Playing the BEST tanks of Japan in World of Tanks! 

In 1943, Japan bought several specimens of German tank designs for study. A single Tiger I was apparently purchased, along with a Panther and two Panzer IIIs, but only the Panzer IIIs were actually delivered. The undelivered Tiger was loaned to the German Wehrmacht by the Japanese government. [wiki]

QB is definitely not a Chi-Ri connoisseur, it is an acquired taste.

Remember the old O-I Exp.? A tier 5 heavy with 300 alpha damage and it went at 40 km/h. It was basically a KV-5 at tier 5.

Chi-ri is actually pretty good and balanced. I absolutely loved it en played really well.

QB: While trade between Japan and Germany existed called, Yanagi Trade, for spare parts, war equipment plans, manufacturing licensing with technical manuals and supplies, no Tiger Tank was shipped to the Japanese mainland. The 4 Henschel Panzer III & IVs were packed and crated up ready for shipment from France and then D-Day happened on June 6th and the Germans reacquired their Tanks. These manuals however did inspire the Japanese Type 5 Chi-Ri.

When the FV4005 disappear, actually, you aiming at point far behind it, that make shell trajectory change to the one that higher than when you aiming at FV4005. The lower the shell velocity, the higher the shell go. There is a mod that fix the distance of aiming point to prevent the change in aiming, Ballistic Calculator (BalCalc), it is very useful for derp gun.

I really appreciate you sharing your pain and misery in the realistically horrible circumstances you experienced in those battles while playing the best of Japan’s tank’s because I absolutely related to every single one of them. Thanks again for sharing those experiences.

Why yes, in 1943, Japan managed to purchase 4 Tiger I tanks from Germany as well as the technical documentation about them. This was to study how to build and field heavy tanks against the US and Brits in the turning Pacific War. (Heavy tanks would probably have been useless for island battles because of the mud, mountains and lack of adequate roads) Japanese representatives in Germany only received one Tiger I but never found a way to deliver it to Japan because of heavy enemy naval activity. It was eventually destroyed by the Allies while at port, having never made it to Japan.

Ah ! Finally a video that shows what kind of games I use to play. Sometimes not bad (O-I game), most of the time bad (rest of the games), and globally disgusting bcause of OP premiums, premium consumables etc... I'm starting having good crews and now I see how it feels to fully control a tank and use the skills. That CS-63 did the right thing not commiting, he would have being destroyed in the first 20 seconds if he got there alone.

In the chi ri game I'd have pulled back, when higher tiers sit back and expect lower tiers to "do or die" I just leave that flank, I'm not dying because they don't want to get their paint scratched.

That IS-3a on your team in the chi-ri game had me fuming

We need a Japanese tech tree with proper ramming capable tanks, would fit their real life doctrine very well.

I just grinded through the Chi-Ri and kept it in the garage. I like it!

Finally a contributor that live a complete normal player experience... Where die in worst way and other guy hit you from other side of the map but u miss tank at 20 meter...

type 61 is the sweet spot, no armor but the steady response of the gun makes it a very nice support flanking vehicle.

Bad map for the Chi-Ri but I personally loved playing the tank when I went up that line.

I'd love a series that focused on the worst tanks of each nation and how you can make the most of them, I also remember when I had 14.03 sec reload on my O-Ho with the derp, it was the perfect tank to counter hulldown tanks.

Everything about the Chi-Ri just screams that it is bad but I actually found grinding it actually pretty enjoyable

I initially wanted to grind an STB-1 from tier III. Saw the tech tree and changed my mind. Went with the Swedish MT line.

Japan actually paid 645,000 rhienmarks in 1943, but the tank never reached Japan. It was sent to Western front after Normandy landings.

This video just perfectly sums up most days in WoT for me. Its good to know I'm not the only one that knows this kind of suffering. Currently got the Chi-Nu and about 7k XP away from unlocking the Chi-To, so plenty of pain to endure before I get to enjoy the STB-1.

