Playing the ORIGINAL Version of Phasmophobia (2020 Version) 

So much nostalgia! What do you think they should bring back from the old version?

You literally can see how much the developers care about this game and made it completely different than it was in the beginning. The dirty water, the old movement speed, the old go on the table bug or so on. The only thing I miss sometimes was the old times of looping the ghost around the kitchen and the Garage... These were some good times :D. But I am genuinely happy and excited what this game is and how its gonna improve even more.

I like to imagine that the devs had no clue Phasmophobia would take off like it did. So the voiceline "Unfortunately, it looks like you're on your own" was probably added since they genuinely thought that, more often than not, the server lobby browser would've been empty

I hope that they will some day add some sort of a "Legacy Mode" where we could try out the old versions like how Minecraft works. Even if not with every single version, but the major updates.

Man, I remember all the myths. Wraiths can see through doors! Wraiths can walk through walls! Demons will stop hunts when you throw a crucifix at them! Wraiths will end their hunt if they step in salt! Yureis increase map-wide sanity drain! Absolutely none of that was true. And there's way more, this is just off the top of my head.

I loved the old spirit box voice and text, especially when it said: "DIE". It was so menacing and aggressive lol

Oh my god, old times when you were waiting for friends to play and always be scared of a ghost. A lot of unknown mythics, that was fun. Anyway 2022 is pretty cool too

Dang, this brings back memories. I remember playing Phas like not even a month after it came out and then stopped playing for like 4 months and the game became something else

itd be really cool if this game had multiple different death animations bc the one the game has right now isn't necessarily bad, its just very repetitive. so rather than getting rid of that one and replacing it with a new animation, i think it would be neat if the game had a few different ones and picked a random one for each death edit: or maybe some animations that could correspond with the ghost model somehow, and i think that hanged man deaths should definitely have their own animation

I remember in Edgefield House, my friend and I camping at a corner watching our Other Friend merry go round a Ghost around the kitchen. This happened for 3 hunts, it was a different type of fun compared to now. Able to abuse and run away from ghosts easily, do tricks like playing Ouija Board in front of the house and leaving before the door closes when a Hunt Begins. OG Times

The game felt so casual back then, the game has certainly massively improved but i kinda of miss this version.

Saw the stream of this and the nostalgia still runs deep now as it did then. It's such a journey all of us went through. Phasmo came out in september 2020 and the first time I saw any Phasmo content was in November of 2020 when Markiplier Bob Wade and Jack played it and ever since then I've fallen in love with this. The Yokai/Hantu/Willow update, speed up buff, Myling/Goryo/Dots/new events update, Raiju/Onryo/Twins/Obake/Campsite update, cursed items, the Mimic update, and the new recent rework update. It's been an odyssey we've went on with Insym. What would we be without him, Phasmo, Cj, Lavender, Dk, and the 21 ghosts we know and love?

I actually got so nostalgic seeing the ghost writing book. Wasn't expecting that! I played the game like two weeks after it came out and I can't believe how far it has come!

I love how you were giddy about all the old things you being reminded of. The beauty of nostalgia.

Back when phas was more "grounded in reality", where equipment was just bits and pieces that your character probably found on ebay, and not made by some ghost-be-gone company etc...

Publicity is the word you were looking for for why they gave out this version to big streamers haha. Great vid! Super nostalgic. The game used to be so much easier.

One thing i really missed from the old game was the color of the items like the white EMF its so much easier to spot in a dark room

I miss old sounds! Played Phasmo since it came out, and I honestly love old radio voice and ghost events more than current ones. Even the old singing somehow seem less cartoony.

I really think that they should release this as a beta branch version so we can all play in it lol.

That was a whole long journey, I wish i could back to that time...

I actually know what the green key is for. I ripped the files from phas a little while ago, and I found that there used to be the Car Key (still used), Garage Key (green, unused), and Basement key (blue, unused). You would find the garage key somewhere in the house, usually the kitchen, and then the basement key was found in the garage.

I remember enjoying watching you play the old version back when you were still lvl 800 then finally bought it to try it myself. I'm so glad to be a part of your growing channel and community!

I got the game back in October 2020 and this really brings me back I even remember watching your streams every morning for me and even playing with you back when you would do the beta build plays.

This was a pure nostalgia trip. Watching this kinda of choked me up a bit. It's amazing how different this game was only a short time ago. I'd love to be able to go back and play a little classic Phasmo. Thanks for sharing this experience with us, Insym. This was truly a treat!

There used to be a VR bug in Bleasdale where if you took the butcher’s knife from the living room and placed it on your right belt slot, it would completely mess your movement up and push you through walls. It is still my favorite bug I’ve ever come across in this game.

this was so cute. A blast from the past for me as well, since I started playing the game when it came out. So many things I didn't remember.

An hour in, and just want to say this: you couldn't take pics of the ghost writing indefinitely, only for a really short time after the writing appeared to get a general interaction. You couldn't come back to it whenever to get the pic. I remember that pain!

How did i miss this?this video was so awesome, what a throwback to the old times. Cant belive how much you and the game have grown since i started watching. I remember all the old discoveries, one hype video after another how a ghost works ect.

I recall when I was new and the upright book tec blew my mind, where you could look straight up and drop the book for it to stand up, and with a camera next to it, it gave even more excuses to stay in the van and wait for writing.

