i remember when FOV zoom when aiming down sight was insane the hunters that had only 100HP and only if they survived you could increase their HP and like tier 2 hunters began with 125 it really felt like your hunter was becoming much more powerful the hellhounds were a menace that could really kill you maybe it's my experience but i don't feel in danger anymore with AI more like nuisance something that hasn't change is the axe and hammer you can find in world i believe, and tomahawk trait
I got introduced to hunt by a dear friend of mine who sadly is no longer with us, but I still play this game in order to keep those happy late night memories we had.
When the HS range of the silenced nagant was so short you had to be close to a hive to HS it. When tier 1 hunters started with 100hp instead of 150. When you could take two three slots weapons to the game with quartermaster (there was no two slots weapon). When you had to take Packmule and Frontiersman to open the fourth slot for consummables and tools. When there was only one map and two bosses. When you could choose between different contracts (the menu screen still exists for this but has only one choice). When there was no weapon skin, no hunter skin and some of the basic tier 3 skins where judged OP. When there was no book of weapons (and it was good). When the death scream was totally different (we can hear the old one in your first clip). When you could still see through the eyes of your hunter when you were downed. When a part of the community threatened to leave when Crytek announced the introduction of female hunters (sadly they did not :-/ ). When the animation to swap weapons was so much longer, then was reduced to nothing making the quickswap the only meta, then changed again to what we have today. As you said, almost everything changed.
THanks for the great trip down memory lane :3 You're my favorite Hunt Content Creator! Thanks for all the funny comments, all the clutches and all the tutorials :)
I personally really enjoyed this talkative style of video man! I am a fairly new player so getting to know facts about old Hunt from the OG himself was very entertaining! I'd love more videos like this one for sure.
I began playing hunt in 2018 but only discovered your channel this year through a friends recommendation I wish I'd have known it earlier you have really been helping me getting back into hunt and having some fun!
When i first started i didn't keep the game installed bc even the tutorial was too spooky. Plus being bad makes the game scarier i think. Only started playing when i convinced my friend to get the game, and it still took a bit to get used to playing solo.
I started playing less than a year ago in april 2022 and its so fun to hear about and see what this game started out as, thanks for sticking with this game so people like me can continue to discover how awesome it is!
I only play since 2021, but I can see how the game has come a long way ! Very heartwarming to see you evoke your first hunt memories, hope you have loads of fun on this game for a long time !
I usually don't like shooters by myself (No cs:go or battlefield has ever appealed to me). But when I bought hunt on December 2021,I just fell in love with this game, and now I play it on a regular basis. Hunt introduced me to a lot of good people (discord friends, nice streamers, just game content makers)
Started playing back in 2021 shortly before Lulu was added through a twitch drop. My favorite change is the one where they made the Spider not run around for 30 sec after you deplete his HP so he can find a place to die like a dog finds a place to sleep
Rahta bro, it`ll be nice if you made a video with your most unlucky moments/games. There is oftens bad games and unluck with me ( and everybody else for sure) and if people can see how even best hunt players like you have bad luck I think many people less feel sad after loosing hunt. Thank you for your vids
Not to advertise but a guy named neenoh has a few of those. He's very good as well and I believe he may have played with rachta before but it's been a minute.
No disrespect but Neenoh is on Psychoghost level. Only people which can be compared to rachta is hornet, fronkie, archie and maybe quinx imo. Especially in terms of aim. When I started the game it was a youtuber named IrregularAce I used to watch which had similar playstyle as neenoh. Then you had a guy named appoh who was headshot machine back then. Good old times
Started playing hunt during closed Beta. Probably one of the more veteran players despite not having as many hours on the game as you (damn real life coming in the way xD). I remember when I first played I didnt know how to go into iron sight, and thought there only was croshair in the game. Im both happy and a bit sad to see the way the game has taken. Like anyone else with a passion for something, certain changes might not be for me. The one change I can think about right now is the changes to darksite vision with the bounty, I miss the old 10 seconds you had with it.
i remember joining during the opening days of the steam release. shit was so sweaty back then, explosives could perma kill, fire was the zone control, shotguns worked way too well, and the veterli was the weirdest but best rifle in the game. also night maps were so nice and dark. also absolutely forgot they changed the hunter death sound.
Need a Podcast with Rachta Z & some more veterans talking about old Hunt. With some background gameplay from really old footage. Huuge could be one of the guests.
Sorry I missed this event. I’ve played since early access but recently took a LONG break (launch of third map). Couldn’t stand hunter mode but came back with gunslinger and played a ton. Took a break and now back into it with my son. Great vids!
