I really miss the old ELC AMX with the 90 mm gun and better mobility. Driving next to a Soviet heavy tank usually meant that they couldn't even shoot you back because you were so low to the ground.

Stug is popular cause it's fairly good for a free to play player. Its gun has very good accuracy and good penetration, so it's a good choice for someone who doesn't spam gold. Which is something QB didn't take into account

The StuG III is probably popular simply due to how (in)famous it is.

KV-1 always has a soft spot in my heart. Back in 2013, learning how to angle against T1 Heavies and Churchills

i remember that the stug use to be pretty good before the massive td nerf about 10 or so years ago. was super mobile, fast firing gun and view ranges weren't nerfed for low tiers.

Come on QB STUG ammo was actually increased during the great rework. Also: you do not choose the STUG-Life, the STUG-Life chooses you! :)

The success of the StuG during war made swedish engeneers thinking Strv S1 is a great idea. StuG was the most produced german tank during the war and results in a large fan base in Germany.

The funny 'konisch' gun has a secret, the 75mm shell had a special projectile wich had its diameter reduced (by the barrel) while travelling down barrel. This saved volume behind the projectile while also saving pressure and providing enormous muzzle velocity for such small caliber. It's still an idea most smoothbore designers go after...

10 years ago when I started playing world of tanks I LOVED my stug. The combination of good mobility, fast-firing snappy gun, low profile made it very easy to love. Secondly, as far as I remember, back then this tank used to have decent armor since people ignored an option to shoot gold. It was also my first ever mark on any tank in the game :)

i quite like the stug everything except the view range and ammo capacity is pretty good

StuG III was my first crush in WoT 10 years ago, love the mobility, accuracy, RoF and camo. It's a fantastic fun tank only drags down by low ammo capacity (use them well) and the famous motor destroyed when you take a shot in the transmission just behind the lower plate. I think your game sums up what's awesome about the vehicle !

Yes it was like that i remember VK3601H with Konish ripping apart IS4(t9 one) its ROF was insane and accuracy as well and DMG as well. dont know if i have any vids(replays) left but i do remember me and 2 friends ripping apart enemy teams15 kills for the 3 of us wasnt that odd. Back when you could get ammo on discount(yes gold amom was on 50% off as well) you could get Konish gold rounds for 1 gold a per round normaly it was 3 gold :D i made a bank when they rebalanced that one of my friends was lauging since he got 90k gold from konish rounds :D

The Stug is popular because it has a really accurate 75mm gun (the PaK 42). It is also good free to play, you don't need to spam a lot of gold to do damage. And, it is also low profile, so it's kinda sneaky especially in maps like Studianki where there are buildings on one side and hills on the other. Also, this tank is also good for base defense since it is really sneaky and has a good rate of fire. It doesn't need to be like a Hetzer or Sav 72 that has the derp. Just hold your line, move positions around the base, then shoot any stragglers with low hp from afar.

I miss the low tier OP tanks. The T18, AT2, Grille, etc. I didn't use them often, but the were nice for a change of pace. It felt great if you managed to kill them too.

Hi QuickyBaby and chat - average StuG IIIG player here - I honestly don't know why I play it either but I just 3-marked it after being inspired by your game in this video ....LOL! Its got terrible reverse speed, engine breaks all the time, gets doubled tracked as well BUUTTTT....... I've got my camo up to 55% and my view range up to 455m with binocs, exhaust, vents and a good crew, so its sneaky and I've set some great scouting score on Malinovka etc. .... I had to spam a bit of gold and use chocolate to get the last mark but worth it haha! I do like my tier 8's an 9 (especially my lovely Tortoise) but with the low player numbers and high ping on the Asian servers I find myself coming back to an old Tier 5 favourite and now its got an extra bunch of rings on the Barrell (9-marked actually XD).

I love the Stug3G!!! Great t5 sniper with good concealment. I have the 3B, 3G, and the Stug4. The 4 lacks the benefit of the L70 gun though.

Stug 3G is my fave tank. Just stay at a safe distance behind the front and SMACK anything that gets lit.