Hope that one day they will add the older versions of the game to play and manage versions through steam(kinda like what Minecraft, csgo and other games have and what phasmo used to have to switch from public build to beta)

I watched this on your vod channel, but man this patch is so nostalgic. It was like every few minutes, I'd remember a moment or feature about the game that I completely forgot about up until this point. Also, now that you point it out, I don't think I've seen you touch Asylum since the Halloween update. I feel like you used to play it so much, but since it's so much harder to find the ghost, I've kinda forgotten about it. So revisiting Asylum and Hoghschool were fun just on they're own! Haha

I have been watching your channel for a long time, along with phasmophobia, when i saw big creators play it, I just kept watching, this gave me some nostalgia even though it wasn't that long ago

I really miss this old version. I could play hours on end in VR in this version. Somehow the graphics were simpler, and my PC handled it better than this newest version... I miss it so much

i managed to convince my friends to buy this game for Halloween when it came out and it was so good, stopped playing for a while after halloween but came back to it and keep playing, but this video brought back so many good memories (and a lot of terrifying ones lmao)

I wish the devs would have a repo of the old versions with server software to accompany it. I heavily prefer the older versions to the new ones, so it would be an actual godsend

Oh my god is this what time travel feels like xD The memories of the clunky OG game and utter lack of polish I miss those days! Half the fun of the game was just how absurd and unbalanced it was!

There's also a glitch in this version on Tanglewood(or one of the maps with the yellow barricades in front of the truck exit), if you stand on the ramp of the truck, crouch(not sure if you had to do it) and take a picture of the pavement, it would show a picture with the description "dead body"

I can't believe I missed this video 2 months ago.. I am a mainly WoW player and I enjoy both versions of the game (Classic and Live). Watching this gave me those exact "Classic" vibes I got from WoW and I hope, maybe when the game will be fully released, that they could perhaps launch some time a parallel version of this game like how it was in the beginning, perhaps with some fixes to some obvious bugs (like the broken photos we just witnessed here), but still with the voodoo yeets, twerks, etc. Things like this make a game really memorable and they hit the mark with Phasmo big time. I love playing and replaying the game and watching content with it, especially yours, Insym

I really hope we get a way to go back to an older version like this. I absolutely love the new updates, but I have a lot of friends who stopped playing the game because it got «too hard» or «too scary». I personally love that the game is more challenging now, but these old versions was so chill, me and my friends could play this game and just go meme around while also playing seriously. I miss it and I know tons of others do too. Pleeease make it possible to play both versions🙏🏻 we are so many who loves them both!

Honestly, I think one of the things i'd like to bring back is that the equipment is several colors. Having every piece of equipment (minus the journal and sound sensors) be black is hard to distinguish sometimes. Having a few be white or beige or something would help.

That was really interesting to see!! :D When I first played it, Phasmo had been out for a few months (about a year ago now) and it was already a bit more refined.

the headcam light only worked when the night vision was actually on on cam. you'd have to do that to properly test it although I think iirc that one was introduced with the new camera models which also may have had a slight change to how the nightvision works in general.

Achievement get: Those were the days. Also i think they should add achievements to this game, like "Your worst Nightmare: Complete all maps on Nightmare diff.", "Amatour: Complete all maps on Amateur diff."

it was awesome watching this, life was sooo different back when this game released and this video took me back, yea i can go back to ur old videos and rewatch them, but its different knowing all the knowledge of the game now and playing an old version as well. I remember watching Venntex back in early Phas days playing solo and trying to always get hunts just sitting in hallways for 5 minutes or more waiting for sanity to go down.

The "ghost event gives you sanity"-glitch just brought me an idea. What if, at amateur level, you get a small percentage of sanity back the longer the ghost sees you during hunts? Because honestly I was RUNNING tf away the second the ghost started hunting back then xD

Man I miss this version so much, so many good memories of being an absolute newbie to the game. I remember climbing on the counter tops all the time and still being afraid of the ghost getting me, and even telling my friends "dont crouch or stand by the edge cus it can still get you" man photos were so easy to get back then, just yell at the ghost a bit, stand on the counter, boom. How do you even go back to this version, if its possible for us? Something in the steam settings (of the game)?

ahh yes old phasma, I remember making a google doc about all of the equipment and what they do, damn I miss this.

If you are only here for the old hunts (like I was), the first will happen after 1:54 hours and the first loop another 40 min later at 2:35. I started skipping a lot but I believe these 2 were the only hunts in the almost 4 hour long video... It was fun over all but maybe you could add some timestamps or maybe upload a 20 min sume up ;)

1:57:57 That happened because it was a Banshee's early hunt ability, which involves the ghost wandering to the player location and, supposedly, "waiting for 20 seconds and starting a hunt during this time if it acquires line of sight of the player during that time" (I don't understand it very well either, wouldn't it always have line of sight of you, since it teleported to where you are?) Anyways At the start of the hunt, it was visible for a fraction of a second during its grace period before teleporting to its room to start the hunt from there (which is weird, I swear I thought they started their hunts from wherever they teleported to)

My favorite bug(most frustrating bug) was when the second objective was the only one that counted for experience.

I remember it being the way of showing the uv light into the fingies to take the picture accordingly, atleast that's how I remember it. Man this brings so many memories tho