I already three marked and 6 skilled the crew on my HT No. 6. I love that tank, I make decent credits, have a decent armor as long as I side scrape like how you'll do with the Tiger I, and a pretty dependable gun with good accuracy and a good aim time. And yeah, I have a full female crew on the tank. Though i'll admit, it's not as competitive as before after all of the new premium tanks appeared on the game

“Keep Calm, and Quicky On” was what I thought when you said “keep calm” during that stb1 game.

I have noticed that for some reason, not too many people realize what happened with the HE shell to the FV4005. Basically once he got unspotted, the reticle switched to aiming at the target which was in it's center. It was probably some grass on the other side of the map. In order to loop the shell there, the arc of the shell had to be adjusted.

2:11 the panzer 4 h just got shunted by the ARL 44 and spun around 😂😂😂

O-I and O-NI are definitely among my favorite tanks. Some of my best games are in these tanks. I use both with the smaller AP gun, 175mm standard pen with 300 alpha is actually really nice at tier 6 (while the derp struggles to pen even yourself), and its armor can sometimes surprise even tier 7 heavies. Also the fact that you get the 105mm gun as stock probably contributes to the relatively high win rate of the tank, since you don't need to struggle with subpar guns. I was also doing surprisingly well with Chi-Ri when I grinded through it and enjoying more so than the STA-1, even tho I was first dreading it. Tho that might be more about the state of tier 8 with all the premium spam, whereas with Chi-Ri I didn't always have to face OP premiums.

WG should put a second ramp on the eastern part of the hill on Mines. It would really change the whole dynamic of the map.

Chi-Ri is very viable if you play it correctly. it is an ambush predator and you played it in a hulldown position trying to trade with it. Play it like your Progetto 46 not your Iron Arnie.

Now that you did a video on the O-I, could you do one on the O-I exp? In the start of the video you can see it has the best winrate but you filtered it so only tier 6 and above tanks are visible.

This was me the last 2 days, I had 1 decent matchup every 4-5 games, and I would get team clapped or my team would do a team clap on that one good matchup, WoT is pain some days

I really appreciate these videos. It happens so often to me that my team dont commit to take the hill at Mines. I sold my Tiger6 cause it got 80% of the time tier 8 matches where its just a tragic sniper with bad camo.

Yes, QB, you are correct that Japan is getting new tech trees. It will be a new heavy line and a new TD line as well. WG's rendition of the new heavy from their video looks like it will be more of an MBT focus tank from the late 60s to mid-70s. I'm very interested in their TD line, because the tank they showed on the video for that looked like the Ho-Ri. It looks similar to a Ferdinand in the game, but might be higher tiered and with a larger gun. I played the Ho-Ri a lot in the strat. game called R.U.S.E. The thing was an absolute monster when paired with supporting tanks. Looking forward to the new lines.

I recently watched the video where he first talked about turbo equipment. And he said well maybe on some of the slowest tanks. Now he practically has it on all lol. Does fit the name.

Mines on the south side sucks for rushing the hill, and it feels like if you’re in a slower tank the only viable position becomes C9

I remember war gaming had a mission that granted you choose any tier 6 of your choice along with 30k free xp and we all agreed on the O-I man those were a fun few weeks. This was before the current HE nerf man it was fun

I like the Japanese mediums myself. But they can be challenging at times. Grinding to the STB1. Right now I have the Type 61. But I have also experienced the frustration days with my Jap tanks

Well what else do you expect from the Chi-ri, it's a sniper MT. All it can do is to provide fire support from the second line. Sometimes you just have to be a backup for the allies.

Japanese tanks are the worst grinds, BUT you tend to get SOME damage each round. My weakness has always been charging in too fast. The tier 10 Type 5 Heavy should just PERCH on that bridge. BE THE TRAIN GUN!!!