Funfact: Even health bars got changed( am I wrong or did high tier hunters even have more HP than low tier hunters?) But I am pretty sure back then it was possible to have 2 mega big bars and that was it for some hunters.
I started playing after they released the second map. My favorite change they've done is to the nagant pistols. Before, if you had a dirty pistol, there was dirt on the iron sight, and I hated the recoil, it felt mistimed with the sound. Now they have changed both :D
Hey man, been playing since early march 2018. I remember the good old days ;) No looting hunters, no darksight, only duos. Hunt has come a long way, and I still love it! Love your content and streams/memes, Rachta. Keep up the good work, and congratulations again on making partner
do u miss being able to pick your contract for one of the 2 maps like i do. also i cant remember for the life of me, did you always have to hold f to heal at a world medkits or was it just one tap of f? i wana say it was always a hold but i know when they added looting hunters it was just a tap.
@@pcuser8567 I think you had to hold F at medpacks out on the map. I don't really mind being able to choose targets actually, I really like all the maps :)
I remember the good old days of hunt. We only had Stillwater and hunters were lucky to spawn with 125 hp at max. The veterli was the true budget meta gun. And the Winfield was the spamfeild
I was trying to remember the changes that ghoul went through. I remember a time before it healing you from killing grunts, but I can't for the life of me remember what it was.
This match show exactly why I dont play duos. Most of the time, everybody becomes a bush as soon as they ear a single footstep. Noone comit. The first that moves dies. It's super boring.
I have played for atleast 4-5 years. I remember idd that the Dolch was OP because it was medium ammo. Easier to grab ammo for and the smaller darker blue for the special ammo. It was always a hassle to find a small ammo box, it was either the wrong color or just not findable.
I remember my friend played a lot of Hunt, and I was always interested in it. I bought the game on December 25, 2018. It's crazy how much the game has changed since then, and I remember when Legendary Hunters didn't even exist. I love the game though, definitely the best PVP shooter. I also remember shotguns being extremely powerful at one point.
remember quick swapping and how slow shotgun velo was haha good times unless you were on the receiving end of a sparks uppercut kill in 0.02 seconds lul
Thanks for the great content, as always. Having been here since the first event (which would be... the Skinflint), I have nothing but praise for this game. While others may say it's bad progress, I think they're making good progress towards the future.
At 8:10, RachtaZ accent made it sound like "balance" was actually "bellends," and that gave me a little chuckle. The bellends in Hunt Showdown certainly have not changed. :^)
Shotguns used to deal bleeding damage, winfield had infinite headshot range... graphic settings were only presets like low, medium, high and also motion blur on/off... shoot, Rachta I feel old :x
Very motivational video, that clip from 5 years ago Rachta is unrecognizable. It literally looks like footage of one of my 3 star friends playing hahaha. If Rachta started out that way, then you too can get better!
I don’t care if your videos started being more talkative Rachta, you have a shockingly soothing voice, dunno if it’s the accent but it tickles something in the back of my head. And for my case, I started playing hunt in the tail end of the very first event in the game, the OG Halloween event, primarily because my elder brother convinced me to play(Which is ironic since he doesn’t play anymore and I have over twice his hours in the game) I still remember those early days though, were I couldn’t hit the broadside of a barn, and I was so scared of the bosses I would genuinely refuse to go into boss lair when solo cause I was scared.
I like this kind of talking video. Would be fun to have a little nostalgic series where you talk about the 'good old times'. I play Hunt for 2 years now and never heard about the dolch beeing medium ammo. Also... looking at the old UI screenshot is like: 🥰
Started playing tower ward end of Light the Shadow event. For a few weeks, I heard a lot about the annoying bugs and stats. I couldn’t really tell the bugs. I’ve seen so much change and improve, more than in some other games, but now I can see the little bugs and issues.
I have also played since early access. Remember when they used to update a roadmap on their website? They had promised us a Hunter Outfitter and a Weapons Crafting system. I know by now its probably not in the works anymore, but it could have been such a different game. I preferred the old main menu where you can use middle mouse button to shoot flares in the menu background, the UI felt less cluttered as well. I miss the old quartermaster that allowed me to carry An Avto and a Crown and King at the same time, but I'm glad it was nerfed. Avtomat used to cost 999 Hunt dollars only and you had 15/30 ammo from the get go. It used to shoot only 2 bullets when you tap it and the recoil was far more manageable then now. Most importantly, Trios update really turned the game from just stealth hunting into a full blown "Cowboys Yee Haw gunfights" game, i felt that was really the best update. Used to only have male hunters and no female ones. They changed the death audio because their first changed version sounded like Homer Simpson saying "D'oohh!"
