Of course you're not alone, actually i think there are a lot more players coming from even older cards, before Modern was born. I started in the times of Visions, Mirage, Tempest, between 3rd and 4th edition, planeswalkers didn't exist, Vintage and Legacy were preatty young formats, Extended still existed, Black lotus/dark ritual/hatred were played together and there was a popular saying "no one has ever won a championship neither gaining life nor with a tribal deck", beautiful values lost long ago. I hope one day phyrexians Obliterate (saw what i did there? :) ) white from existance... life gaining, plenty of human minions spreading like a plague, depending on +counters, and abusive angels with absurd power for little mana costs just because design teams love them meeeeeeeh only encouraging lazy players... ok, all of that escalated very quickly LOL.
