Playing one of the Best PS2 Madden Games in 2022 (Future Series Potential?) 

Back when EA cared about making a good game because they couldn’t sell an incomplete game on a disc and patch it later. And they also couldn’t make infinite money selling MUT packs. The game had to be good on its own.

I would watch a franchise on this game.

this was my introduction to madden as a kid, so much nostalga. i would totally be down for a series of this.

When I was a kid, I'd stay up waiting for my parents to go to sleep and then sneak downstairs to play Madden 04 and 08. In the morning I'd be totally exhausted and basically hallucinating the instant replay controls, but it was worth it.

I've been playing NCAA 07 and Madden 07 recently. Creating your own team is great and inserting that team into the league (I always choose the worst team) and building them up with the new look, new city and stadium that you can name. Madden 2005 had an extremely extensive scouting process. I remember having notebooks full of draft prep notes 😆

In case you don't know, NCAA '08 worked with this game to where you could play a player in college and have him show up in the draft in Madden '08. If you're going to create a team, it would be cool to see you create a player that becomes a superstar on your team....[[|:-)

I went and got a ps2 and madden 08 and 07 a year ago just to replay these great games like 07 a bit more with Bruno but 08 is fun

Ah yes, Madden 08. Back when a QB and a HB could both run a 4.38 in the 40 and the QB ends up with 89 speed and the HB with 99 because... reasons

This was my legit first Madden game. I still have it on the gamecube down in my basement. I'm 32 now but 18 year old me played the shit out of this game in my freshmen year at university. This games great.

Best way to get scouting reports is using the players in drills, as for attributes go play the College All-Star game, when you play Defense and you get like a lot of tackles or make plays it unlocks some attributes as for Offense if you score or maybe big plays you’ll be given some attributes to that player as well; if I recall correctly, I’ve been playing my Madden 11 franchise on PS2 with the Bengals and sheesh I’m like 8 year into my franchise I’m like 6 deep at CB with DBs all around 99-92 overall attributes and had to start trading some of my CBs away for draft picks & position of need..also it really depends on your coaching staff too; my coaching staff is like top tier so I’m able to simply just develop draft picks and trade them once I’m gonna draft a new CB, also my coaching staff is the highest paid coaching staff along with highest paid medical team..the assets you get at the end of the season goes into your Stadium/coaches/medical team, I believe some of it also go into contracts; with the signing bonus and what not; imma need to run and look at my franchise again..also I started a Vikings franchise in where I signed Aaron Rodgers in FA because the Packers picked Favre over him and once Favre retired they drafted a 1st Round QB and Rodgers was a “Bust” so I signed him on the low 5 year-15million deal then went to signed Randy Moss, Traded for DeSean Jackson & signed Calvin Johnson & have Percy Harvin as my 4th WR and AP as my RB

So many memories on this game. I had it on PC, one of the few pc games I owned, and played the hell out of it for years. It’s even responsible for curating many of my music tastes lol

The weirdest thing to look back and see in these PS2 maddens is how highly regarded Jake Delhomme was. Kinda crazy considering how his career ended

PS2 Madden 08 is the best football game ever made imo. Still revisit it every once in a while

I played Madden 10 for years, actually I still have it and it is my go to Madden on my old PS2.

Madden 08 is arguably the best Madden for the PS2 but I personally like Madden 09 the most for the PS2. They added a couple more catch and broken tackle animations before they stopped adding gameplay features for the PS2 Maddens. Also they added supersim. So honestly and truthfully I think Madden 09 would be better for a series just with those add ons to the game.

This is my favorite madden all time!! Please do a series with this game, i will watch every episode and i hope others will too.

YES! In my eyes, the last great Madden (at least for me staying behind on the PS2 until about 2013). Bought the Prima guide for this game as a kid for some reason, but I loved reading every detail in it. Would definitely enjoy a series here

If you do make a series out of this, be sure to check out the Madden 08 NEXT mod which is made by the same developers of the NCAA 06 NEXT mod. Could breath some new life into the game if you wish to do so.

