On this channel I also make fun and entertaining golf content based on crazy and sometimes “gimmicky” golf clubs. I like to cut through the marketing hype about products and I like to give you the honest truth about golf equipment.

@@barrycrichards Long left looks dead with the putt going downhill, short left is short sided. I think the play is to aim at the bunker and draw it in. Sometimes it just didn't draw.

Great data! What it perfectly demonstrates is the thing that all amateur golfers need to heed. If he removed 3 putts from his game, he would have been under par without changing anything else.

I know the feeling all too well!!! I was in a youth tournament years ago and nearly drove the green on the first hole, a par 4, and ended up with a birdie, then proceeded to not make another the entire round! In my defense, I didn't play really bad, but considering how well I play my short game and how short the course was, I should have had at least a few birdies. I also didn't have a single double bogey, which I believe was an accomplishment for my game, but I just couldn't get that first hole repeat.

That first shot was nearly an ace, hard to keep up with that kind of pressure. Second shot was solid but from there fell off a little, even a misclub! Too bad that was a nine iron by mistake, lol! Might have been another easy birdie. We seem to have attracted a wide audience here with some of the replies.

3 things that stand out on this How varied and wide your shot pattern was from what I'm guessing was around 150 yards Par 3's average over par even on tour so you probably played as well as to be expected Your best 2 shots were both when you couldn't really see the target, how much does our vision interrupt our subconscious?

My first thought as well!!! As it gets lighter we have so many more variables to absorb and our eyes start to try to crunch all that info. When it was dark is is basically, decide on a club, decide on a line, hit the ball. When I think of my own game, all it takes is someone in the group to point out water or a bunker and I instantly head towards it. LOL

It could also be that there’s always going to be more wind as the sun comes out and during the day so it could just be lining up like that as well. So many things to consider

@JP I can relate. There's a downhill par-3 on my home course that I would always hit 7-iron on. "That's GOT to be a 7, got to", I thought to myself. But I always came up short. So one day I hit the 6 - right onto the green. It's now a 6. Golfers can be so stubborn sometimes.

You know... that's the interesting and crazy thing about golf. You can LITERALLY play the EXACT SAME HOLE... 18 times in a row, and get wildly different outcomes on all of the attempts, from a shot that spins 1 foot away for a tap in birdie, to a double bogey... this game is incredible

That absolutely beautiful first shot got me to shout, “Oh, get in!” By the time you got to “17”, I felt your pain on that lip-out. Playing one hole 18 times, you still get to see what makes golf a fun, yet tough sport. Great video!

Tricky way to start 1 foot away from hole-in-one on your first attempt. Statistically that is probably your best shot of the day and I guess deep down inside you are aware of that. What a bummer really to have 17 holes left of most likely worse outcome 😂 Keep up the fantastic work. Big inspiration for sure

I love this challenge. Par 4 needs to happen and then follow with a par 5.

Par 5 would be BRUTAL considering you are walking back (let's say you walk) after finishing, therefore doubling your walk. Let's say it's is 500 yards for convenience, that's 18,000 yards or over 10 miles of walking! You also would be ripping two hard shots every hole. I think some guys would not be very effective towards the end of it from being worn out, especially if you were to walk it. Cart is different, but it would still be worse than a regular 18.

That was pretty exciting! With the birdy birdy start I thought you were going to coast to at least 10 under par. I think this underlines that no two golf swings are the same. As much as you were trying to duplicate the first swing, it couldn’t be done. The second tee shot was close, but your first tee shot was absolutely perfect! Well done Rick and thanks as always.

I tried to do this for a video too, to see the difference in premium and budget ball. How ever I got 5 holes in and the local college team showed up and had to quit. Getting there at 6am for nothing hahaha. Need that Rick clout haha.

Rick, I'm surprised you didn't hit from the full 8-feet-back from the tee markers (I'm assuming you own and could have had in the bag a full 48" driver), since you were clearly between clubs after it warmed up; that would have allowed you to keep a more normal full swing with the 8-iron.

Presumably he’s gone out early on the 14th so as to not bother other groups. Didn’t need to close the hole. He can play a par 3 18 times before someone gets to the 14th.

I mean I can understand why Rick would be disappointed with his score, but if you consider the fact that he was as he said between clubs and some of the shots that did result in birdies were really good… Par 3’s can be pretty punishing, honestly I’d say that +2 after playing the same part 3 18times is actually pretty damn solid!

For sure. On tour the par 3's typically aren't where they go low....that being said, their par 3's aren't typically a stock 8 iron to a relatively flat and receptive green 🤣

Haven’t watched this all the way through yet but already like this video. @rickshiels you should do this again with a par 4 and a par 5. See which 18 you can go lowest on!