My highest played is in the old version of the KV2, and it was almost always derp gun for me, that HE was op as hell

AMX ELC bis 90mm for life! Also a great well deserved reward would be a prenerf ELC at tier 6 of course with the 90mm. I do miss the power but still play it every night at least once

Great one, I just want to see some strange like a camo builds... Udes 03 is great, but really, turbo is a must have on that.

I do rather well in the StuG III G, It's not doing anything amazing or bad, it gets the job done if you know how to use it and that's all it really needs to do.

I love stug iii! It's so popular because: - german TDs are generally popular - it has good combination of things: good dpm, good penetration, good mobility, very good gun handling, good camo. The only bad thing is view range. - it's one of the best standard non premium credit makers in the game

One reason that comes to mind why so many plays the STUG III, is because of the Girls und Panzer anime, as the STUG was one of the main tanks in that anime, so it most likely got a lot of popularity from there as well. I know it's my own reason for playing the STUG.

I had 640 battle in Stug (although I never touched that tank anymore since like 8 years). There are some stuffs where Stug is actually good: - It has THE best gun of tier 5 TD for combined accuracy/dispersion, with pretty good pen as well. The only gun that rival this tank is the flakbus, but that one has a terrible platform. It apparently has shitty DPM though, although I didn't realize it at that time. - It has cheek that bounce any 90mm below shots if you use your gundep a little bit. Also decent mantlet. - Decent mobility, awesome traverse speed, pretty good camo. Bad view range -- yes, but it's still usable and isn't SU-85 tier bad. It's basically a classic TD, reliable gun with camo and a little bit of armor. Not sure why it's #1 in popularity, but it's true that it's a classic TD that is easy to play and back then it was just a comfy tank (my playstyle has been waaay way more aggresive now so I don't play that kind of gameplay anymore, but pretty sure some people still like it)

Stug has pretty poor viewrange, but on tier 5 its pretty much standard. Even some light tanks got just 360 on tier 6, which is terrible considering almost all higher tiers will outrange you. Thats sadly treshold for tier 5-6s in matchmaking, since tier 7-8s average viewrange jumps up to 370-380. But if you look at tier 5s, its all in 340-360 range, so Stug isnt that big disadvantage on its own tier. Has good camo, 75mm has good dpm and mobility isnt that bad either. Its jack of all trades pretty much. You can snipe, but you can also support your team by flanking and using your dpm. But with so low hp, you cant really take big risks.

The KV-1 used to be so much fun. Now the base ammo does minimal damage for most hits

I 3 marked my ELC with the mid gun. Was great because people didn't expect it to be fully traversable.

Hi QuickyBaby, I can tell you why the stug III G is popular. Before the stug most people had the hetzer wich i used to like until they made the derp gun Less 1 hit kill. But in the past we found that the Stug III G was ofcourse faster then hetzer while also having that 105 mm derp gun. It was for both tanks for allot of people the 1 hitt kill. But not anymore and thats a bummer because it was fun, whether you had the hetzer or stug with the derp 105 mm.

Love the gun on the VK3001H, got my first top gun using it the other day. But the armor is not something to rely on and my god is it slow!

I know why people just 'hate' the LeF... Before it was nerfed to oblivion, it had huge advantages in view range, DPM, splash, and penetration.

Stugs amazing, great cammo, great rate of fire, great accuracy, and decent mobility there's not much to hate especially when you have a good crew.

@17:53 They definitely have the 90mm gun, as indicated by the big muzzle brake. StuG was kinda surprising to see at the top. I would've thought that T67, or Wolverine were more popular, but I guess StuG is pretty iconic TD, compared to the others at that tier and while maybe not the best, is still decent enough.

Pretty sure the alpha for the Konish has always been 135 even on the premium rounds, Its always been an excellent gun though. It was more or less an improved version of the L70 gun you see on all the other German mediums at tier 6 and even 7 like the Panther M10. Better pen, better shell velocity, same alpha and no HE rounds. I always wanted this gun as an option on a few other vehicles. It was also on the A.Panther light at least back in the day. I would also on occasion use it on the VK 3601 instead of the 88.

I still love to play with my KV-1. Brings back old good times.

The Stug is fantastic at Tier 5. It has a great camo rating and the gun is one of the best at tier 5.

The StugIIIG is pretty good, I think. But the same tier reward tank StugIV is truly difficult to be effective with.

