They need to definitely make a CoOp game where you and 8 mates control a B17 Flying Fortress. Mission success comes down to how good you work together.
I've done it a few times, but only with a fighter escort that actually had my back and didn't fuck off to go chasing easy targets. And even then, those three kills were 100% assists, so not even mine. They're as rare as a shit that doesn't stink or need wiping.
I always confused those two planes. I was playing a game with WWII planes and the game had a bomber named B-25 Mitchell, with 2 engines, belly gunner and front glass plate. I guess the made and named it wrong....
I put my whole 650 cannon rounds in a B29 and had to RTB because I was out of ammo. He followed me and got killed by AA, didn't even get kill assist....Balance
The US 50 cals are only useful against other US aircraft. Nations like Italy and Japan have explosive filler in their 50’s and every nation has better self sealing fuel tanks for incendiary rounds than the US.
You notice they have no escort? Fighters ought to lose points if the bombers they are supposed to be protecting don't make it. That is their role. They were NOT gladiators, and fighter to fighter engagements were often forbidden by HQ, but in War Thunder that is what most people do. The game would make more sense and be more balanced and ordered if fighters lost points when all their bombers died. They'd start to protect them, and that can only be a good thing for realistic battles, as escorting the important planes, the bombers and attack aircraft that can make a difference on the ground was the fighter's role. shooting down interceptors was their primary mission, not fighting each other. If they did what most fighter pilots do in War Thunder, they would face a courts martial for letting the bombers die while they went off to have their duels in the sky.
Yeah well irl that's because you don't respawn in War thunder you wait 3 seconds and you're back in the air again, (Though I don't disagree with this as a bomber myself) that's just how it is.
Yes i had a 300% booster on and guess what some idiot teamkiller shot me from behind in RB Mode. Great what a waste i lived 10 seconds, i reported that noob but my booster is gone despite.
Cthight What's the noob's name? Sorry just curious because one time in RB Also I killed a Bomber with my bomber to his plane is a DO-217 and iam a F.222.22 but I didn't hesitate to kill him because he started it he won't stop firing his front MG At me then I had to kill him really because I have a 500% RP booster really no shit I then I killed him with my tail guns and he didn't said sorry he said I was the one supposed to say sorry but he's the one who started it must be a noob maybe I mean he's name has Minecraft on it and some random numbers and he's a level 10
Actually the wings weren't removed and fuselage not heavily damaged When in my Fw 200 C-1 I can loose both my wings and still repair in 2 min (unsure for other bombers)
I got repaired a P-51 with no left wing, engine, landing gear nor elevator I made there pressing buttons like a crazy asshole with my nose almost on the screen and finally when it said 4 min to repair I almost shouted loud af at 3 AM 😂😂😂
@big ian I ran out of fuel once so I went to refuel but I was way too fast, so I was like 80ft away from the runway, but that was apparently too far away for the lazy ground crew to walk so I had to J out lol
This reminds of way back in the day they had an Iwo Jima event I believe where the most advanced fighter the Japanese had were early A6Ms and the Americans could take B-24s. This was back when bomber weren't limited in number on a team, could take multiple cannons bursts, and Japanese 20s were sparkle cannons. Almost every single game would have at least one Zero ramming a B-24 to try and down it. It was glorious and frustrating at the same time playing on the Japanese side.
ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-nPX56GQ2s-w.html this is how it looks like to play a bomber in War thunder. All of them die and only one makes it to the target.
P. Wagner that is not what we are saying. They could have at least put in some sound for the bomber. Just make the actors shout (realistic anyways). It doesnt have to be as loud as the real thing but this is overdoing it.
I absolutely loved the book, both movies were very good too. It’s a very emotional read, knowing it all happened and it wasn’t just to one person either, thousands and thousands experienced similar to what Louis did. War is terrible, it is brutal and horrible. But perseverance and inner strength prevails in the hardest of times, never give up, always keep pushing on no matter how hard it gets. There is a light at the end of the tunnel, and every second it comes closer than before.
