Zarabeth is my favorite Holdsworth composition. It should be a classical piece. You should cover it, the solo intro is playable on bass. 🥰

Not a very usual one when thinking about Allan Holdsworth but the whole solo from 'Endomorph' is achingly beautiful. Very emotional and melodic. I think those lines would sound great on bass btw (I admit do few bits of it when noodling, especially on fretless). Now for a scary one there's obviously the first few bars of 'City Nights' from the same album.

Love the holdsworth stuff. Lately ive been listening to allans solo on Tulio. Theres a massive lick at 1:29 followed by a g lydian(e half dim) thing , then an f Lydian ( c melodic minor) thing and then he drops down a 7th from F to G, continues down to Eb D C, which really feels like the end of the lick was just displaced down an octave and i couldnt stop listening to that for a while

Great Evan! 🇺🇸🇨🇦 The unison riff at the beginning of the song Road Games, always wondered if Jimmy Johnson or Jeff Berlin used same fingering as Alan for that....would be interesting to see your take on that. Just a thought. ☮️

I am primarily a (decided mediocre) guitar player. I learned about 3 measures of Peril Premonition and that was it for me LOL! I can't imagine trying to play any of his lines on bass!

Yeah, that is definitely a beast of a melody. As I am sure you know, even Allan played these kinds of parts with tapping, hammer-ons and pull offs. I mean who could pick all of that??? Yngwie maybe? LOL!

Someone like thundercat play fast enough on bass with fingerstyle picking and he barely does hammer ons and pull offs, Do you think his power is attainable or we mortal humans are just stuck ? hahha