The hole stb 1 line is pretty underrated

Don't throw shade at the Chi-Ri QB, it's a good tier VII. The size fools you in playing it like a heavy, but it's definetly an opportunity medium as all autoloaders. When you can't dump your magazine, put one in, fall back. You can always reload all 3 shells since the time for it is pretty low. That's the only trick about it, play it like a single shot unless you're able to dump all rounds in. Not sure how to explain it better.

cs63 didnt commit and we lost the battle ah yes he totally wouldnt get clipped within 7 seconds by bc and tvp and wouldnt died either way

The Chi-Ri combines the gun and armour of a light tank with the speed and size of a heavy tank

The next japanese tech tree that is probably coming already exists in wot blitz and it are probabaly 1 heavy line and 1 td line which in blitz the heavy tanks are really good and the td's not all to bad. Soo.. hopefully a better future for the japanese tech tree in wot as well ;) Fun video btw, had a good time watching this keep on tanking quicky ;)

Don't know about overseas, but WG used to have a big booth at the Tokyo Game Show. Once they put an O-I on display and had models (the girl ones) on it. There was a horde of photographers camped in front of them all day.

QB, in the first game "the T67 named silentindu25" is a specific French nickname. You can translate it in a way of "silentin of 25", 25 is a department ^^

The Heavy Tank VI is actually surprisingly good. I have one of my best win rates on that tank.

Chi-Ri is one of those tanks I either do really bad or really REALLY good. Never in between.

Personally, I found the upgraded gun without the autoloader a more viable option for the better DPM. People always expect the autoloader, so they wait for you to fire all three then dump you during the reload. The gun is the same with better DPM and turret dispersion. You put out a whopping 17 rounds a minute stock, upped with a gun rammer, BIA, food, and vents, you reach staggering 21 rounds a minute which is perfect for permatracks. Chip away 130 damage every 2.8 seconds meaning 2.7K DPM.

If i remember correctly the tier X tank from the destroyers line is gonna be the Ho-Ri with 600 alpha on ap I know this bc the same tech tree line is in WoT blitz They already took the Yoh family from there and they also added some tanks from Wot into blitz

A hidden gem in wot is the Ke-Ho. Sneaky light with a great gun.

Chi ri is awesome and probably one of the funnest tanks in the game.

Quicky, you should do a revisit on the Tog-II. How has it held up?

That play on the Mines, tho.. i think it would be better if the meds were going to the lighthouse and snipe from there..

If you don't take the hill on mines... Go the lighthouse route. Your campers on the J-line will keep the cappers at bay.

To think thay WG still doesnt add a single Japanese tank destroyer even at this time ?! They could even use the vehicle model of Japanese tank destroyers or even heavy tanks from blitz and make it a altenative heavy tank branch. The HTs from Blitz are very different to the PC version.

Just gold that you couldn't even throw your Type 5 Heavy off a bridge.

The only thing Wargaming is interested in is in your money. Decent gameplay WAS possible in the early days, but nowadays is it possible to get the highest tiers relatively simple. Which means a lot of non-skilled tankers running around not knowing what to do. Winning is a worse than flipping a coin.

Im working on the Japan Tech Tree. Im working on the heavys and have the O-HO its true it is a very hard line to go through next im doing the mediums. The Senshi is pretty good Japanese Medium.

Chi-ri is actually pretty decent. That gun is fun whenever you can pen people, and the lack of speed and armor could be mitigated if the gun is good. My problem is that it has awful pen even in gold round, and since it doesn't really have the speed to flank around it's a very tricky tank to utilize well (especially when you meet tier 8/9). WG should just give the tank an actual HEAT round and change the current gold AP to standard AP. That wouldn't make it OP at all, but it would be a fun challenge to master and is a much less situational tank to use.

One shotting another tank with a derp gun never goes old..

The new Japanese heavy line will have basically a heavy stb1 with slightly more alpha but lower dpm

If you go on to wot blitz there is already some japaneesee tds and they are like a jagdpanzer e100 but with some changes
