There doesn't seem to be any details on the net about Pat Heywood's passing. I had a look because I always enjoyed seeing her performances, especially in an episode of Public Eye entitled Horse and Carriage.
I see bbc has just started screening Live basketball from america . . .- and they expect me to fund that ...as well as Rap music shows and drag queen contests .. - no chance !!!!!
There may've be better actors, but I fully concur that Leonard was well worth watching. There was certainly more to him than Rigsby, but he was still great in Rising Damp.
Ain't that the truth. As long as the MSM push the government-sanctioned message enough, the vast majority of the people will buy into it. It's deppressing AF.
only found this by accident. I haven't cried laughing at a tv program for a long time. this was so funny that I watched it twice. Leonard rossiter was a comic genius. thank you for uploading this gem.
Some of them maybe, but there were a lot of shit episodes too. I ran across a few dozen of these, which were unwatchable! If I'm going to put an hour to an hour & 1/2 of my time in, the story or at last the characters have to be interesting to me. Also as an American, I often struggle trying to understand Irish and Scottish accents.
absolutely. a reason why acting has gone to the dogs is because stuff like this isn't produced any more. actors don't act any more, they just portray themselves. the versatility of rossiter here just exemplifies his relatability.
@@executivedecision6141 I'd be interested to see what other shows are on that site. Please can you give a clue to its name? Also, do you have to be Premium member of RapidGator, to access files? Thanks. I will remove this and any answer that gives details, YT might not like.
Had me chuckling and laughing all the way through. We are Soo PC now it's gone too far, couldn't complain about the language, what more do you want! Excellent writing, acting and tiiming! Loved it.
Brilliant play brilliant acting and brilliant writing. What a treat, thank you for up loading this absolute gem. They dont write them like this anymore more the pity
Oh my goodness, I did laugh when they were remembering the dog's sexual desire for next doors lawnmower. This only ended when they had the poor dog's "Whatsits" removed. The woman says that after that "he seemed to lose all interest in life". Shame on me but I burst out laughing at this point.
That card table reminds me - last Sunday I "inherited" (ie someone was giving away) a ton of old furniture I had to carry home one by one (I am mid way through carry a large wardrobe in pieces, a week later) - but the card table, - which is really a tea trolley with an additional felt lined card table, say's underneatrh GOLDS - LONGTON - STAFFS... I though GOLDS must have been a furniture shop but it turns out to be a manufacturer. An auction for an identical one only estimated the worth between 10 - 20 quid - but there were one or two other "almost antique" pieces there - You would have had a field day painting this lot - bedding boxes, drawers, cupboards - I needed it because i had to burn all my furnitiure which rotted stored outside waiting for the re-wire which never happened.
Setting no.5 is the closet to human flesh 🤣 . Love the play on words & Marge being covered for equipment & contents. What a hilarious British farce . euthanasia is relevant today and the digs about the right to strike is relevant today so UK we still chugging along as always .
What a work of art. Like all good writing, the laugh is uncomfortable. So many great points made in this and most interesting ones, given we are watching it years later. Lovely to see a young Lesley Manville - big fan of hers. Leonard is, as always, stunning.
What a ridiculous statement. Nobody wants rid of the aged and infirm more than the libertarian, free-market economists of the Conservative party. That conservative viewpoint is what this play is criticizing but that has gone right over your head.
what a wonderful dark satire. when you peel away the layers of the bbc, there really was so much missed. so thanks for uploading this nearly-forgotten gem. you just have to love rossiter in everything he ever did.
I rather think it has always happened, though not yet as public policy. Look at how difficult it was to catch Shipman - only when he started fiddling with wills and bequests did meaningful investigations take place.
@@Londonvoicecoaching1Indeed. I wouldn't have described this as hilarious, tragic more like as this is what the nhs are doing today and have been for years and years. I honestly don't know what's wrong with people today, they are blind to the truth. So sad😞
I was so delighted to come across this. Pat Heywood is my aunt and I’m so proud that I am related to her. She was wonderful to have as an aunt when I was a child. She is English actually. Still alive although not in the best of health. RU-vid is amazing for keeping drama of this quality alive. Leonard Rossiter of course - legendary.
OMG, when I think back to those days of Christmases past and playing boring games after Christmas dinner with paper hats on. Even the thought of Monopoly now makes my blood run cold. I kept expecting LR to say “…thank you CJ..” or sit on a whoopy cushion !!
brilliant dark comedy ,if we are truly honest looking after very old people is not fun at all , the body is doing things that are highly unpleasant plus old people can and do look scary , i should know , i look after 90 yr old mum with no help , its hard because she is not my mum really anymore ,i am her mum its heart-breaking really x
@@marshhen Lightn up. TV's nothing but showing black faces, fairies and the least talent as possible. @benitolazio8193 as made a valid point of not just the BBC not showing predominitely English actors and situations.
For me 90% of the BBC now is dross. I don’t pay my TV license ……. But if I did!! … Seriously, I don’t pay a TV license and so I do not watch any TV, download etc & especially not the BBC which is largely garbage. If any of it is any good it is available on a streaming channel. This Play for Today episode on the other hand is wonderful! Thank you for uploading.
The modern BBC version would have the wife be Arabic. The grandfather Pakistani. The daughter would be 'trans'. Leonard Rossiter's character would have to be Black African and the 'vet' would still be White English since he may be the 'baddie'. Oh, and the script would be rubbish!
Promise cradle to grave til it was starved while also having too many people that never paid into it or came just for care and left...and the comedy of the holiday music 😅
What's the name of the actor playing the "vet"? He is excellent - and made a more famous appearance as the doctor in Blackadder 2, who insists on prescribing Edmund leeches for everything.
