Konami just banned a deck that didn't let you play the game (floowandereeze + mystic mine), then released Tearlements, then banned that deck because you couldn't play the game and them gave us Kashtira (where you literally can't even play). What is konami thinking?

Locking zones is the stupidest concept without an innate way to unlock that zone. This is the literal meaning of 'zero counterplay', barring exodia on draw

this is why me and the bros play basically fun "themed" decks, as well as games with unique rules (if the group finds something "awfully unbearable" we tend to nip it quick). we also come up with unique game modes to spice things up... my favorite is "sleeping giant" which basically is a 2v2v1... it starts out as a tag team duel, but in the background there is a player whom actually is subtlely conducting their turn at the same time alongside the active player (though can only draw every 2 turns)...this player cannot interact with the others in any other way, and cannot be targeted by the others...it gives them time though to build up and really set their feild unimpeded...the second one player falls, the "sleeping giant" enters the fray against everyone (though often its accepted to focus all attention to "the giant" at this point rather than the team that lost their partner) having their turn take the place of the fallen. it's a bit of a gimmicky game mode...but it has some fun results and moments where players are actively stradegizing focusing not only on working with their partner, and on the opposing team...but nervously also checking on "the giant" whom often is conducting their turn mostly unnoticed at the same time...add in rules like team shared graveyards and fields...and things become hectic quick. it has resulted in some amazing moments, my favorite was playing a deck based around viruses, tribuiting effects, and traps...the second I entered play I effectively wiped the table and crippled everyone because they all failed to act fast enough. it's honesty sucks a lot of the fun out of the game, and actually playing against decks whom have interesting mechanics...especially in modes that might actually have then shine.

This is so true, I’m an original player from the 90s and early 00s. And when I recently downloaded master duel... I was mind blown. The guy went first and 20 minutes later he had the entire field full of 3,000 attack xyz, synchro monsters.... Finally it’s my turn, and I got kuriboh 😑

Yknow, I remember when your ace monster had diverse and interesting effects, like demise king of ruin being a costly board nuke, or earthbound immortals being able to ignore your opponents board effectively forcing your opponents hand; now it's just a pissing contest of who can jam out the most negates. If I wanted to play solitaire, I'd go play solitaire. Konami only cares about one kind of balance, and that's their bank balance.

Bro just played out my whole entire middle school experience god I can still remember no not just remember I can still feel the shock and anger every time I got OTK’d or Card Trapped like this by one of my friends never once had I actually won against one of them except for the times when they gave me a couple of free wins which really stung my pride eighth grade was when I finally just put the deck down now I just collect the cards in my binder…sigh

Imagine if other games like call of duty did this. A new score streak that takes away the other teams weapons, score streaks, ability to melee, and even none lethal stuff like stun grenades. It wouldn't be very fun to be told you can do nothing but either lose or forfeit.

It’s funny because Branded has two in engine cards that can undo Shangri-Ira’s locks: Mirrorjades’ banish and Strike Dragon’s “return 1 monster from the field to the hand”.

As someone returning to Yu-Gi-Oh from like 2005, it's really satisfying to see that Yu-Gi-Oh cards, for the most part, look exactly like the older sets I played with. Obviously, different monsters, spells, traps, etc., but they have maintained the card layout. As opposed to Pokémon, including new styles of cards, and many new attributes to the look of the cards. (Not to say I don't appreciate some solid full arts, but modern Yu-Gi-Oh just hits that nostalgia pockets a lot better).

I remember that one time where I played against a Kashtira mix where he literally blocked every single spell/trap zone and 4 of my 5 monster zones in his first turn. When it was my turn I literally couldn't do ANYTHING. I love this game

There's an easy solution to this: put Shangra-Ira to 1. No deck should be allowed to make activating any card an illegal play, this is EXACTLY why Pole Position Lock was banned.

Sphere mode at 3 is a must this format.

Basically my reaction when I came back

"Hmm. It sure would be a shame if I sphere mode your board, and then use ancient chant soul crossing to bring Ra in at 20k power" Nah, but this is stupid. The fact that only a going second deck could get out of this boardstate is just wild.

And thats why I enjoy a simple RUSH DUEL! I can do x5 matches of that by the time 1 TURN finishes in Speed duel and that is IF you get a 2nd turn. Can't wait for more rush cards to come out!

Been to my first locals two weeks ago with a 202-22 tele dad. That kashtira deck I faced 100% underestimated the ability of that deck

Actually, as a Branded Despia Player, he could've broken the board. Kashtria Shangr-Ira, cannot Block the Extra Monster Zone. He could've actually used branded fusion on his turn. To summon Rindbrumm The Striking Dragon. Causing the Mandatory effect of the Kashtira Arise-Heart to trigger as Chain Link 1, passing over priority back to the branded player. This then allows him to negate, and bounce back a monster. Which he can bounce back the Shang-Ira. Giving back all his zones back, because its effect only lingers while it remains on board.

Ok,you can lock my board and stop me from summoning from my hand but you cant stop my baseball bat from my bag!!

Back when I played (near on 20 years ago) the game work really well because there not as many chained affects. Pretty much all the cards were known to every player. Watching some of this new gen stuff. It surely takes the fun out of the game to sit there for 15 mins while your opponent keeps chaining.

My main is 1 of these 4: stardust, rda, z-arc, or galaxy eyes, but alot of people think these decks are op, i mean fair enough, they are powerful. But too many people do this, i once had my entire hand get discarded, and then they made sure i cant draw, AND the icing on the cake, they locked all my zones. People nowadays think winning is all thats important but fun is really whats important

Played some master duel yesterday and was trying to remember why I stopped playing then went against a Kashtira player who spent 15 minutes playing solitaire then locked almost all of my zones

We could really use a field spell that can pop a card with a discard or something. Field zones are the only uninteractable zones in the game when it comes to stoping it’s use except for 1 card which I can’t remember the name if

Kashtira and Tearalament are hands down the most annoying decks I have played against. And that is coming from someone who fought against Rhongo and Stall decks at locals
