS for all the jobs this tier, but it's funny when it happens

We have had the same tome cap since ARR it’s ridiculous. Sure we also technically have the same number of set types, but with so many more jobs now people are much more inclined to gear more than 1 role. Their is also ofc weapons which is the most important upgrade for any job and for that at least their is 19 (soon to be 21) separate upgrades to get. We need a higher tome cap or more options for raid equivalent gear.

Gearing alts make zero sense and here's why. Most xiv classes only need 4-5 savage pieces (1 ring + whatever is BiS). It's been almost this way since stormblood with the introduction of the coffer system. At most tiers I had 4 classes geared before the tier ended in BiS. So I never saw the value of gearing an alt when the game just let's you play everything on one character. You cannot move gear over to another anyway so there's zero point....its just a mentality brought from other raiders from other mmos (WoW for the most part). Maybe back in the day when you couldn't move datacenters an alt was valuable...but now thats even less...

I wouldnt mind the caps if there were ways to keep motivating people to play more reclears. Like different type of rewards for clearing for 30-50 times the same run. Something not too bad but not too good just to motivate those who are obsessed with getting achis. This would also help to clear for those who are in PF struggling to wait for a party to fill after the first two months of tier opening. But who knows this may be bad cause then less people would put up gil runs and I can already hear people crying about that. Though i find it funny how when you clear the savage you have more chance to have a full 630 savage gear than the tome gear set... which should not be the case in my opinion.

I did the double level up thing myself. Did Drg with Ast etc. Now I'm thinking Mch and Sge when they both at 70. Less burn out that way.

This is a tired argument. If you want BiS in multiple slots, then put the time in, but you can still clear savage fights in crafted gear in any role, especially once they've been out for a while and standard strats exist. You don't need BiS for every job and if you want it, it's still only a matter of time to get it, especially once drops are uncapped. If you have that much of a problem, start raiding once it's uncapped and you can farm every raid piece you need for BiS in 1 day.

Oh no I'm a newbie and don't really get what ure saying and I'm afraid I'm doing something wrong. I started as an archanis main thought it could evolve to a white mage, after finding out I changed and now I'm a white mage Lv53/ archanis lv30. Am I wrong to have main with all the healing classes in it? I just love support role and tank's. Thought of creating a second character later to have all the tank jobs. Is this a good plan? I could use some pro advice.

No no. This only applies to on-content endgame raiding. Basically, what happens in endgame is that you can play every job on one character, but you can really only gear one job at a time for Savage and Ultimate raids. Enjoy the process until you get there!

I'm trying so hard to understand the item tiers in this game. Level 50, starting hard content, 1/3 through my Relic Reborn and I'm worried about how much of this is even going to matter a few weeks down the road. Is the relic weapon replaced? Should I just run through the story and ignore everyone? It's nice there's so much stuff to do, but how much of it is overshadowed by current expansion content. Playing catch up in FFXIV so far has been a lonely experience.

Two ways of looking at this really - there's definitely something to be said for enjoying the journey, but you are correct in that you really start to dig in with other people once you get to the current expansion. I will say that ARR is by far the weakest part of the game. Heavensward, Stormblood, Shadowbringers, and Endwalker are all a massive step up in quality and community.

@@elgatochurro here's the perfect example of my point. I'm no further in the story quest than I was 10 days ago... but I'm First Flame Leuitenant, unlocked all the dungeons (HM) and now I'm running around like a crazy person for 36 atmas (3 sets). Too much to do.

The problem is getting a raid alt is so much fucking work. I seriously don't want lose all my progress, all my achievements and earned mounts, gil and all kinds of other stuff just because I want to get more gear. The games gearing system is absolutely horrendous and has been for a while. I really hope they change this stuff since the game actively pushes against you making alts.