I have my only Kolobanov's in the AMX ELC, with a 90% crew and the middle gun :P

Remember when the last surviving Arty/ Arties of a team had the potential to win, especially if the enemy kindly approached one at a time? XD

A couple of years ago new players were given some gold, credits and a Stug III as a welcome package. I'm not sure when it started or when it ended (if it did), but I'm sure this is where lots of the Stugs came from.

Hey, nice video QB... to rare are the mid and low tier games in wot on yt. The KV-1 and AMX ELCbis are no surprise for most played in their class as techtree tank goes. The VK30.01H, maybe it has some profit o the Leopard being top of the tree, i would have expected to see T-34 or even Pz4h. The Stug i can follow somehow as for the us TD with turret... why go for techtree when there is the same as premium unless you just grind through - and even grind is not that hard as most modules can being taken over from T1 or M4. For TD without turret the SU-85 might come close so maybe the gap isn't big in number of games?

The Stug III is the last remnants of the old Pz4 with the schalturm and sniper gun. It shoots needles but it's accurate as can be and pretty nippy

QB I know you don’t generally play low tiers but can you please talk about tiers III & IV best tanks for newer players or best tanks to really learn in please? Love the game and would love to learn some of the finer points in the game so I’m not useless the higher I go in tiers much love either way

I remember really liking my StuG III G when I was playing tier 5s a lot. But then I guess you could say I liked all of the tanks (almost).

the elc you just drove up close, hugged the enemy tank and they could not do anything, you were too low for them to shoot you, so you just stood there and shoot them until they exploded and then moved to next one and did the same

I love the Stug III, the view range is crap, but the gun is amazing for its tier, it can turn very fast, good cammo

I am fairly certain that the "konisch" gun was only on the t6 medium (at the time) VK3601. It had 225 mm of pen and did 400 dmg. And back then, it had to be purchased with gold. I loved that gun til it got removed from that tank. I used to damage KV-5s like crazy with that pen.

That was some good baiting. I would go as far as to say you might be a master at it.

The Stug G and the Panzer 4 H were my first tier 5s, back in the days when you could get to both via the 38t line. As such I first learned how to play TDs from the Hetzer, and the Stug had better pen, better DPM, better view range, and better mobility than the Hetzer. I have just shy of 500 battles in it with a 52% win rate, 3 MoE and 998 WN8. Granted I've not played it in years, so I've no idea how it is faring in today's meta or any insight as to why or not it would be popular.

I do quite well in the Stug for a noob. My best stats are in this tank. I feel like a seal clubber with my crew beginning to level up. The concealment is insane. Close quarter maps are a struggle of course.

I have a soft spot for the Stug III. It's ok that you don't like it QB but I enjoyed playing it. I didn't play it as a pure (camper) sniper.

I remember when the game had come out people had a kv-3 that was a badass tank. Also wot didn't have away to prevent people from joining a game with any teir tank so you could have a guy with a tier 3 tank vs 8.

Nevermind the KV being nerfed to remove the 152mm, I miss the 107mm on the SU-85. 167mm penetration and 300 alpha at tier V was brutal.

I remember, when the kv-1 was op, and the kv-1s was a tier 6 and was a mini IS with the top turret, and the 122mm gun. As i remember, i managed to get around almost 10k blocked with the old KV-1 tank in tier 6 or 7 🤔😅

My brother and i play this game together, and i hate the stug, while he loves it. Thanks for taking my side QB! It has its moments, but i find it struggles in a lot of situations

It is very strange you dislike Stug III G. Actually, it has good mobility, very good pen for a tier V. M10 and T67 has lower pen by far with a worse gun handling

Stug is also a precursor in play style to the Flatpanzer.

I love to play on the kv1 it just makes me feel good.

Stug used to be a dpm monster that could hit on reload without getting spotted. Still is with a good light tank.

StuG III ausf. G is AMAZING. Accuracy, dynamics, DPM, low profile, concealment, spotting with binoculars, farming, penetration, rotation - it has it all. It's much more than a sniper. I have 60% WR on it, easy, 3 perks crew that I also use on E25, so you have blasphemous on it.

I played back then when original KV was in the game. I think that personally I had it on the account. Good old times. 😢