I played this as early as last year. I went like 10 seasons into a Franchise. It's so good still

Also Madden 20 was your best Franchise series imo! I went back to watch some of it again and also went back to Madden 20 with slider and settings adjusted gameplay to make it not as buggy. The gameplay turns out to be really fun especially running with the football

I remember doing a superstar mode in this game I believe (if not this game, then close to it). QB for the Jets, and had a fun game against the Patriots where we had to go 80 yards to get the game winning TD

I have the same memory cage as you do cane. I'm so checked out on who's on who's NFL team right now but you bet your butt I could run down 08-09 team rosters like I was there. When you can remember the 4 th string wr on teams but couldn't name one on that same team you know where your heads at. Good Madden game help you remember those players and it excites you to wanna watch the real thing on Sundays. Back in the day I could watch game after game but now it's just not as enjoyable. I can honestly say iv watched one full NFL game in like the last 5 years. having a crappy Madden the past like 4 years will do that to a person.

i know for a fact that the NFL told EA to take the varied crowds out...as well as certain injury types cough concussions cough helmet pops and other such things it's part of the reason the NFL games have never really had genuine expansion drafts except for 02 with the texans

Madden '08 is the second best Madden ever behind '05 IMHO.

If you do decide to make this a franchise I would love to see all the channel legends on your team but with their rookie overalls and see if the legends can take you to a Super Bowl

I still play this Madden on PC with mods and updated rosters. My fav Madden.

I remember the Austin Venom when MrHurriicane did a good madden, absorbing Washington's history from back when they still went by the Redskins, a name they no longer use now.

Cane you can do a series on this for sure. But you have to play the all star game every year and then try not to draft a running back

in case you don't know cane, you can make a 32mb memory card in the emulator options. that way you won't need to worry about any issues with card space

Its my biggest wish in life that ps5 had backwards compatibility or just added a few retro maddens or even nfl street they dont even have to remaster it or nothing just make it avaliable to play on ps5

So...on PC there's or used to be, the MadMod X guys, who updated Madden 08 and had current rosters. I dunno if it'd work for you Cane, but to me that'd be a good start or a series. The Madden 08 PC port was, essentially, the PS2 version without some of the features. Still an awesome game though, I put many hours into Superstar mode, it was good, it was fleshed out. Franchise was also good, even if there was a nasty (at least on my system) bug crashing it when I checked the in game paper. I'm not sure if Madden 08's on Origin still, that's how I got my copy and the original Head Coach back in the day, (another underrated game that without much of the bugginess of 09 too)

U can save audibles on madden 23 if you save the playbook.. so choose go to playbooks.. choose a playbook.. save it. Then go into it change the audibles, then save it.. then load that playbook in advanced settings before the game

This is a game I think you could definitely get a great Superstar or retro franchise series

Literally only play original Xbox madden 05 and 07 these days. Those were my prime madden days in high school.

I cant wait for an '08 series. I know he read the player roles (the gold icons) but I'm sure he doesn't know about the roles dat can change ("QB of the future", "game manager", "kick return specialist", etc.) I was hoping he click on Dilfer and read the role but theres always next time.

I still play this every other year on Xbox. I “overplayed” this for almost a decade before I upgraded to the new PlayStation consoles. This game is still too good.

Here's an idea: 32 custom-made cupcake teams made in create-a-team. Simulate 10 years into the future and start there in your own, completely fictional NFL universe

Well NFL teams are businesses and businesses tend to still use email so it'd still make sense tbh. Maybe texting could be for player communication and email could be used for staff

Not sure if you're interested Cane, but the modding community created a mod called "madden 08 next" with updated rosters, uniforms, etc

Madden 25 was pretty good. Especially since you could upload the draft class from NCAA 14

Madden 11 was very good about having fans not show up or leave early when the team was bad.

Madden 08, by far the best. I made a franchise and kept on it for a long time. I had that franchise go on for well passed 10 years in game. Won 6 Super Bowls, and had at least 12 Hall of Famers.

Funny enough the PC version of Madden 08 (completely identical in terms of graphics and gameplay) has a DEDICATED fan mod community that includes modern day rosters, updated uniforms, arenas, contracts and even modern day rules that weren't around for this game. I believe it's the Football Idiot forums if I remember correctly but 08 would be cool to see a series of as well as 2K5.

I love these videos. But they're so bittersweet. These games were super arcade..full of glitches and CHEESE lol but the content...game modes... Top tier... So much to do! Immersive and visceral

please look into NCAA 06 NEXT and Madden 08 NEXT. it's like a college football revamped/NFL 2k23 mod for these games. one of the features of the mod is allowing NCAA06 draft classes to be used with Madden 08, so you can essentially use updated rosters and do a double series.

Add in ncaa 08 and I'm in Hella memories

I know you were checking out EA Sports Arena Football (I think it was Road to Glory). I know in the 1st game the Minnesota Fighting Pike were an unlockable team, not sure about the 2nd game... just food for thought

One thing I haven’t been able to find out is if it’s only cloud franchises or both cloud and offline? I mainly play offline so this would help out and I haven’t bought 23 yet
