It took several trips to South Dakota's grasslands over the course of three years for photographer Michael Forsberg to build up a collection of images of the elusive swift fox. With camera traps and a lot of patience, Forsberg chronicled playful pups and their predator parents in their natural environment. He calls it the most remarkable experience of his life.

All animals behave naturally when people are not around. Animals fox and the little foxes every day in search of food, and they all tend to hide from people. Mountaineers, hikers, forest workers disturb the animals and they go further in the quest for peace. But these tranquil area have all less. Again, the cause of the people who take animal habitats and often times they are killed animals for money.

Took years to capture a swift fox on camera? There is quite a few of them out where I shoot prairie dogs. My dad and I usually leave them a pile of dogs by their den before we head home.

...Well, I don't know if this is a good or bad thing. It's kind of cruel if you shoot them, but if you use them for something like giving them to the foxes, i guess it's still acceptable. But don't shoot too much of them please, the foxes will be able to kill them by themselves.

canejo6 Does it make me feel big and strong? No, it makes me feel like I'm lending a hand to the landowner who doesn't want his cattle and horses breaking legs in prairie dog holes. Over three square miles of grazing land pocked with prairie dog towns old and new is something to behold. Don't be ignorant. People more intelligent than you work for something called the Division of Wildlife and monitor animal populations and set hunting regulations accordingly. By shooting the prairie dogs, I also feed hawks, eagles, snakes, badgers, foxes, coyotes, owls, etc. Is giving an animal an occasional free meal "jerk" behavior? Damn.
