Like all your videos, clear and inspiring! Thanks for this. I find that the chocalho is the loudest samba instrument to play and my ears ring immediately unless I wear ear protection.

@NRHarris They use both names for this instrument, but most of the time when the jingles are inside the metal frame, they call it chocalho. When the jingles are at the outside and in the middle is a wooden or metal bar, they call it rocar.

Exactly ! In Brasil, we call this chocalho a "rocar". There are several versions of this instrument, the one played on the video is made of aluminum by Contemporanea, model 437C. There are some wooden rocars, very light and responsive.
