For new hampshire you have "1 license plate" This is not true, In New Hampshire you must have 2 license plates.

In Indiana they have state specific chains, Good to Go which is a gas station, and Pizza King

They definitely aren't most of the time. I-90 is over 3,000 miles long and goes from Seattle to Boston

Wow I didn't know that was a regional chain lol, seen it around so much. I believe Kwik star has also started operations in IL so unfortunately I can't add either to the map. Great to know as a regional chain though!

@@ChicagoGeographer Yep just checked and there’s like 2 kwik stars in IL. Didn’t know that, they must have opened recently.

​@ChicagoGeographer I am way late on this and realize that you have other priorities at the moment, but there are H-E-Bs across NE Mexico, too, going as far south as Santiago de Querétaro. At least for now, in the US, they are limited to Texas.

There's a Buc-ee's in Leeds, AL and one in the Florida Panhandle. Either way, the larger Buc-ee's have the city they're in, and the smaller ones are only in and around the Fort Jackson area.

Yeah since there are already locations in other states I can't include it, good to know as a regional chain though!

The square state-route signs WV has are also a Connecticut thing so that would be confusing unless you knew geography and other roads in the area (77 in West Virginia and 95 in Connecticut)

Sure, but there are plenty of places along interstates where all you can see is the interstate number. Knowing the state specific ones can be very useful for no moving games or the 50 state speedrun, for example

@@ChicagoGeographer fair enough, plus getting a sign for e.g. Springfield won't help you a bit when doing state streaks lol Eventually I'll learn the interstates, just need to learn the license plates and highway signs first!

@@PaulPiraat well a lot of Springfields have interstates through them, such as 55 in Illinois, 44 in Missouri, and 91 in Massachusetts. You just gotta know which is which

@@ChicagoGeographer ...but in Geoguessr, you're not likely to land on a state-specific Interstate. It would be way, way more effective to just learn that S-N interstates are odd-numbered, W-E ones are even numbered, and they count from west coast to east coast, south to north. Also, US-routes follow the same odd vs. even rule but start on opposite coasts so that they rarely confuse. This is all easy to remember just by remembering one sentence, such as "I-95 and US Route 1 run down the east coast" or "I-5 and US-99 run through Seattle." You can very easily find an interstate on a map once you have a vague idea whereabout in the country it should run, and if you're seeing an intersection with another highway, you'll be able to find where you are within a minute. The state highway shields are immensely useful though. Many of them are really obvious - shaped like the state itself, unique shapes, etc. Also, definitely recommend learning where the top 15 or so major cities are as almost every highway mentions one as a distant exit and includes a mileage.

@@ErdTirdMans The point of the map isn't to just show the most common things, it's meant to be comprehensive and cover all specific signage, license plates, businesses, etc. Sure, it's not very likely to end up on the spur/auxiliary interstates, but if you're playing a moving urban round you may very well come across one as the first meaningful clue. In any case, memorized or not, they're state-specific and could be useful.

There are Valero gas stations in places other than California

There might be about 2 locations each in Iowa, Kansas, and Colorado, but the other roughly 80 locations are in Nebraska

Unfortunately there are a few of those in Nevada, Guam, and the Northern Mariana Islands too. I appreciate the suggestion though!

@@ChicagoGeographer Wow TIL. I just looked it up and they have a couple in Guam too. How about the Virginia ABC stores? They are the state run liquor stores and they're everywhere.

@@ChicagoGeographer understand, too bad. only other thing i can point out right now are "nene crossing" signs in hawaii, maybe there are other state-specific animals too, and farm roads in texas. dunno about state-specific county road signs, or maybe minnesota only legislative/constitunional roads. cheers ps: how on earth did you get a gold medal in greenland lol

It's also found across several other Midwest and Southeast states unfortunately, but it is very common in Wisconsin!