Raptor G well, you do in fact have a hole in your right wing, but it doesn't really matter at that point. If you don't escape the aircraft immediately, you'll have much bigger problems to worry about in a few seconds, like the ground.
Narrator" "You've got a hole in your right wing" *Looks at right wing, one bullet has gone through, looks at left wing, realize there is no longer a left wing* Me: "I think we have bigger problems" Narrator: Narrator: Narrator: "You've got a hole in your right wing"
20 mm had different ballistics than the 7.7, and they only had 60 rounds per gun on the 20's so it's entirely possible that the 20mm passed on either side of the turret whereas the seven sevens hit. depending upon a variety of factors, it's entirely possible that they would not defeat the armor plate.
Bartu Kuyulu mate have you tried landing in war thunder? Anything over 5mph and you die. Hell, you could crawl your way towards a building and you'd blow up as soon as you touch it
Bombers when I'm attacking them: completely invincible to 4000 lb of lead Bombers when I'm flying: "gunner knocked out" "pilot knocked out" "THERES A HOLE IN YOUR LEFT WING"
That's any plane I fly, the only planes I could shoot down were japanese since they catch on fire easily. But every other plane became a bullet sponge unless I flew it, and I know I hit them because I can see the hit markers and the bullets hitting the planes.
If you're wondering how the gunners were able to survive being shot multiple times by airplane guns; A6Ms (infact most fighters for the first half of the war) had rifle caliber machine guns as their main armament. So you could survive being strafed by a fighter plane. It wouldn't be high chances, but still.
@@thebighurt2495 the best thing the aircraft could realistically do for you is deflect rounds from hitting you but you’d be just as likely to be hit by a deflection from a round that wasn’t for you originally. Bomber crews over Europe had the highest casualty rate of any job in the us military in WWII
@@adamkhan4451 Well, compared to later generations of fighter. It wasn't until later in the war when the A6M was upgraded with 13mm HMGs, and we all know how American planes were covered in .50 cals. You could theoretically survive being shot with a heavy machine gun, but it wouldn't be high chance, and you'd probably be missing some chunks.
I like how there were tree's pretty much right up to the threshold of the runway, just knock them over with a bulldozer or something that extra 50 feet of clearance can make the difference.
@@JM64 Yes. Mass-produced bulldozers were commercially available since at least the 1920s and before then similar earth-moving attachments for tractors and other heavy machinery were readily available. During WW2 most American airfields in the Pacific were built and maintaned by Navy construction battalions ("Seabees"). Those units operated all kinds of heavy equipment, includng bulldozers, graders, power shovels, cranes, etc. Some of the models they used, like the Caterpiller D7, still have variants in production today.
@@ReptilianLepton yes but good luck getting them to the war when they were competing with over 50,000 sherman tanks alone for transportation. Thats not including all the other tanks, guns, ammo, vehicles, people, general supplies, ect. There simply was no room for a few bulldozers.
i dont think its accurate :\ usually you get killed even before reaching the objective war thunder needs to put the obj closer to the middle so bomber can do their job faster and then die lol
+ Romans 10:9-10 "That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Louie Zamperini was a beast of a man. He shook Hitlers hand at the olympics, spent months on a small emergency raft in the pacific ocean that was on the brink of giving up, and he survived some of the most brutal japanese pow camps. Read the book unbroken, after they landed in this scene they counted over 500 holes punched in their aircraft.
He is the bombardier. His job is to take control of the bomber (after the pilot gives him control) aim the bomber into position, drop the payload, and give controls back to the pilot. That's all he can do.
Nah, being a bomber in War Thunder is like Finding Nemo where the seagulls are enemy fighters and you're the fish. Almost like people veer off from the other side of the map once they know where you are.
Potato "Have you ever been behind a bv238 in a early spit with only 7.7mm guns? You dead boii" Yeah, that's why people with a brain try to avoid tail sniffing bombers.
