He makes lifestyle music, fashion, girls, cars ect. That's always been his original sound hence his name "PLAYBOI" until he switched it up at WLR. He's a feeling/vibe of irrational confidence, this from a person who's been listening since 2014. The funny thing is he exudes early hip hop in his charisma and style especially during his self titled era. Most artists don't have all those elements, so him being under the last one who did A$AP Rocky makes sense. He also had experimental producers ushering in a new sound during every era Ethereal, MexikoDro, Pierre.
tbh a lot of oldheads wanna go back to the old ways but if i showed this to someone in the 90s i think they would infact be like “yeah thats alien music from the future sounds right to me”
@@6eostorm Nope, I think kids in the 90s would like this sound as well. The only reason Old Heads don't like it now is because its not what they grew up with.
I’m 32 and Playboi Carti is one of my favorite artist of all time. I’ve always been really into Grunge Music and wile Carti sounds nothing like grunge, his music puts me in the same kind of hypnotic state that Nirvana and SoundGarden did. I don’t know a better way to explain it.
@@cuhmwould Be dope but carti never did bonus tracks before. That’ll be dope. The album will be like a mixtape tho, it’ll have a Dj in the background type vibe…
He just gets the vibe. Its not about his voice or his beats; people try to sound like him all the time and they dont get it. Its about the way he uses everything to create a vibe. He just understands the vibe.
I think the point you made about understanding this music is spawned from a newer generation and there being a level of disconnect you have with it but still being open to lend an ear was a much more healthy and articulated mindset compared to other people I’ve seen who arnt involved in this scene react
I definitely think he recorded the song in a day or two considering it has no structure. But I don't mind, because I don't listen to Carti for structure, it's about vibe and cadence for me.
You gotta listen to Carti’s voice as an instrument complimenting the beat. His really not a lyricist but his vocals flow through the beat like water 🌊🌊🌊
It’s sad people don’t listen to music without an expectation. I’m glad more often people understand it. Everything you think about can’t be meaningful/coherent/ so why make things out of your control less impactful because it doesn’t adhere to your expectations or preference
Hey Jon, I noticed you haven’t reacted to The Alchemists album, Flying High Pt. 2. The alchemist raps in all of the songs and it is one of my favorite projects of the year. I hope you’ll give it a listen!
Carti has set himself up to be allowed to experiment by taking the risk of changing his sound every time he drops for the past 10 years. And it's well received because he's really shaping the sound to him instead of latching himself onto it like Drake.
@kiezaleI showed some older heads it at work and they were fw it. One of them was sayin the first part had Weezy vibes, which is what carti said he was goin for on this album
I don’t expect Jon to like this not even hating but you have to have a certain specific level of cool/vibe to get it which he lacks. This isn’t what rap sounds like you still have hardcore level rappers it just breached out due to 808s
U are spot on with everything u said gang..carti does have his own wave and creates the vibe for his fans but lyrically hes ass and i dont think he cares lol
@@clamnlmb i do listen..he says wavy shit but thats not “bars” i neva heard a carti bar and said sheeesh that was heat not saying hes not 🔥 its just not lyrically heat yk
Waiting for your reaction to Lana Del Rey’s cover of John Denver’s “Take Me Home, Country Roads”, and your reaction to her Elvis tribute performance of the classic “Unchained Melody” at Graceland…
Playboi Carti is one of my most listened to artists of the last few years, I love Die Lit especially, and really enjoyed Whole Lotta Red, but this song absolutely blows IMO
I couldn’t agree more, carti fits on this style and his label mates try to copy his style, production, and fashion and it just comes across as a copy cat and they just can’t get on the same level imo
I think the goal of this new music is to entrance people with vibes and beats, and not lyrics necessarily. Obviously its also targeted at a non sober audience. Remove the instrumental and you lose everything. This music is not for me, but I get it. Shout out to Young Thug for pioneering this sound, he does it the best.
Remove the lyrics and you also have nothing... There's a talent involved in creating these vibes because if most people tried(as a lot of people do) it wouldn't hit just the same
@@augustusmuteb1336 It doesnt matter the effort put into it if you dont like it. I dont like the majority of trance music Ive heard. A lot of Metal, EDM, and some of this new rap attempt to induce a trance in its listeners (you can also include most gospel music). Where lyrics are unintelligible or repetitive or non existent or straight up used as instruments. I did say Young Thug made this sound, but even then I dont always like his music. Carti is just a worse version of that sound. The popularity doesnt matter in the slightest to me, I give all artists an equal opportunity. The perfect example is Kanye, I like a lot of his music, and I agree that he's a genius producer. On the other hand, a lot of his songs are ruined by his own mid verses. I call it the poopity scoop affect. The song will sound nice, the chorus might even be great, but as soon as Kanye's verse comes, its ruined. I personally disagree with any notion to ignore lyrics. Thats a major part of the pie when it comes to music. I also really enjoy vibes when it comes to music, but lyrics are a part of that to me.
if you are one the open people that listen to only meaningful music that always has a message and i mean only that type of music stay away from me you can listen to it but you need to have a mix of different music listen to more than one genre i feel like the people hating on it must want a rapper to always rap fast with a flow that saying some real shit every time they drop a song they no longer accept what the artist puts out and just hates on it, its easier to hate than to see what it is rather what it should be.
