Playing Minecraft on The Best Gaming Linux Distro. This was insane, I think I’ve found the best Linux distro yet..

Today I'm going to be trying out Nobara Linux on my eBay Gaming PC! A lot of people have told me to try Fedora Linux however I came across this and it looks like an amazing beginner friendly Linux Distro built for gamers!
Nobara is based off of Fedora, It's really good for new users as it has all the apps and drivers you need already installed. It's really easy to use and setup straight out of the box! I think that this is the best option for gaming on linux. Everything is preinstalled for you such as wine dependencies, nvidia drivers and codecs. While distros like this exist already such as Pop OS!, Linux Mint and Manjaro they may not be the best optimised for Gaming straight out of the box
We're going to be installing it and then trying to run Minecraft and I will show you how much FPS it gives me and how it runs using this Operating System. We will also see how good it is for a low end PC! Lots of you guys liked my 'Playing Minecraft on ZorinOS' and 'Playing Minecraft on LINUX.' and 'Playing Minecraft on Windows 8.1' videos so this one's for you guys!

I have like a pretty meh PC from 2008 and it gets 30-60 FPS on minecraft. It's a windows PC. I guess it can run windows 10 and I do run it. A avreage likux distro gets pretty close. So I dont think its worth it. Even if its free.

@@Aymaan714 I used to get 10-30 fps (mainly 20-25 but it suddenly drops to 10 and rises again) on windows now I'm getting 40-60

@@Aymaan714 If you have Nvidia and you didn't install the pro drivers for it won't perform well... But for AMD and intel it's ready out of the box no drivers needed!

NotroDan The reasn why the windowed mode feels laggier than fullscreen is becuase Linux has this thing called compositing, which makes ur system have animations, prevent screen tearing and stuff. This is autmaticly disbaled in the background when a window goes into fullscreen mode. This is any linux that uses Gnome,Kde or anyother major desktops. U can disable this in settings

I think you provided wrong definition what compositing means on linux. There's a standard for displaying apps called wayland, it isn't an implementation, it's an standard, and to display a wayland app you need to have an wayland compositor(software that manages wayland, for ex. mutter) and they can manage rendering. With that in mind, if a full-screen app is on we can stop rendering of apps that aren't visible right now, with that we can save resources, and increase fps in games.

I’m guessing you mean that you use window managers currently. You can set up window tiling on the kde plasma version of Nobara using Bismuth. Hope this helps :)

We got the video on Nobara!!😄 So glad to hear you want to change to linux! Its true some popular games dont work with linux, but now with the steamdeck and proton many games will be compatible 😁 just take apex for example :)

Fun tip sorry I’m late. Been watching a few videos from you about Linux and I’m happy your covering Linux. With Linux you could squeeze ever more performance out of changing your cpu governor or your cpu scaling speed. Also you can install alternate kernels. I don’t recommend trying to install a custom kernel if your a newbie to Linux. As they can really give you a headache. And If your using an AMD gpu you don’t have to install any drivers really as there already in the Linux kernel. Hope this helps for anyone.

I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you’re referring to as Linux, is in fact, GNU/Linux, or as I’ve recently taken to calling it, GNU plus Linux. is it normal that the wifi is bad on nobara (for me atleast) ? just wanting to know if the problem is from nobara or from my router. also this distro is insane, I was having 90-100 fps and then got 150-260 fps with nobara with 20 render distance

Nobara Linux is very good with games, i used it before, i had a nice experience but rn im using Zorin OS but instead of the main layout it uses the orignal extensions like arc menu, dash to panel, just perfection and etc

Windows is failing as an operating system that anyone could use, and with windows 10 soon being out of support I think Zorin OS and Nobara are pretty good operating systems i will switch to in future cause it runs so well and has almost everything i need

Hey I have got the same specs and i play on Windows 10 and I'll tell you to try badlion Lite , i use both clients and get 200Fps on lunar and over 400fps on badlion Lite when optimised

Lunar client is a great client for fps cause I get 60 to 130 fps And my laptop has a core 2 duo It has a intel cheapset and 4gb ram Btw all the settings turned down so do check lunar client out if you have low end devise

Nobara isn't stable in installations, since Gnome is broken obviously, i tried KDE it didn't show at first, then i had to load every efi file just to test load it, one file worked, it's a lot of hassle lmao

Fortunately Minecraft works well in every Linux Distro I have used. Nobara is excellent but I also like POP and Garuda as well standard Fedora. If you are really cool you will use the latest non stable release of Ubuntu that people think is good for some reason and I mean the interface and stuff is cool but the crashing and performance issues..... At least standard Ubuntu works well.

@@Spectrulight Do u have an Nvidia or AMD GPU, if it is AMD them ur options are more open to a less headache endusing experience but what I am about to recommend works fairly well with both. The distro I have had the overall best experience in that works and works well is Garuda Cinnamon, it has a desktop familiar to windows but infinitely more customizable and out of the box has a custom zen based Linux kernel and up to date GPU drivers. Other distros are either unstable on my RTX 4060TI or have packages so out of date that it causes issues. I would also say Nobara 39 official kde is excellent but beware, I tested it today and the update functionality was busted. Both of these distros come with wayland however I would say not to use it until the explicit sink patches drop soon. They r both great but Garuda has an edge in the fact it runs better and out of the box helps the user craft the experience they want not to mention it's gives any standard user the quality of Arch Linux with tons of excellent customizations and without the growing pains of installing an OS from the terminal. Hope this helped and if you have any more questions I'll help any way I can 🙂

ultramarine is also good for beginners if u want pantheon/cutefish/budgie. I love pantheon & budgie, but cutefish is shady