Why would they go for a wheels down landing with no brakes if they knew the runway is too short? Also annoying that almost all movies use low RPM ground version M2 sound effects instead of AN/M2s. Damn Hollywood.
R Kvist the fuselage would've completely torn up without wheels, having a high potential to "fail" the landing (not to mention the wings might break and the fire hazard from the fuel tanks / lines as well)
Bombers did wheels up landings due to damage all the time, in some cases it was safer then wheels down, like when there was a risk that the landing gear might fail (like in the video) or not deploy fully. Also they could have just ditched it in the water.
Many of times a plane did a bell down landing killing the ball turret gunner at the bottom of the plane as it didn't have a hatch to allow access into the plane
I am sure it happened, but if so it was because of damage to the turret not allowing the gunner to get out. I know on the B-17 the gunner would not get into the turret until already in the air and get out before landing because of the risk of landing gear failiure or other accidents on take off and landing. And on the B-24 the turret was retractable (and with a hatch) because it would not clear the ground while the plane was on it's landing gear.
Gajian should make like a bomber escort mission for realistic battles, and a mission where you control a B17 with other players and see how long you can do to make it back to home in Britain.
You know that mission in CoD WaW where you’re in the bomber going between gunner seats? We need multiplayer games like that, some pairs of players in fighters engaging other players in fighters to defend the bombers, while bombers have 6-8 players trying to fly to an objective and drop the payload. AI flak on the ground firing up and hitting bombers that are too low or slow, or creating turbulence that makes it difficult to keep the bomber gunners aim steady. A fighter can get a shot through a bomber and take out 2 of the gunners but it keeps flying, and the other players switch to the other seats when they can to try and keep the defense up.
I remember this one time when i was playing as a bomber and i took out i believe 5 enemy fighters and was about to land but they took out all my control surfaces so i crashed into the trees just to the side of the runway it was both awesome and sad
Playing Bombers in Warthunder is like being blindfolded and being told within an hour at random somebody is gonna hit you in the face with a 2x4 bit of wood
There was one time in war thunder that I was piloting a bomber plane that had broken wheels and half of both wings was gone during realistic (I think it's realistic as it's been a while but I was on first person at the time so I don't fully know what's going on) I decided to try doing a spin/spiral dive without any prior practice and somehow managed to land it at weird angle but it still considered as landing Xd
Same I just starting playing WT but my bombers are in tier one USA and my hydro plane bomber dies so much after climbing a lot and I was right their about to drop the bombs
I used to love playing Bombers in WT, entire reason i started playing the game. Personally i dont care much for dogfights in fighters, as i prefer the feeling of sitting in cockpit view in a bomber and taking her to target. Even moreso now with VR support. However a lot of them feel way more fragile then they used to...
I started back in 2014, way before bombers even had a cockpit view. They have gotten nerf after nerf after nerf. In air RB Bombers used to be super resilient in most cases except against 30mm or larger, the gunners would actually target and fire out to .8km, and you could destroy multiple bases on a single bomb load in most bombers.
It would be cool to see bombers get a crew swapping mechanic It doesn’t make sense that some bombers have co pilots but those co pilots don’t do anything, and especially with the nuke B-29 As it’s a pain to get my pilot shot out but literally nothing else is damaged Very frustrating
I actually think that's the one time crew swapping is implemented in a sense. I would have to test it but I'm fairly certain I've seen my left seat pilot go black on x-ray and still maintained control of the plane in the PBY, and I think in one case the F82, hard to confirm on that one because it was in SIM both times. It would be nice for gunners to be able to move into the more important seats. It sucks when you only have waist gunners and both your tail and top or bottom ball turrets are dead.
Nobody: Latterly nobody: Bombers when their going to die: Step one:SPAM ALL BOMBS Step two:Start shooting at the plane that shot you. Step three:Start heading towards a tank.
