You can also just open a downloaded map file using the game's executable. This way the game doesn't connect to Ubisoft's servers so it doesn't matter what subscription plan you're on.
@@N-L. turn off the game. Then open a map file, and when it asks what program to run it with, locate your trackmania exe. It will launch the game and map in offline mode (you can hide the ui, theres a keybind in settingns).
thanks for posting this, had no idea you can do hotseat without access. it's weird that locally playing maps is locked but hotseat isn't when you can do the same thing there.
The main reason is because of server. When you play hotseat or splitscreen, you are not submitting any record to the server. Hence why they allow it Now if you ask me why the fuck is it like this, don't ask.
If there is a world record run during hot seat, it doesn't get recorded right? Also another way to download some maps with the game. U can play the arcade mode with starter access, when playing a map add the map to favorites. In hot seat these maps appear. A good way to practice a map!
You can still start the downloaded maps directly with the game exe but it does no longer work if you try to start them from inside the game. So it does not work for split screen.
for some people that is more than they are willing/able to spend on games. I've got my club access but staying alive is more important than paying for a fringe racing game :D
@@magicthe7 yea, also depends where are you from. In my country 10 euros is a price of a good meal but elsewhere it may be even more than people make a day..
@@ghostpepesauce8558 do you go to a restaurant without paying after/before eating or in another example do you go to work without payment? devs need money too. if everyone stops paying for games, there would be no more games to play.
Cant test it right now, but does it work offline aswell? Because I am really annoyed by the fact that you basically cant play anything if your internet dies...
It works offline as well but you have to get to the hot seat section as soon as you load the game or it will tell you that you don’t have access and you have to restart the game
dont work.. whenever i download it. its a gray file and whenever i click on it it wants me to open it in my browser and it wont let me put it in the game.
Personally the only things I want more than what you get in the free access are mainly the previous campaigns and cup of the day and some other important things like being able to to watch the records. I don't think I want more maps than these and even if I had club access I wouldn't play anything else.
Not if you don't absolutely need clubs and skins (for example if you're a Twitch streamer). In my opinion, Standard access is more than enough and gives you access to most of the game.
I have standard access but i want to play with a f2p friend but that seems pretty difficult, arcade servers are a bit stressfjlt with 5 minute map swaps doesn't really work for that. Is there any other way to do that? Can i let them control my pc remotely while we play hotseat or splitscreen?^^
i recently found out even with starter you can download a map in game on live servers, but only the one you actually playing, the way he shows goes for every map =)
Aight I hope that nadeo will fix this asap because the game is already incredibly cheap and I just can't stand ppl who are like "oh no I certainly cannot pay for other people's work". When you go to mcdonalds do you run not paying ? NO ! well that's the same. Just buy the game it's literally worth nothing and once you pay it for $10 one time you'll keep 90% of the features FOREVER. You don't lose the editor when you stop your subscription which allows you to play any map via the editor. Just pay for nadeo's work it's already a really small price for the gigantic ammount of content you get.
In my town, most people make less than $250 a month. And even if they could pay, it would be impossible because all subscription payment methods are blocked in my country. And that's not the worst situation people are in. If it's a small amount in your countries and you can pay it easily, you shouldn't think that's the case all over the world.
Anyone for whom 10$ / 30$ is little will just pay instead of this bcs the convenience cost of paying is MUCH lower than doing this All this does is grow the playerbase a little by allowing people with passion/interest but without money, who would love to play and make an effort but don't have the cash to spend on it, to play
The main problem is that the most fun things in trackmania cost money and that new people might get bored from only the normal tracks and then start to think that the paid version is a scam if they have fun for a while in this there is more of a chance they will pay for it
I find it easier to just open up the track in the editor and "validate it" this way you don't have to deal with the hotseat turn timers. also just moved downloaded maps to documents/tracmania2020/maps/downloaded
But seriously: If u are extremely Young and u can’t afford the Standard Access for 10€ a year, or can’t get ur parents to buy it for u, then go for this method. But for the sake of the game, if u like it, spend the money. It’s necessary to maintain the game and give us good and many updates. If I really enjoy the game, don’t be cheap on it. Spend the 10€ and get to enjoy COTD, live servers and matchmaking. And if u got the money, go ahead and just get club access for 1 year for 30€ or 3 years for 60€. I personally have club access, because I love the game and been playing since nations ESWC.
Add: i don’t judge anyone for using this method, not everyone can afford it and if u really want to play a certain map, go for it. But once again, if u can afford it than buy it.