@Caer Esthar I have all my jobs 90, maxed out eureka and bozja, all my glams and relics, plus all my gil and retainers plus a shit ton more I just don't get on alts. I have 187 mounts and only like 20 of em I can use. Have to spend even more money just to not suffer through all the msq and stuff I need, let alone unlocking other classes vs just paying. I shouldn't need to spend 80-100 bucks just to have an alt for raiding. What's the point of playing every class on one character if I can't even gear em all

That's because you don't have to gear them all. Extreme and savage bosses are not about gearing, it's about the experience of the fight, the glory of battle! Those people on PF are sick and weird people if they restrict others based on a number.

@@BranBal I do have to gear them if I want to play them in the content, or I literally will die to mechanics because the mitigation at this level isn't going to be necessary for everyone except me and conditioning PF players to mit extremely for just one player like it's week one with shields and such is not something that will happen, and groups will kick you and move on. And that's if you even reach the PF requirement. If you make your own people will just leave if they see that happening. You are delusional if you think the "glory of battle" will keep PF alive together.

It's why most people just choose what they're going to play for the raid tier before the tier comes out. Like, I get it. It's just utterly pointless imo to consider playing more than 1 job (or role since all role gear is sharable) before you're on reclears unless a class gets fucked over somehow. The fights are made to be killed with crafted gear of the patch so you don't even need the gear. PF is gonna PF. You don't PF if you're alting around lmao you get a static

Really unsure why people are trying to play different jobs they don't main consistently in hardcore endgame content. Sincerely doubt half of the players wanting to swap from a healer job to MCH will understand the complexity of playing MCH if that healer job is WHM. Gear your main job. Then worry about gearing non-main jobs. That simple.

I am currently on break, I am in the process of finishing leveling up reaper to lvl 90, but for me it's not to get bored with the class I am playing. Thankfully since both reaper and dragoon share the maiming gear set I don't have to farm as much with the exception of the weapons. I do have to farm gear for both samurai and dark knight eventually. I guess I want some variety to what I go through solo content with, with a group of people I will stick to either reaper and dragoon.

For a bit of gameplay variety. That simple. The class you play is kind of the lens you view the game through, and being able to switch it up on a whim makes it interesting. Because of the one and done gear progression system you can't really do that for endgame content, and I think it's a shame. It's fine that you're content with the one class, but there's no need to be so unnecessarily dismissive of people who would like more variety.

I just stopped at 620 since there's no reason to go beyond that when I don;t do Savage. My FC doesn't have a static and all my experiences in PF have been just PAIN and MISERY. I mean, I get an asshole in the party one out of 20 times when doing content like normal raids or dungeons, but when its Savage it almost turns the other way around... and I understand, since doing the same thing over and over and dying continuously isn't fun, but man CHILL THE FUCK OUT.

If you're just playing to have fun, you're likely not going to be going into extreme/savage/ultimate stuff when it's current in the first place. But for the people that are, they have goals in mind aside from just having fun, and they would like to achieve them.

I was humbled to be approved as a beta tester (Playstation), before the actual launch. It sold me to buy the game. The game was very fun! I finished it once, then the game began to fall apart on me. The TIME and intense GRIND investment you require to do all the end game stuff. I don't know how you people do it.

Or you can just stick to 1 character and gear a job you want. Then when you're done with gearing for the week, help the noobs who still haven't cleared the new content and do mentor roulette to help the new players.

That's missing the point. Like duh he could do something else. He could cancel his subscription and commit his life to saving the rainforest. He could pick up knitting. But what he would LIKE is to have the option to enjoy and challenge himself by doing engame content on several different classes in FFXIV. As the game is designed right now there is little room to do that as the ilvl people expect you to bring keeps creeping upwards every week. It's cool that you're fine just mindlessly grinding out mentor roulettes in the downtime. Judging by the scarcity of the mentor achievement mount I think you're part of a smaller minority than this guy though in terms of what you want to do though, so I don't see the need to be so dismissive of what he wants out of the game.

Ok, mister cry-a-lot, game does give you an opportunity to play any job on 1 character, yes, but what does it have to do with BiS gearing? Do you expect that everyone should have all the gear on everything, just because? Plus, if you have problems gearing more than 2 jobs to BiS, given that you have entire time of 2(!) patches to do so, it’s more of a you-problem, is it not?
