Top water can be weird. I’ve used these with plenty good but haven’t in years. This year it’s my number 1 but last few years be number 10 and in popper category

Thanks Jay, I think the hook up ratio was even better then a single rear and in shallow water where the strike is often from behind. Thats plain old mono 50lb drop it on a filler spool and go.

@@FishYourWay Thanks for the info. I`ve got 50 lbs. mono for weed guards for my streamers, I tie the mono in as a loop at the eye then pinch the loop end and after tying the rest of the streamer I just loop the line under the barb and all`s good. Peace and brother love to you and all.

Do you have any idea for a removable weedguard for a fly that will not drastically alter its action or weight? Something you can take on and off

@@FishYourWay I was trying to think of something as I was writing the last comment and as I read this one of yours an idea popped into mind. If you cut a 1/4" piece of aquarium tubing and threaded 50 lbs. test cross ways through it maybe 1-1/2 to 2" it might do the trick, you could add more mono if needed. You could use a stopper if you needed distance between the streamer, mouse or frog, but I think the streamer would be the only one affected if at all with the guard against the eye. Hope my idea works for you, if not, back to the drawing board.

Hell yea, just make sure your drag is set no more then 5lbs 1/3 the break strength. Make sure all your guides are perfect. Drag changes as line plays out, don't horse the fish, use the rod. You can get more or less drag by changing the angle of your rod tip. The lower you hold your rod the drag will loosen, higher it gets the tighter the drag. Use a good 50lb leader 3ft or so to grab. If you grab your mainline, the line will snap. The thin braids are fun and very doable but I find they wear quick via the volume of fishing I do.