Rachta: I don't think I can use my Decoys to bait a peek Decoys are insanely good since their patch, throw them on wood walls next to your peek you want to bait it will sound like footsteps to the player. I can't recall if they work on muds as well (normal dirt is a no go) Inside compounds or any place that has stone or wood Decoys are extremely powerful, especially when you expect the shotguns holding angle. Regular Decoys are better than Blank Decoys ( Blank Decoys are good for silent instant barrel explosions) Okay, they are useful, but you need more setup with Chaos Bombs but they are very obvious and I recommend Chaos Bolt if you really want to run Blank Decoys. Solo Blank Decoys requires a lot of battle flow sense, so its not obvious to enemies.
If I remember correctly the sparks silencer was pretty bad. Like it had really low damage. Also the hunters voices were different. Didn’t play around that time but I remember hearing some stuff. I started playing on the console release.
im new to hunt and didnt realize for a while that there was even different maps. i wish they actually made them look different instead of using the same assets and just moving stuff around.
So I started playing Hunt in 2018 on the Early Access release. I got up to like 250 hours, then my Steam account got hacked for 100€ worth of cs:go skins. I have not played Hunt again until I rebought it on a new Steam account in January '22. Now, as of February '23, I have a solid 2k hours. I love it. I always loved it. I will always. Anyway there's two major things I'm really sad about. Number one being that I would probably have a good 6-7k hours if my Steam Acc didn't get hacked. and Number 2 being that I really miss taking two 3-slot Weapons almost every single game.
I would like to hear your thoughts on the control schemes. I got the achievement "Debut - Kill your first enemy Hunter" in October 2019, so I guess I got the game in late summer that year. I remember that I bought it because of getting tired with PUBG, Apex, Warzone or whatever Battle Royale was most popular back then and I totally fell in love with the graphics and the overall atmosphere of Hunt Showdown. I tried really hard, but one thing that I really could not wrap my head around was the control scheme back then. To look through the sights of your rifle, you had to both hold the right mouse button (to basically raise the gun to hipfire level) and then the SHIFT key to actually aim down sights. I had the feeling like this was a decision made by the (leading) game designers they simply would not want to let go of because they thought of it as a unique selling point or something. So I abandoned the game for months and randomly gave it another try way later to find out they added the Gunslinger control scheme... Been playing the game almost every evening since then. What do you think, would the community be bigger by now if they had added Gunslinger earlier? I can imagine that it felt too hardcore and made a lot of people leave soon after trying out the game instead of sticking around. All the best and keep making these entertaining videos!
@@RachtaZ That being said - do you have any statistics on the percentile distribution? As in how many people use gunslinger, how many use hunter control scheme?
Man I still get offended when they insta-burn me or my teammates lol Also, I remember there was no gamma setting back then (at least not on Xbox) and the night map was so dark in the compounds and the forest that I had to take the electric lamp with every hunter.
I started playing day1 of early access, but my PC couldnt really handle it very well. The one thing, that was much better back then were the menus. The current menus we have are absolute trash.
i guess what also didnt change is that you spawn. you find boss with clues, kill, banish and extract. thats prolly still the same. (maybe just some balancing tweaks?)
Hunt showdown is definitely one of the games other than maybe tarkov that has significantly changed since it’s inception. New mechanics, tools and weapons, bosses, etc. both games depending on how new or old you are just have a different feel compared to how they used to be. Been playing both games since 2018-2019 ish.
Do you remember if it was somehow possible to throw a fuse in the menu screen so that it would light up the background? My friend keeps saying he saw a very old clip once but never found it.
I feel like I’m crazy, but I swear in the early days I remembered there was some slight momentum to the movement that got removed whenever console versions were added.
Are you sure she used Dauntless on that Frag? She choke bombed her teammate in that area, so it seemed like it might have been choked out. I guess its possible either way. I don't even know, can you hear when someone uses dauntless by a certain sound (other than the explosive not exploding lol). I couldn't tell from game audio or not if that choke had ended. Or maybe he only threw the one to block the stairs. Either way, if it was a Dauntless, great job on his part.
Please tell how optimization changed over the years. I have participated in beta prior to release, I had intel i7 3770 + GTX1080 + 16GB RAM + SSD. It was a beefy system, but I remember that the loading took like 5 minutes, the performance was terrible on anything above the lowest settings. You just stood there in the start of the match while the world loaded around you. The gunplay was terrible too as it was impossible to see anyone on low graphics in those dense bushes. I fell in love with the game but I felt It was above my hardware's league. I just started playing it in 2022. It's awesome with the event and Grounded Pact.
